Cloud comes to mind as the very epitome of everything I don't like about JRPG character design.

Probably Cloud the most, just because his signature profile is so pronounced.

Granted, I don't really consider Cloud as reflective of current day Final Fantasy...

Celes, Edgar, Kefka, Locke, and Terra pop up in my mind immediately.

Depending on my mood, I may find Cecil, Cloud, Lightning, or Squall creeping in there too.

Who comes to my mind when you say "Final Fantasy"? It's the icky, squirming horde of Final Fanatics who burn at the stake any change to their precious franchise, despite how it changed EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I'm an FF Fanatic, and I've never once whinged about any of the games.
A few of them are quite similar and a few of them aren't. They change everything every time, keeping it fresh and still original, as well as still keeping what's essentially final fantasy.
I even enjoyed X-2 (as I was able to look past the girl power rangers introduction and find a game that in all honesty was quite decent by itself. I think too many people compared it to X-2, henceforth all the hatred for it.
Wait, so they compare a game to itself? That's horrible!

Notice how I said "Final Fanatics who"; which would mean that if you don't do that, I clearly wasn't talking about you, now was I? Just because you're not a part of the problem doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.
I meant to say they compare X-2 to just X by itself, but I made a mistake.

Flying Balamb from VIII, shortly followed by Chocobos, Sephiroth, and Aeris. I played the English one. Her name was definitely not spelt Aerith.
