With all the FPS's about surely this would be amazing now...just give it that Bioshock style polish and it would be win...maybe instead of seperate classes there can just be skills or weapons to lvl up
Seconded, with a recommendation to People Can Fly for the maps- they know how to do Gothic architecture right.

Final Fantasy VI on the DS or 3DS. Don't amp up the difficulty quite as much as with FFIV/III on the DS (both were a bit obnoxious that way), but maybe make it more important to use the huge number of abilities and weapons at your disposal around the time you first attain the airship. I wouldn't even mind if they just reused the models and voice actors used for Kefka and Terra in Dissidia.

Secret of Mana. After many years of loving this wonderful game I've only recently learned it was actually chopped down to about 2/3 of its length in production, due to originally being designed for a planned CD system. This explains why the last 4 elemental palaces (Dark/Light/Moon/Tree) all have such a short buildup to them and why their seals were magically already broken. Could also do with bonus bosses/dungeons, a rebalancing of collision detection and the overpowered-ness of magic and certain enemies. Oh, and full multiplayer naturally. Playing this with friends is one of my all-time fave gaming memories despite these issues.

Freedom Fighters
Red Faction
The Thing

I don't know if they'd be considered classics, but screw it I want them remade.

Crusader:No Remorse and the sequel No Regret
X-COM: Apocalyspe
Mechwarrior 2 (a proper sim, not the horrendous MechAssault console games)

Tomb Raider series, rebooted again, but this time properly :)
Would you consider this recent reboot a proper one?

I think it looks pretty cool, although I wasn't a giant fan of the first games.

I really don't appreciate the idea of dragging something from the grave that was once great and pure with my past memories.

Before I continue further, keep in mind that there is a difference between reboot and remastering. As the term reboot implies, it is to completely restart a series from scratch, but made upon the same concept and function. Take the new Lora Croft or Devil May Cry's Dante, these are reboots. Things such as Ocarina of Time, Starfox, and other titles for the 3DS are remasterings. Let's keep the prejudice ashore and not confuse these terms.

Onto what I was originally discussing before having to clarify that...

Good memories are kept as memories for a reason. Simply rehashing a series and expecting fans to live up towards its newly found ideals is senseless and asinine. You're asking for it to not live up to the golden standard since it was good then, not now. Certain titles haven't aged well over the years since taste changes. The overall view of the public's stance towards media is twisted and contorted every year as marketers in the video game industry aim to please and impress. So in short, no, unless the nostalgia factor is going a good deal to help you perceive the game as better than ever. Only a handful of titles have lived up to the test of time when it comes to modern standards, others are not so fortunate. But this is only my opinion on remastering.

As for reboots, that's an entirely different subject. Developers are wanting to introduce something fresh because they either ran out of ideas or saw some sort of abstract opportunity in rebooting their most successful franchise down the line. A couple of games have seen worthy to this cause, but this isn't always possible.

This is only unacceptable if you're not willing to welcome in something that is slightly differnet, which is what generally goes wrong with reboots. Most fans don't adore the idea of a western Devil May Cry, but rather reject the idea since that isn't what the fell in love with.

So no, I don't want to see anything rebooted or remastered under any degree of circumstances.

Final Fantasy Tactics
Panzer Dragoon
Jedi Outca...wait. Would they give it the Unleashed treatment? I don't want a Goku version of Kyle.

None really, because old games are best left old. Still I would like to see:
--Mercenaries 3 (not sucky like Mercs 2)
--Beyond Good and Evil 2 (sexy like BGaE 1)
--I-Ninja 2 or Whiplash 2 (because they were...silly fun)

Planescape: Torment. ONLY if they don't change the writing, quests, or map design at all. Nor the skills. The only thing I want to see with that is updated graphics and tweaks to the ridiculous AD&D ruleset that they had to use to make it a bit more friendly. But everything else has to remain the same.

Redneck Rampage

Duke 3D

Blood

I still play all three more than anything modern. They're incredible fun, but a real hassle to set up due to DOSbox.

Eternal Darkness, Sanity's Requiem (This one would have to be done very carefully to not piss me off).

Beyond Good and Evil (I hear this may actually happen).

And last, but certainly not least, Chrono Trigger. Because, you know, Chrono Trigger rocks...

Final Fantasies V and IX. They did well porting III and IV to 3D, so I think updating my two favorites wouldn't be too tough.
I'd love to see a remake of VII and possibly VIII and IX done in the style of VI or earlier Final Fantasies. It will never happen but it would be a really interesting thing to see attempted.

Battle Toads

Primal Rage

Killer Instinct

Why have none of those games been re-made or updated?!

Star Wars Battlefront II

They were my all time fav games to play when I was growing up and had my Original Xbox and ancient PC.
