I really liked 1, after that, I couldn't really play the series for more than an hour.

I bought FF 3 & 4 for the DS hoping that they would draw me back in, but... no dice.

I do however like Tactics A2 on the DS.

7 was the first one that I played (as is the case for most people I assume) then 8 came along with an even more emo protagonist than Cloud, and a more crappier love story. So I guess 8 was when they really started sucking. 7 however was when they went downhill. I guess as soon as Square realized that the Playstation's power allowed for fancy cinematics, the developers forgot all about gameplay. It wasn't until 12 that they realized cliche storylines and mediocre gameplay wasn't going to cut it anymore.
However, for me, 5 will always be the best, with 6 or 12 as a distant second. Sure the story wasn't that great or original, but when I can play a game for hours without even realizing it, then story doesn't really matter.

X-2 I guess. Ugh, that was terrible, I didn't really mind 10 that much, 9 I really enjoyed, it was a little more light hearted compared to 7 and 8. Both of which I really enjoyed, frankly I really liked 8, maybe it's just because I remind myself of Squall, the only bit that was a bit dodgy in that was Rinoa falling in love with Squall despite the fact that he's a socially inept grumpy bastard who doesn't want to know her. Other than that I really liked it.

1-6 were all amazing, and I would've played 2 a bit more if it wasn't for the bastard levelling system in that game.

after X-2 i shoulda stopped, 11 being online only was a poor choice in my veiw, but who cares, and as for 12, well, square better be glad Yatzee never got a hold of it, not that he likes JRPGs anyway...

at any rate, 13 is FF series' last chance with me, esspecially after so many delays, if 13 rots, i wash my hands of final fantasy

FF8 killed me. with the quick release of FF9, I decided to give Final Fantasy a rest. I came back a little when FF10 hype settled, and passed on 11 entirely. 12 had some promise, as a unique FF game, but got a touch boring. We shall see about 13 and all it's incarnations.

I loved FF9, my favorite of the lot.
FF10 was garbage as far as I'm concerned, FF11 also.

But I thought FF12 was pretty good.

It died at ten for me, at the laughing scene, that's when I felt a bullet exit the ps2 controller tore through my chin and out the back of my cranium painting my brains all over my beautiful wall.

I picked up twelve when it came out though and developed A PURELY HETEROSEXUAL crush on Balthier and he carried me through the entire game.

For me, it died at 9. 9 was by far my favorite in the series, because as far as I'm concerned FF7 was only decent and 8 was a snore fest. After that, 10 was about as appealing as a stake in the face, I haven't played 11, and 12 had possibly the WORST battle system in any RPG I've played in years.

It was good until 6, started going down at 7, hit the bottom at 8, went straight back up at 9, and sank from then on.

If Yahtzee were to try any Final Fantasy game, he'd probably break the CD in rage of it's crappiness (not that I think it's crappy, but he seems to carry pure hatred for the series) and/or disguise it as a sandwhich, send it to Square and make them taste the utterly putrid design. I think the ones he'd hate the most would be XI (cause it's an awful mumorpuger) and anyone after VII, as all characters there are either angsty cunts, boys looking like girls or vice versa, being generally annoying, or all aforementioned at the same time. Although he might accept VII to a grade, even though the story is a bit cliché at some parts, and the gameplay lacking variation at some points (note that these are probable opinions from a non-JRPG fan, not me), and I think he would call it good in comparison to the rest. I have never met a person who's played FFVII and not liked it for what it is, or at least not dis-liked it, except for the people I refer to as idiots (for other valid reasons). But from the view of an action game lover/JRPG-hater, I'd say that that kind of person would probably hate it anyway.

So when did you stop liking the Final Fantasy series if you ever liked it at all?

for me it started sliding downhill at 9 and went dead at 10. I recently got FF crisis core hoping that would spark some mild interest in the FF series but alas it failed horribly >.<
Downhill at 9, HOW DARE YOU GOOD SIR. THAT IS BLASPHEMY. YOU SHALL BE HANGED.

(sorry for my outburst...)
9 was the last good one. I just say started going downhill cause they did my most hated thing in a game. after you fight who you think is the final boss they bring some character that you have never even heard of or was mentioned to fight. but again 9 was the last good one ^^
Nice save. And yeah, *Boss* was a bit stupid and a bit of a let down.
yeah they did the same thing in Legend of Dragoon. that was a good game until that point.

it started going downhill after VII but got better with X and then jumped off a cliff with XII

but that being said the first ff one a new system is always a good one if you take VII and X so im looking forward to XIII

10 was alright, but it was approaching my issue with 12. 11 probably would have finished me if I had ever played it, but 12 was like a major disappointment with how dumbed-down it was; and the spell queue just totally ruined the more in-depth fights for me. I have had 12 since release, and I still haven't actually finished the game yet. I can go to the final area whenever I want, but the motivation to do so really isn't there.
