Im tempted to say wolverine, I like dual-wielding, quick, savage fighters and hes got an interesting history. Legion has always been interesting to me as well, but in the end I shall have to say Nightcrawler

My top 3 would be:
1.Night-crawler- If I could have one power, I would want to have his.

2.Deadpool- I never paid much attention to him at first, but when Marvel vs Capcom 3 was released, he was one of my best characters. (but I don't think he counts as part of the X-men)

3.Havoc- He started out as a jerk in the beginning of X-men First Class, but I thought he was cool towards the end of the movie.

Bishop. Excellent concept, interesting power, and if you screwed with history, he would END you.

Honestly, I would have to go with Nightcrawler.

I just love both his character (the backstory and the personality) and his powers make him badass on a level that is hard to comprehend.

To kill him you would literally have to destroy every place he has ever been to in a way that fundamentally changes the landscape, all the while avoiding the fact that he could in all likelihood teleport a fucking car on your head.
Um, you obviously haven't been keeping up with the comics have you?
No, but I'm assuming that they've handicapped him in some retarded way like a line of sight teleport only.
Yes, LoS problem. Here is something what might me interesting...

Kurt Wagner is a mutant whose primary mutant power is the ability to teleport himself, his clothing, and a certain amount of additional mass from one point to another virtually instantaneously. He does this by means of displacing himself through an alternate dimension briefly and reappearing in a desired, pre-selected location. He has been shown to be able to teleport distances of up to two miles (3 km) under optimal conditions, although it is at his extreme limit, and he can become severely fatigued if he tries to teleport that distance (in one case, however, he teleports somewhere over 50 miles (80 km)).[46] In a final, dying effort to rescue the mutant messiah Hope, he manages to teleport them both from Las Vegas, Nevada to the mutant safehold Utopia, just off the coast of San Francisco, a roughly 413 miles (665 km) distance. Nightcrawler's teleportation ability is also affected by direction ? north-south along Earth's "magnetic lines of force" is easier than east-west against them.

You gotta love a character with the balls to unironically holler shit like "I summon the full power of the storm!"

But still, I have to commit social suicide by going with Wolverine as my fav.

I like Iceman. I didn't expect to be quite so far in the minority with that one. Hmm. Nightcrawler is also one of my favorites.

Bishop (Looks at username... Bishop is always taken as it's a really common last name)
Gambit (Mad dude.)
Wolverine (Bad ass.)
Beast (Smart and physically powerful, also he turned himself blue. That's cool even if it was an accident)
Psyloche (Dude, all young boys loved her. Surely)
Professor X (I don't understand why he doesn't telekinesis himself to make it look like he's walking.)

Yeah, they're all really common but they're the ones I loved as a kid so I don't really care that everyone knows who they are now.

I liked the obvious choices as a kid.

I'll just go right ahead and admit that I've never owned any of the comics and I just read my cousin's comics and saw some of the cartoon.

I'll say Gambit because I think his power would be one of the most useful. Sure, all he does is make stuff blow up, but a lot of people forget that he has the power to control kinetics, not just to blow things up. If he practiced with that power he could be the Flash if he wanted to.

Also, he's from Louisiana, so I feel a bit of a cultural connection to him.

Runner up would have to be Storm, because her powers are so potentially broken it's laughable.

What about Beast? Beast was always my favorite X-Man alongside Nightcrawler.

Out of the X-men i have three favourites. Wolverine, Professor X and Nightcrawler. Each awesome in their own right.

But my all time favourite character in the X-men universe is Magneto. He's a complicated and a fascinating character.

Cable because in the Cable and Deadpool run he was supercharged with Deadpool's DNA, turned the entire world pink then rebuilt a space station with his mind.

Just his methods really. And the confident, smart ass attitude.
That, and I prefer polearms and throwing knives in close combat (ignoring for a moment the practicality of a gun). Making Playing Cards explode has to be one of the most awesome concepts ever.
And just being able to add kinetic energy to anything is pretty cool. That is why he gets my vote as favorite X-Men

Will I be the only one to say Rogue? She's my favorite because A. she can kill people by touching them. And B. She's hot. That's all I'm going to say.

(Dark) Phoenix and Emma Frost.

Phoenix cause she's de-facto the most powerful of all of them and Emma cause i always preferred heroes who relied more on cunning and scheming than brute force.
Hence my least favorite has always been Wolverine.

gambit has always been such a fucking boss to me, since the first time i saw him in the 1992 cartoon he has been "the one".

however for adding another one in, i always did have a fancy for rogue, if she could just further develop/control her power, she could basically be the ultimate mutant(holding powers for much longer, essentially hold more than just one, if i was her i'd get at least 10-20 mutants in a room and touch all of them at the same time)
