I think the first space marines were actually the Space Marines from Warhammer in its 1st edition, not the Doom guy. I may be wrong but hasn't Warhammer been around for longer than Doom?
(Warhammer 40K started in 1987, Doom was made in 1993)

I don't think Ripley was technically a marine but a lot of guys picked her. At least not in the first movie.

Though I sympathize with your choice Lyiat- Ripley doesn't count...she wasn't a Marine...she was brought on in "Aliens" as a consultant. Although you wanted to like Hicks, and Hudson was just plain funny, I would have to say Vasquez was easily the biggest badass in that group and most believable.

She survived, they all died. End of story.

Look...I always thought of Space Marine as a general term. A soldier that fights aliens in space/other planets.
If it helps end this fucking firestorm then I'll just say Johnson is my favorite space "marine."
