Fist off I have to say, Awesome topic. I sat in my chair at work and just tried to focus on the first PC (strictly) game that blew my mind. I have to put down 2 for totally different reasons.

1) Civilization - I use to take graph paper, draw out my island, and Dotmap it. I was 11, had too much time on my hands, and didn't masturbate enough

2) War Craft - the original. Only because it was the first game I ever played against another human being who wasn't in easy slapping distance. For the record, knocking down someone elses mine takes 50 wolf riders over an hour.

Half Life. It shone the blinding light of heaven and intelligent design and showed me that PC gaming is indeed awesome. To this day, it's installed on my PC and still gets it's playthrough

Half Life 2. I bought it for £15, and it took me a while to get the hang of it, but now I have a small library of PC games.

Nobody else remembers Wing Commander? Granted a lot of these answers are much newer games, but I'm still amazed.

And newer version of space war, a racing game called "duel", a game where you played as a helicopter to stop fires, Mario Andrettis racing challenge, all on the 286 computer system. But my first "major" game was probably either Tie Fighter or C&C 95.

I have always been a PC gamer. Ever since I was a little kid. I used to sit on my Dad's lap and watch him play Doom, Dune 2 (the RTS) and Lemmings.

When I grew up I began to play stuff like Starcraft, Diablo (pretty much all Blizzard titles since I had a Mac), Descent, Descent 2, SW :Episode 1 Podracer (lol loved that game!)

Now I play everything online on my PC, Left 4 Dead, World of Warcraft, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield 2, BF 2142, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, etc. And all the singleplayer games like Half Life (1 and 2 with all the Episodes), Crysis, Freelancer (which I loved, brought me back to my Descent days), Portal, etc.

I alwasy was a Pc Gamer. At the Age of 6 i was amzing by the world of half life and its story line of so many levels. All FPS had puzzles abck then, but the ones i played all revolved along the lines of find the yellow key. I would struggle though half life, and everytime i sloved a harder puzzle and would smile with glee. Here was a game worth beating!
It wasnt just that, running scared from the Big Blues, knowing that nohting in my arsenal could harm it, crowbaring a vort in the face, these all stuck with me and everytime i see a console game, even now, i sneer at the controller and (Probly) the game. the keyboard and mouse had helped me play though half lifes world and absorbed me completely. I havent looked back since.

I've been one since the beginning of time.

I think the first PC game I saw was "Balloons" when I was, like, 2. It was before I could talk.

But the first PC game I truly loved and enjoyed that I recall?

Hell, there's too many. Probably wolf 3d or Rise of the Triad.

MS Paint.

No lie, my dad bought home a work computer when I was five years old, couldn't get me off the damn thing. Maybe not strictly a game, but the ability to create something got me there and then. It's only got better from there.

I've never been a PC gamer. When I was a child, my dad was a fan of Macs (often already used and dated by the time we got them), which meant crappy shareware games that I quickly exhausted. I did, however, get introduced to quite a few impressive games from friends over the years. 7th Guest, Myst, Commander Keen, Prince of Persia, Sim City 2000, etc. They were all fun, but I never felt I should chose those over Street Fighter II or Sonic.

So my FPS skills are weak and my RTS skills are unrefined, but I've had too much fun with the consoles to care. Super Smash Bros. Metal Gear Solid. These are a few of my favorite things.

I don't know. I've always been playing PC games. From waaaaaaaaay back when Dick Tracy and Who Framed Roger Rabbit came back to Doom.

The first game I remember saying "There's no way this would work anywhere else" was Ultima Online. After that, I was hooked.

Wolfestein 3D... and Doom.

Period.

A couple of years later I spent over $300 on a CD-Reader Optical Drive so I could play 9th Guest and 11th Hour, Under a Killing Moon and a shitload of over-the-top CGI/FMV infested games :p

C&C Red Alert! It was at that moment that I became acquainted with my megalomaniacal nature. Nothing like hearing 'Affirmative' 20 times in the span of a minute and roasting infantry with the Tesla Coil.

I enjoyed computer games as much as console games (since my family owned neither) until I got my first PC. My brother and I fooled around with LodeRunner II, Kings Quest VI (I think!) and Megarace; fun, but not obsession-making. Then I got Strike Commander for my birthday and everything changed...
