I can't exactly recall what it was - it was an extremely old vector graphics program that came with a sort of "mini-game". It was on one of those really, really early laptops - it had a monochrome orange screen. I can't exactly recall what it was, but it was similar to asteroids. Except that it wasn't.

The earliest console came was Alex Kidd in Miracle World for the Master System. Fun times. Except the boss battles which were based on Luck. I never finished that game.

The earliest computer game that I can properly remember was Loom. That was a great game. Except that I didn't play it, my Sister did, because I was far, far too stupid to actually understand it.

That one ski game on the old Windows 95 computers. That one where the snowman would chase you and eat you. That game was awesome.
It was brilliant!
I also remember stuff like Commander Keen, The Incredible Machine (TIM), Wacky Wheels and Stunts, but don't know the which I played first.

^To the person above: Ah, how could I forget Loom and Monkey Island?!

I remember my cousin playing Doom back in (I think) 1997 or 1998. I was born in -93, so it's a miracle that I can remember this (I can't even remember what I did yesterday) D:

Briefly played Quake 1 on my dads computer, by accident mind, when i was....about five or six. Yeah, blowing people to pieces had no effect on me as a grown man whatsoever *eyetwitch*

I remember playing Super Mario Land 2: Six Gold Coins on the original Gameboy... I know I was in Pumpkin Zone... And I know I died really fast.
Pumpkin zone freakin' sucked! It was an endless nightmare of "how far will you get before you die this time?". >_< But it's ok, Space Zone more than made up for it! :p

My first memory of gaming? It's playing Super Mario Bros 3, with my mom at my side trying to teach me the controls well enough to get through the first stage, at the age of 3-4.

My first memory of gaming is sitting on my dad's lap, playing the original Mortal Kombat on the PC against him. I was something like 4 years old. Ah, good times.

Welcome to the Escapist, *****! It's better than most of the internet, or at the very least, friendlier. Yes, I just called you a *****, but that was in a friendly manner. Once you go Escapist you will never go back.

I'd have to say Commando 64, for the Commodore 64 back when I was about 5. If even that. That game just blew my five-year-old-brain away. Naturally I couldn't even get past the first level, I mean the game was far from easy for anyone so a 5y/o just didn't have a fart's chance in hell. But I still thought it was alot of fun.

It's hard to remember which is the earliest. As thinking back on it, my childhood involved a lot of damn games. Would be either playing Quake with my dad (back then, he could actually beat me)

Or when being told about this new amazing game he'd just got, I forget which but was one of the Doom or Quake sequals. There where pictures of monsters on the church windows AND THEY CAME TO LIFE AND ATTACKED YOU!! God damn amazing, such fear is rarely felt these days.

I also have a memory of watching him play Thief for the first time and going through the zombie mines to get to the prison.
The rage that was let out when the guy died once you reached him... Priceless.

The day I got my SNES is a pretty vivid memory too actually.

You know, my oldent memory is of gaming.
Thats kinda sad.
It was 1993. The game was "Breath of Fire".
I remember it more then clearly. I was only 3 at the time too.

I mean, it was just the coolest thing ever when i was that small.

First game I ever played was most probably Grand Theft Auto. Not sure how old I was, but I remember after that game, I just carried on gaming.

Sonic 2 on my cousin's Sega which she gave to me shortly after. I also just found the original cartridge the other day and was blown away that I found the very first game I ever played when i was around 4 or 5.
