Boogey Tent
New Age Retro Hippie
Both from Earthbound, so under appreciated because they are just enemies, however if you take a step back and realize that "I am fighting a giant tent with a saucepan" it can really add value to the character.

There's also Scooter from Borderlands. Really funny character whose lines are absolutely crazy awesome.

People shit on her because it's the hip thing to do, but if you didn't understand what makes Oerba Dia Vanille one of the most well-written characters in any J-RPG ever, then that's your fault. Remarkably layered and more emotionally stimulating than Final Fantasy has ever been, Vanille's struggle to face the negative repercussions of her own unflappable benevolence is the true centerpiece of Final Fantasy XIII. If they'd centered the game around her right from the outset rather than forcing us to watch Snow Villiers be a dumbass for ten hours, the end result would have been a much better game. I liked it anyways, though.
It's hip to shit all over a terribly contrived character archetype with a terrible Australian accent?

Could have fooled me.

You like her? That's fine, but 'one of the most well-written JRPG characters ever' and it's my fault for not recognising that?

There is no palm huge enough and no face exasperated enough to show my feelings for that statement.

OT: Tobi!

The best racing rival a Sun Goddess could ever hope to have.
Tobi. Yes Tobi...
I played Okami only recently (and I'm already sad I finished it twice, :sadlol:) and Tobi is one of my favorite character.
At first I was like "the fuck is this?", but as the race continued, I liked him more and more, until the end... manly tears were shed that time. :'(

I can only pick one? Impossible!

Brock from pokemon. He's an expert battler, ex gym leader, chef, and doctor. Yet the whole show is about the annoying kid?
I second this, but then again, his lines for eyes kind've bothered me when I was a kid, I didn't get how he could still see everything.
I had the same problem with Dr Bunson from the Muppets! THEY DIDN'T EVEN GIVE HIM EYES!!!
Yet Jughead is my favorite character in Archie comics.

And can't forget the search for love and the fact that his pokemon is a giant rock snake.

Vectorman was a fun game character and the game was a lot of fun. The sequal wasn't as great, but it still played like Vectorman. I'd like to see Vectorman in a new game, but thanks to multiplayer FPSs and Uncharted, that doesn't seem very likely.

Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank games.

The only one left of his species, has saved the galaxy on multiple occassions, and damn it Sony he deserves an HD remake for the PS3!

Kang from Jade Empire, that guy made me die laughing;
'Next time I'm going to use explosives - explosives shaped like bananas! Gets rid of thieves, monkeys and monkey-thieves in one fell swoop!'

Kanae from 5 CM/Sec. Goddamnit movie, how can you break a girl down so mericlessly and just leave her in the proverbial gutter of the plot to focus on the main characters?!

Her and Minorin from Toradora. Same reaosn, essentially. I hate it how romances seem to enjoy breaking down secondary characters and then ignoring them as if the audience doens't care.

Martha Jones. She really wasn't that bad. I mean, sure, the whole "romantic subplot" thing sucked, but that wasn't HER fault. And anyway..

In the finale, she basically became Gordon Freeman. Come on. That's pretty awesome.

On a related note, Rose annoyed the hell out of me.

Wallace from Scott Pilgrim

I haven't read the comics yet, but I loved Wallace in the movie. Partially because he's awesome and hilarious, partially because I'm totally him without all the sex. Well, I'm the gay best friend of a guy who was juggling his Romona Flowers-esque ex-girlfriend and his fake high school girlfriend...

I guess the main one I'm thinking of is Sho Minamimoto from The World Ends With You. He's seriously one of the best antagonists ever.
He's so zetta awesome! I want his hat...

I guess I should throw out a Dragon Ball character, Piccolo. While he's not as underappreciated as Yamcha and Tenshinhan, he definitely takes a backseat to the Saiyans. Captain Rex from Star Wars: The Clone Wars comes to mind as well, mostly because the show in general is underappreciated.

Also, while I'm at it, Linebeck and Midna, everyone constantly brings up how annoying Navi and now Fi are, but lets not forget that sometimes Zelda sidekicks are awesome (Like Zelda in Spirit Tracks), Elzo's pretty cool too. Oh, and that brings me to Vaati, way cooler bad guy than Ganondorf.
