This will never happen. Ever. In fact, Final fantasy never will end, it earns half of Japan's revenue.Fightgarr said:It will end when it stops making retarded amounts of money.
FF, as I would describe it, is basically retelling the same base story, but they change the setting every game. I feel sad for not playing any of the more recent console editions, because, like Mr. Really, I love me some FF.SimpleReally said:I'm ok with it as long as they dont do an EA on us and start making the exact same games.
look at the last 4 or 5 entries so far, they are so wildly different in gameplay, atmosphere (one is steampunk one is school-like one is a world living in fear etc..),tone, pacing (FFXII had some very cool cut-scenes showing you what the villains were planning). Of course there will be some similarities like chocobos and spell names and some weapons but in general no franchise changes a successful formula as much as square do, i think that deserves a tip of the hat.
that said i think the best FF game is final fantasy tacitcs (better than FF6 and 7 combined) it didnt have random encounters every 10 feet, gameplay was its strength not some annoyance to get through until the story progresses, the story remains excellent until the end (can't say that about disks 2 and 3 of FF7), and the villain actually makes sense when he speaks, has proper motives and doesn't sound like a home-made translation from a one man team (kefka: wait? do i look like a waiter?) omg so corny
still love most FF games (best music in any game imo) with varying degrees
I'd rather I wouldnt!TeebenJohnson said:The "Final" Fantasy "series" did see some direct sequels over these years. Those were without a doubt, the worst games I've ever played. Anyone remember "X-2"?
Your right because if they numbered Mario, Metroid, etc. games instead of just changing the name the would have like a million Mario's.mark_n_b said:The original game was going to be a stand-alone, but by the fifth installment of the series (perhaps even earlier) it was pretty much decided that the series would continue until it became unprofitable.
Which is when the "final" final fantasy will happen. But don't expect that to any time soon, Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Mega Man, Street Fighter... all are going strong thirty years after they were originally conceived with no end in sight. FF falls into this category.
