He is suited to what he does.

The books read through his story as a child, his personality - All the things that you say the games 'lack'.

Even if the books DO patch up MC's personality, the only people who are ever going to read those stories are the ones who already think that Halo is the best game since Super Mario 3. The other people who didn't find it that great are not going to bother to check it out, because the assume that it's just something that's very similar to the game.

My point is that if you're going to release some extra stuff to some game (e.g.fan fiction, expansion or soundtrack), there's no need to try to win more audience than the original thing. If they weren't impressed with the real deal, why would they be impressed to other stuff about it?
If the main dish is shit, you don't wait for the dessert (or something like, what yahtzee once said).

Imoen in the Baldur's Gate games, and especially in Baldur's Gate 2 when she returns to the party after being kidnapped. Her skills are poorly chosen and when she returns to the party she'll be largely behind on experience. It's a really tough choice because most of the time I'd loved to keep her in the party for role-playing reasons, but because she was so hard lacking in skill I wanted to dump her. This is in sheer contrast with Sarevok who has a great story combined with godlike stats and decent equipment.

I have to disagree on that one. I was playing it on hard mode and in the final bout with the star wolf team. I had all of then down except Wolf and randomly Star wolf did the 'you got me' message...immediately followed by slippy's "Hey I got one!!"

I now have a little bit more respect for the lil guy. Just a little.

Sheva from resi 5 seems to get alot of crap, but I never had any problems with her on my run through on professional I chose the ai over playing with my brothers and finished the run through only dying 3 times total

and yeah Magikarp is crap, but Gyarados by far makes it worth putting up with it

There's a really useless guy you have to play as for a brief moment in Project Zero / Fatal Frame 3. Two Japanese school girls go into the haunted house armed with a camera to fight off the evil ghosts. He goes in with nothing. This means you have to play this manly man while he hides behind cupboards and screens from the ghosts. You read that right. Japanese school girls are more useful than this dude.
