The only thing I'll give you is that it happens too quickly.

Jong-un doesn't forcibly absorb south Korea. He tries to make it seem like he has no interest in carrying on his fathers legacy and offers an olive branch. And when America pulls out of Japan. You'd better believe Korea could take them over. Military wise Japan isn't all that impressive at the minute.

The American instability line is actually quite good. Disintegration could happen very quickly with so many factors.
Regardless of Jong-un's actions the scenario is absolutely ridiculous. Any progress with Korean unification would take decades, and I can guarantee you that the South wouldn't elect a Heavenly Great Father, Briliant Comrade and Dear Great Leader, much less try to invade China, Japan, South-east Asia and America because he tells them to.

If this was set as a guerilla war in South Korea under Northern Occupation after the US had pulled out of the place following the financial crisis, it would be taking big liberties with how the world works, but it would be excusable. As it stands it's as likely a story as Rhode Island, with it's 1 million citizens, breaking off the US and managing to invade and annex Britain and France (roughly same ratio)

As for the financial plot point, financial crisis has been done before, and much worse, without disintegration happening. Disease has also occurred without countries falling apart (Remember the Spanish Flu)

I'll give you that Japan's military isn't impressive at the moment, but neither was the military of Afghanistan, and the US is not having a good time there.
You are fighting over something as stupid as the guns in Black ops... which also is an alternate universe... don't take it to seriously.

Also.. according to my vocabulary America is in a civil war. Just look up the definition. Quite funny actually. (The definition I found was that when over 15 people die as a result of armed conflict it is called a war, and there is a lot more people dying in America as a cause of armed conflict).

OT: My price of worst story goes to... Final Fantasy X-2. Nuff said....

A reminder for all those arguing about Halo.

What game have you played that was so atrocious you had to put it down.
For me it was Black ops, it was like fight Club, but I wasn't enjoying it.

I'm gonna get trolled by fanboys for this.
Gears of War 2. the plot makes sense for a while, but about halfway into it they begin throwing in half baked plot elements. it gave me the idea that the story was written by 5-6 different people, then the pages were scrambled together.
the reason I say this over another, worse game is that it wa good going in, but ruined itself in the middle, and the ending was a letdown, as another half baked plot element was introduced

When finished, Borderlands.

While playing, all Halo games past CE.
Really? The WORST? Fucking really?

Huh. Apparently, looking around, people have no idea just how bad a story can get. I submit to you: Crackdown 2. Maybe Prototype. Or Gears of War.

Ohh I forgot about Gears of War 2, to me most of the plot was "What the hell is that?!" "what's going on!?" "Mariaaaa WAAAHHH!!"

I haven't played it, but Mindjack seems to be up there. About 6 hours through the game you learn about mindjacking, even though you've been mindjacking people and making them your mind slaves all the way there. The dialogue and characters seem to be pretty damn awful too.

I think we need more truth and less excuse to spew the haterade around.
Because in all honesty, out of all the games that I have played- I would nominate either:

Clive Barker's Jericho, a Clive Barker production. (Presented by Clive Barker)
or Predator: Concrete Jungle.

all Halo games past CE.

see this is what i dislike. people not liking games for lacking in story when mostly its shooty fun. Thats like saying Doom or pac-man was bad as there was little story. Not all games need one to exist. but they can often be a nice add-on to explain some of the reasons for doing things.
The thing is Halo tries so hard to have a good story but its riddled with cliches and uninteresting characters.
It wouldn't matter so much if it didn't attempt to make its story the absolute forefront of the game. The game could just make you go from point A to point B killing bad guys from beginning to end, but its loaded with crap that attempts to make the player become drawn into the game when it does the exact opposite.

That's why I thought the first Halo had a great story, your stranded on this alien world pretty much doomed to die and all you can do is uncover its secrets. Halo CE felt unique and it had all these things going for it story-wise. The other Halo's take a much more...forceful approach and degenerate into your standard corridor shooter, constantly telling you to go here, go there, listen to generic commander character #893462 go on about how bad the aliens are and how your the only hope for the galaxy for 20 minutes while working towards some objective thats supposed to be really important but you really do not give a shit about.
It follows this same sort of pattern for Halo 2, 3 and Reach.

Oh yeah, the marketing campaign.
A trailer which shows many soldiers fighting for their lives in the defence of a small town, conveying a very powerful sense of hopelessness whilst showing the brutality and power of the enemies. We get a game with a campaign that never shows anything more than the player and a few dumbass teammates running around killing baddies, pretty much because they can. It's an insult to the original.

A trailer which shows a Spartan team's desperate attempt to destroy a Covenant ship, resulting the death of one of them as well as many UNSC personnel. We get a linear and boring few-hour-long campaign which apparently shows a massive conflict, which you never see.

In B4 people saying Halo to look cool... damn too late.

While I don't really know what game had the worst story I do know that anyone that says Halo is fucking retarded or an "insert game here" fanboy. Probably some game back on the old NES or something.
You've essentially proved you are a fanboy, well done. Now explain why Halo is so great.
I've never said it's story was great. Even though I think it is that's a manner of opinion. It's your fault if you can't get invested into characters that are plenty deep enough if you tried to care about them. Halo 2 had the Arbiter, the rise of the brutes and the fall of the Elites. Granted the human side was bland throughout the games the flood and their fight against the forerunners of old and how their fight became the new fight...

And i felt more invested into Halo's story than I ever was with something else like Half life. Oh yay. A physics puzzle. Who saw that one coming. I could pick the cliches out of there if you wanted. Go visit TV tropes for a bit. It's not the cliches that make a story its how you use them.

The Covenant's side of the story is far more interesting than half life's will ever be for me. I'm not calling half-life's the worst ever since it's a well put together plot with likeable characters but I don't see the point in a lot of people turning around and calling Halo's that with just as much merit I'd have of saying Half-life's story is boring and stupid as hell. Worst thing ever.

And that's not even taking the books into the whole scheme of things which are even better than the games.
the covenants side story was pretty awesome, too bad they pretty much took a shit on it in halo 3, sure its there but they do nothing with it beyond "oh lets help the umies"

Earth Defense Force 2017.

What the hell? That has got to be the most horribly acted-out, B-movie, generic storyline I have ever heard. Not to mention the game also sucked horribly as well.

Damnation, mostly for the wasted opportunity. I mean, a steampunk American Civil War theme is a great idea, but they just messed it up.

Vampire Rain. I've been playing it for 2 years (?) now. Still haven't completed it and, I can't. I missed a knife pickup. Now I can't kill a vampire that has to be killed.
