Bro team would do well.
I'd be amazed if they got Brote Ampill on the Escapist. His content isn't exactly in the same vein as what's on here at this moment, but maybe he can surprise us ^^

Well I could name drop all the various Internet personalities I follow/has followed which talk about games, and see whether they could work. So I did precisely that:

Extra Credits: I personally would love to right now, but they're successful in their own right. That they used to be hosted on the Escapist is both a positive(they now what the deal is) and a negative(they left for a reason).
Errant Signal: He started a Patreon not too long ago, and I suspect that the quality of his videos would dramatically drop if he had to do a video a week. Plus, he'd kind of enter Yahtzee's territory more than Jim's.
Mr bitTongue: His videos come out too seldom.
The GameOverthinker: putting aside that I think the quality of his videos/tone in his arguments are not what I appreciate, that would mean that Bob has 3 videos a week to produce. Even if he'd manage to do that with no problem, I don't think the Escapist at large would like to see three videos a week from one single person/viewpoint.
Lazy Game Reviews: Has a Patreon, and is more into retro PC titles, which I suspect is not something an up-to-date publication as Escapist would want.
ReviewTechUSA: ...honestly, he's probably my best option. He already does videos on a weekly-ish basis, and he does commentary on current news stories, so he's in the same niche as Jim Sterling. And his way of supporting himself is by adding "This video is brought to you by [product x], [marketing lingo about product x], link below in description" to his videos so I could easily see him removing that if Escapist would pay him.
PachAttack: Another "good" option. Mr. Pachter comes to the discussion from a perspective that's kind of unique, in that he's primarily a business man that happens to focus on games rather than a video game enthusiast that focusses on the business side/art side/whatever, so I was sad to see his show go away. From some tweets from him I see that he would have liked to continue. That being said, he was frequently factually wrong(at one point describing a turn based strategy game as if it were real time) and he can come across as a bit condescending, and I don't know if Escapist would like him.
TotalBiscuit: Possible, but I think he prefers to be independent. And if nothing else, he is capital S Successful. He did appear on the last Escapist expo though, and him and Jim has referred to each other in their videos so he "has the ties" so to speak.
SuperBunnyHop: the guy behind it has a day job, hence why his videos don't come out as frequently. If he were to quit that day job it's possible that he could do it. The question is if he would be willing to make such a commitment/if he thinks he could do one video a week of sufficient quality.
AlphaOmegaSin: does videos often, but I don't really follow him, and the few I've seen I haven't really been impressed with his insight.

Im not sure but im losing reason to come back here. With LRR taking content off and moving more torwards their website and twitch, jim leaving entirely, and Lisa earlier this year, the only reason I am here now is for Yahtzee.

They need to pull in a heavy hitter or two. As it stands im not going to renew my pub club for a site I only visit once a week now...

And nobody cares about bob....

I suppose anyone to fill in Jim's old slots would be nice. I can't really recommend anyone in particular, but it would be interesting if the site tried something is didn't usually do - that is, something other than journalism or reviews.

I'm only really here for the forum and the occasional post that interests me, so I don't particularly care, but something cool every once in a while would be good.

Does he even NEED a replacement?

I for one have come to love the escapists many podcasts that have been added to the site recently. The science and tech podcast in particular is THE highlight of my week on this site. The gaming, movie, and comic ones are pretty great as well.

I'm certainly not opposed to adding new people but Jim Sterling was far from being only reason to frequent the site over the course of the week. His leaving will no doubt impact viewers but I'm sure the same could be said when Lisa Foiles left or Extra Credits moved on.

The site will do fine with or without a replacement.

I'm personally on board still for Moviebob on Tuesdays and Fridays and Yahtzee on Wednesdays, so 3 out of 5 days isn't a bad thing to me. Another personality will show up, and when they do (I hope it is soon, though), I really hope it hits the right points for me. I like something with a little bit of vigor and controversy and humor during my week, and Jim provided that perfectly for me.

I am interested to see what will rise from the rubble, though. I think Marter would be a welcome personality to catch every week, personally. Someone on here said Adam Sessler, which I wholeheartedly agree with.

But not Smosh Games.

Not after last time...
Yeaaaah, that's something I'd rather not see repeated.
Wait, when was Smosh here?
And what did they do, and how did I not know about this sooner?
It was very brief. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/top-5-friday]

IMO, the best of the best in the industry are Jim Sterling, Yahtzee, TotalBiscuit and Adam Sessler. The last two would be wonderful to have on The Escapist. But TB's got his own thing and he's doing well, and I don't really know where Adam is and what he's up to since he left Rev3Games (RIP Rev3, by the way). But man, imagine Sessler's Something on The Escapist.

I think it'd be great if we got someone just really enthusiastic about videogames and could coherently talk about them and the industry without getting so emotionally involved in political drama that now saturates the whole internet. That would be a breath of fresh air right about now.

Yeah, I'd like something in the vain of Extra Credits. Funny, thoughtful, insightful, and, most importantly, optimistic.

I don't know where they'd get that from, though.

Well, I can think of one person who is perfect for the job. Not as "replacement for Jim Fucking Sterling son" but rather "A person who I think more people should listen to" - that person is MrBTongue from YouTube. Why? Because he talks sensibly, understandably, smartly and really likes video games and wants them to improve by following both good ideas from gaming itself but also compatible ones from other mediums. I also think it'd be good if he was motivated to make more videos, as his ones are brilliant but not that many. Finally, with Jim gone, there is a Monday slot that's just perfect for MrBtongue[footnote]The joke here is that his videos were often late and he'd often promise them for "Monday" until it sort of became a joke on its own.[/footnote]
I second this MrBTongue is awesome. He almost makes Mass Effect 3's ending worth it. But yeah he's not what you would call consistent. Although I would rater good content then a lot of it so there is that.

You can't really replace Jim Fucking Sterling, Son. You just can't. He's got his own style, his own cadence and no one brought in touted as a replacement would do justice. Instead one needs to find different content that is relevant and speaks to the people who come here. There is a void left by Jim, a big one and it will be tough to find something to add content that is on the level of Jimquisition and his reviews. So here's to hoping something suitable is found, just don't give me a secondhand Jim Fucking Sterling, son and expect me to accept that because I won't.

I can think of quite a few, but I would never want them to come here because I feel like such a move would destroy their content. Don't get me wrong: that comment has nothing to do with The Escapist. I strictly mean that shoehorning my favorite content creators into scheduled episodes that are part of an entity larger than themselves would destroy what makes them unique and, in my opinion, brilliant.

Errant Signal - he doesn't release videos on a regular basis, but genius like his can't be rushed. I think he's one of the best video game editorialists out there with his ability to philosophize on how games impact us positively at both cultural and subconscious levels.

Lazy Game Reviews - He's another YouTuber I religiously follow because he's a natural entertainer, and that's not a quality you see in many historians! That's how I picture him: as a historian, not an editorialist. In one of the first videos of his that I saw, he was reviewing an old game (like he does!) and was listing off what came in the original packaging. When he listed "a piece of cardboard that makes an unusually lousy nose-picker," I was hooked.

Nerd Cubed - Dan would be a BRILLIANT addition to the site, but I don't think his health issues would allow him to be a contributor unless he gave up something he's already successfully doing.

AlphaOmegaSin - No way in hell do I think he'd want this gig. If he got an offer and took it, I'd be thrilled; however, he would probably give two gigantic (and very public) middle fingers to anybody who tried to throttle his content or his opinions. And wow... he has some opinions, alright. Good ones! On a more personal level, I'd totally date him if I was straight.

There, I said it!

Caddicarus and brutalmoose - These two would be perfect, but James and Ian HAVE to come on board together. If you'd know what I mean.

I have more, but I'm sick of writing this post. ;)

Hell, I'd date him if I was gay.

I'm fine with them getting youtubers, but I think they'd need someone respectable. People mentioned total biscuit, but he'd never take it. Most great creators wouldn't.

I need more Cartoons here. I came to this site for Unforgotten Realms, and since then the Cartoons on this site went up slightly, and then shrank dramatically until only Yatzee remains (And even he isn't truely a Cartoonist, nor is his series really a cartoon).

I want a New Cartoon on this site!
I agree. This site's video content took a big downward turn long before Jim Sterling ever showed up here.

No offense to Mr. Sterling, but compared to what it once was, the content on the escapist these days is very samey.

Needs more variety. More oddball comedy series...
Less 'factual' stuff. (I use that term loosely, but still, you get what I mean, I hope.)
