Kurotsuchi Mayuri from Bleach. Anyone who turns their own subordinates into bombs and is still considered one of the good guys, well, that's a win in my book.

My favorite is Kenshiro from "Hokuto no Ken." Watch the series and read the manga, and you'll get why.

THE CHICK WITH THE HUGE TITS FROM BLEACH
Orihime or Rangiku?

Personally...can't really tell. What would I use to judge "greatest?" Just my favorites? If that's the case, I'd go with either Gaara or Lina Inverse. If otherwise, Kenshin or Spike.

...ah, who'm I kidding? Even though the anime adaptation was somewhat disappointing, I'ma go with <url=http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/1549/archer1gn3.jpg>Archer.

No one beats Lelouch from code Geass...No one
I don't know, that pencil neck could be easily broken by any of the stronger characters. Yeah he's smart, but I believe that intelligence can only get you so far. (Even though I say this, Code Geass is one of the best anime series that I have ever seen)
You seem to be forgetting that he also has a mind controlling eye, an army, and shit load of mechs at his disposal.

Right... favorite anime hero. No prob. I got this.

Um... Spike, Vash, and Edward Elric are all worth mentioning... um...

...I suppose I shouldn't jump to conclusions and assume manga is included in this...

Best... hmm...

I'm going to go ahead and say Kenshin for now. Ryu Kyu Zen is win, and while they did make him one of those protagonists who just preaches morals at any turn, the fact remains that he did it so well and so skillfully that it set him apart from all the other ones by a massive amount.

If manga were included in this, I'd throw in Negi Springfield and Shiki Tohno.

...or the chick from Ghost in the Shell - I always forget her name
Motoko Kusanagi I believe.

Hard to pick a favorite to be honest. For comedy I'm kind of partial to Lina Inverse from The Slayers. For more serious stuff it's a much, much harder call but I can't pick a favorite that sticks out in my mind.

Oh and while it was stated early on, I think Anime and Video Gaming mix perfectly well. I for example see myself as a fan of science fiction/fantasy/Horror. Video Games, Anime, Books, etc... are all extensions of the same interest and sort of blend together for me. Differant mediums, same basic thing.
