Because of the choice to use a female by the game developers. Eventually? You'll throw up at the sight of it. And I never liked the stereotype or the people who acted it, so you can imagine my reaction (it invovlves chainsaws and wild dogs.)
As for the topic I gotta say my favorite is either Samus Aran or Jade(from BG&E), though Faith from Mirror's Edge as good too.
That being said I will say that while I've never liked Lara Croft, I will say that she is correctly attired for her primary job of Tomb Raider. If you're dodging trap and enchanted statues who mean to kill you I'd wear short shorts and a tank top too...and that's not a pretty sight.
Commander Shepard, Jade and Faith are definitely my favorite female protagonists.
I've yet to play a Metroid game so I cannot give an opinion on Samus

I definitely prefer small tits. Small, tight and perky over big and bouncy any day.
