Hmmm... I have a lot of favorites:

Mitch Hedberg
Lewis Black
The Amazing Jonathan
Jim Gaffigan
Daniel Tosh
Demitri Martin
Steve Martin
Dave Barry (well, he's a comedic writer)
David Sedaris (also a comedic writer)

I'm most likely forgetting one or two...

I loved George Carlin, which is weird, because I would watch his specials and it seemed like he spent a good deal of time not telling any jokes. But he was still entertaining in his own way. I loved when he did this thing "The Big Electron" which is when he basically said, "I'm an atheist who believes in a God..."

George Carlin, hands down.
I loved the crazy old guy.
His death was the worst one of recent memory.

Oh, and Robin Williams is pretty good, too.
As is Jeff Dunham.

My personal favorite was Mitch Hedberg.....then he overdosed.....(in all seriousness) it was extremely sad.

Here is one of my favourite quotes:

I bought a doughnut, and they gave me a receipt for the doughnut. I don't need a receipt for the doughnut, man, I'll just give you the money, and you give me the doughnut... end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I just can't imagine a scenario where I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. Some skeptical friend: "Don't even act like I didn't get that doughnut! I got the doc-u-men-tation right here... oh, wait it's at home... in the file... under 'D'... for doughnut."
"I love my fed-ex guy cause he's a drug dealer and he don't even know it...and he's always on time."

"What am I drinking? NyQuil on the rocks, for when you're feeling sick but sociable."

"By the way, you don't have to be sweaty and holding a basketball to enjoy a Gatorade. You could just be...a thirsty dude! Gatorade forgets about this demographic!"
"I was at a club, and a guy came up to me and told me I couldn't stand there, because I was blocking a fire exit. I say that if you are flammable, and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit...unless you are a table."

"Alcoholism is a disease, but it's the only disease you can get yelled at for having. Damnit Otto, you're an alcoholic. Damnit Otto, you have Lupus. One of those two just doesn't sound right."

I know a guy who was with this girl, and they started talking about comedians, so he did the Mitch Hedburg routine about how alchoholism is the disease you can be yelled at for having. After hearing it, the girl looked at him horrified, and said, "My...my brother has Lupus". I mean, seriously. WTF.

I've benn watching a lot of comdeians lately, strange i made this thread isn't it? Anyway, the comedians that i've seen people know the most are Dane Cook, Jeff Dunham, Jo Koy, and Stephen Lynch.
Also interesting how all of them aren't funny.

OT: George Carlin. He's the only comedian who's actually a comedian.

Bill Hicks is probably my favourite comedian; I like my comedy with actual thought behind it. Having said that, I also like: Dara O'Briain (his rants against New Age thinking are fabulous for fellow skeptics), Russell Howard, Stephen K Amos, George Carlin and Richard Pryor. All over the place, comedy wise.

Off topic, am I the only one who thinks Dane Cook isn't funny at all?
No. I literally can't watch him perform, he gives me motion sickness.

Aside from myself, I like Dane Cook, Jeff Dunham, George Lopez, Robin Williams, and a bit of Brian Regan and Dennis Leary.
