Which 3 classic games would you like to see rebooted in current gen?

The first game that came to mind was Final Fantasy 7, like that video for the PS3 release that caused so much buzz, but the game was on the edge of my angst comfort zone to begin with, and with what Square Enix does to the Final Fantasy games now, I think that desire would backfire. So all of my games are decidedly retro.

1.) Kid Icarus. It has been said over and over that this game should be rebooted and turned into a franchise, and frankly, I'd like to see it happen, even if it does kill it for me.

2.) Star Tropics. A little known game for the NES, it combined an interesting storyline, puzzling, and adventure feel. Exploration was encouraged, however sometimes punished. All in all though, it was a game that got caught up in the Zelda storm, being built on a similar "engine" (I hesitate to use that term for games this old)

3.) Solar Jetman. This would be great on XBLA or PSN, mostly if it was kept as a small game, and if things such as powerups were made to be more intuitive. A neat little planet exploration game. That's... about it.

I have more than 3. The fanboy in me wants to see Final Fantasy 6,7 or Tactics rebooted.
Rock 'n' racing
Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past.
Xenogears
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Killer Instinct
Star Tropics
and oh yeah, Arcanum

My choices are:

1 - Hero - Atari 2600 (great and simple action game - perfect for XBLA);
2 - Starflight, the 16 bit version for Genesis, from SSI (imagine it with alien races with voices, the space opera style quest and exploration of ancient evils, and the landings on planets with an upgradable vehicle and ship! Mass Effect drank a lot from this particular well);
3 - Road Rash, moto racer from EA in the 16 bit era. They tried to bring it back with the 3DO, but it was not up to the expectations razed by the console and did not make use of propper sandbox tools like we know them today. Imagine it in a city-wide sandbox map like Burnout Paradise? It would be awesome!
omg!....i love the choices....and lt me add (i think it could be fun if done right) Couldron C64

Tomb Raider series, rebooted again, but this time properly :)
Would you consider this recent reboot a proper one?

I think it looks pretty cool, although I wasn't a giant fan of the first games.
If you are referring to the remake of the original, "Tomb Raider Anniversary" i believe it was called, than no.
It wasn't bad, but nowhere good enough to properly revive the series.

... Descent?

You know, there wasn't anything particularly wrong with those games, and I'm not even sure that they won't work under Windows 7.
But as long as you guys are going to include Windows games where there was nothing actually wrong with them the first time around, then I'm going to add...

Carmageddon: Carpocalypse Now!

Thief. (Which one? Take your pick.)
Morrowind. (Maybe change the battle system to Oblivion's...)
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

I'd definitely choose this, Starflight was awesome and it would be even more so re-done with today's technology.
My other two choices would be Wing Commander and Mechwarrior - both groundbreaking scifi sims in their day. Redone for modern systems they could be truly amazing.

Earthbound, baby. awww yeah. Too bad Reggie hates Mother. RPG. Because it's awesome.
Perfect Dark. My favorite FPS ever. FPS. Because it's awesome.
Red Alert 2. But they MUST get Udo Kier back as Yuri. RTS. Because it's awesome.
By now someone's probably already told you this, but they remade Perfect Dark on the Xbox Live Arcade.

Descent (just got Descent 1 and two off GOG for cheap (they are a little buggy in spots on Win7, however.) :D... would love to see a modern version in the same vein.)
X-com (The "Reboot" doesn't count. IT IS NOT X-COM.)
...those are the main 2 that really come to mind.

1. Morrowind - Upgrade the graphics all around and maybe give it Oblivion's improvements to combat and that game would be the greatest possibly ever (though I do hope Skyrim can come close to, if not, surpass the awesomeness that is Morrowind) <RPG... if you didn't know that why are you on this site>

2. Star Ocean - The game was amazingly fun liked it more than any Final Fantasy game I've played and with improved graphics and voice acting... well no don't add voice acting (star ocean 4 proves no voice acting should be allowed in a star ocean game)

3. Mech Assault - The second one changed too much from the first one so it sucked and failed and didn't merrit a 3rd go around... But if you remake the first and upgrade graphics I would forgive all that Mech Assault 2 ruined for the franchise.

KOTOR and Fallout 2: I didn't experience them the first time and can't help but wonder if the technological gap will somehow diminish the experience. I only played Half Life for the first time recently and while it is still excellent, I didn't get quite the rush I get from the great games of their current generation. I like FPS's and terrific design is still terrific design, even allowing for a decade and a bit of evolution. The "as it happens" storytelling that it helped pioneer is still as effective as ever, but the creaky graphics and AI kind of held it back. It's a context thing.

It's harder to nominate games that I played at the time, Ocarina of Time being the most obvious example. I'd be happy to see a remake for those who didn't get the chance first time around though, but from a selfish perspective it would be a nostalgia trip without that initial rush of achievement. Besides, Nintendo have cashed all of my nostalgia dollars

Call of Duty (Yes I know they still have Call of Duty games, but I mean a game with the old spirit, the whole war isn't just fought by one man from one country, but a coalition working towards a common goal)
Rainbow Six (The whole planning thing)
Not quite a game but a concept: The idea that video games don't have to be rated M. Sure, some games have concepts that it makes sense that they are rated M (Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, Fallout, etc.), but Call of Duty: UO is still one of my all time favorite games and it is rated T. I saw no reason why Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 had to be M in order to tell their story the way that could have been rated T.
Note: I am not complaining about the M ratings because I am some whiny little kid whose parents won't buy them M games. I just don't feel comfortable when a little kid ass me to let them play a game that they have played elsewhere and the developers got it bumped up to an M rating because the developers think that people won't take their game seriously without an M rating

Symphony of the Night, Deus Ex, Eternal Darkness, and The World Ends with you.

Yeah, I know it's only four years old, but it was SO GOOD and they aren't getting around to a sequel.
