The only time I got teary eyed was when I went back and played Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time Master Quest, but it wasn't so much for the game, but for the memories of me and my grand father bonding over the original. I went back and played it after he pasted away...

I've played hundreds of games, read hundreds of books, and watched hundreds of movies and never cried once. I thought I was immune. Then I cried about 4 different times including an hour over the ending when I played Xenosaga 3. That game left me emotionally scarred for life.

I think that I speak for everyone when I say Portal - Death of the weighted companion cube.

After doing so many missions together, enduring such happy and sad times, sticking togther through challenges and rewards, I dont think theres anyone that can bring themselves to beliving the fate that had been decided for such a giving, innocent cube.

As he made his way down to the firey abyss, wondering what he had done wrong, it is only natural as humans that tears fall from our eyes. Why?!

All the MGS games have made me tear up, but they haven't made me actually shed tears. Emma in 2 and the whole ending in 3, which have already been mentioned. But in the first one I actually wasn't all that moved by Sniper Wolf's death; it was actually Gray Fox's death that got to me. "...an undying shadow in a world of light..." man...tough, real tough.

Those are the only games that have come close to making me bawl. Maybe the fourth one will do the trick?

COD2 - The big red one, your team slowly die throughout the game, but the worst is when brooklin dies, especially after his final words are "Maybe I will make it home safe from this war afterall!" Then the ground beneath him starts exploding of course. In his mind he must have been thinking "Never tempt fate, never tempt fate."

i got a little tear in my eye when Sgt. Paul Jackson gets nuked and dies a slow and painful death while everyone else around him gets killed instantly and painlessly in COD4

Never. I'd like to think I have, but I can't remember one instance where I game has actually done that.

It's weird, because I've had movies and the such drop a tear or two, but never a game, and I'm more into games than movies.

I think it's probably because in movies when something bad happens, there's nothing I can do about it, but in games, I get pissed instead and take on that "Oh, it's time to get even" mindset.

Like in death scenes (for which I will not name characters) in GTA4, Half-life ep 2, and COD4 to name some, I'd be eager to pick up a gun and get some payback, because I could.

The only time I can remember my eyes welling up with tears because of a game is when Jenny gets killed in The Darkness. Despite not really knowing her character for some reason I felt really attached to her. Plus it was a particularly brutal death which I could do nothing about, which consequently made be vow to avenge her which in turn made me more eager to get through the game. I did it for you Jenny. *sobs*

I didn't cry, or even come close for that matter, but thats really just my personality. However the most recent time I really "felt" a moment in a game was probably in COD 4.

You know the scene, the good guy American, the one you KNOW is going to meet up with the British dude, the character you've been playing for half the game. When the nuke hits and you crawl from the twisted wreckage you're thinking, "That was an interesting plot twist, now my character is going to limp a bit and be good as new in time for the next mission." The exact thing you're not expecting is the most likely thing to happen in the scenario, I really felt a nice character death there. Not so with most of the secondary characters in games are basically as guaranteed to die off as anyone in a star trek episode with a character named "Red shirt #2".

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Sniper Wolf dies, I cry. Again. 'Couple o' weeks ago.

...

Snake... what was she fighting for?

Edit: Good man, Takhisis. Might as well do another example, then.

Tales of Symphonia. Genis dies (or so I thought). Yeah, I know. I should have expected it, but this time, for a change, I didn't. And even if I would have seen through it, it was still so powerful, I would have cried anyway. The preceding scenes of Raine and Sheena meeting an uncertain fate made me weep as well. I just love those characters so much. x)

i think it was during Dark Cloud, when you see Goro speaking to White Tiger, his deceased father, through an amulet. I certainly 'teared up' don't know about crying.

In Xenogears, I cried during the scene where Sophia dies.
FF7, not the Aries scene, but the scene where Red XIII learns the truth about his father.
The good ending for Bioshock, I don't know why but I just gets me every time.

I think I'm going to stop reading this thread, it's spoiling too many games that are on my 'to play' list.

My own fault for being dense, I'm going to regret this when I finally play them.
