Worlds forst public railway, we invented communism (thats right its an English idea the ruskies stole) We are in the doomsday book, and lots of rich/famous people retire here
Wasn't t Karl Marx who invented communism? or did he steal it from you. Either way, the history textbooks suck balls in ONE of our countries. (either you never heard of Karl Marx or I never heard of your guy.)

Lincoln, famous for a cathedral that, before it's spire fell off, was taller than the pyramid of Giza. It is also home to one of the two castles in Britain which has two mottes, the only other one being in Lewes. It was also a very important city in Roman and Norman times, since it sat of a nexus of major roads such as the fosse way. There might be some other stuff but that's all I know.

Mine's famous for a ship going someplace and doing something nobody cares about. I think it was the North Pole or something...

I live in Hucknall which is a town just outside Nottingham, England and we are famous for inventing the Calculator and being the birth place of the poet Lord Byron.
We were also the town to test the Flying Beadstead.
Not bad going for a small town.

I'm from Southampton, England.

From my own knowledge:
-Spitfires were designed and assembled here in WWII.
-Most of the city was levelled in WWII, due to it's strategic importance.
-The Titanic sailed from our port, which is one of the largest in Europe.
-The port was also where the Pilgrim Fathers sailed to North America from, on the ship "the Mayflower".

From Wiki:
-King Henry V's famous warship Grace Dieu was built here.
-There was also a conspiricy here to murder Henry 5th, shortly before he sailed to the Battle of Agincourt, which was known as the "Southampton Plot". The ringleaders of the conspiricy were excecuted in what is now the city centre.
-Jane Austen and Danny La Rue lived here, and it was the birthplace of comedian Benny Hill.

my hometown area is famous as a resort place. many celebrities have vacation home sin central oregon, and Mount Bachelor is a world famous skiing resort.

having said that, i think most celebs are douche bags ((note:most)) and I hate skiing and snow. anyone wanna trade?

((as a side note, i met Jack Palance here when working at a convenience store as a teenager and he was awesome, signed an autgraph and everything. he has a ranch here. and I got to work on the set of Swordfish, when they were filming the flyfishing scene in Tumalo, Oregon and John Travolta was super nice to everyone, signed autographs and took photos with people, and made sure everyone knew they were doing a great job.))

{{but Kevin Costner, who also owns a ranch here, is a Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!!!]]
