I think most people tend to blow things out of proportion. Yes, there are some seriously messed up things in the world, but that doesn't mean you should lose faith in humanity over it. At least we have the ability to recognize that some things are just wrong.

And then, I thought about how Gaddafi was obsessed with Condoleezza Rice and even had a photo album of her in a compound. That is creepy! Oh God. I just lost faith in humanity!

My copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution didn't arrive.

And it's a bank holiday weekend.

Which means I won't see my copy until Tuesday.

My God. You both are such poor souls. I probably shouldn't mention that it's a ton of fun. Or how it's about as close to perfect as you can get in a gaming experience. Or that the story and characters are interesting and fun and it almost feels like every individual NPC is unique and I rarely ran into two people saying the same thing. Because that would be evil and cruel. It'd be rubbing your noses in your own failure. And that really would make you lose your faith in humanity.

Seriously, I highly recommend the game. But when you get it, I recommend investing in the social augmentation early. Best damn investment I made in the game.

We survived the Dark Ages, we have internet pornography and said internet with which we have access to more knowledge than God. Plus our art, literature and music are pretty much a gigantic monument to our awesomness and willingness to make good things better.

But there are always those moments that make me shake my head at humanity and ask: ''Why?''

I have no faith in humanity because... Humanity sucks! Humans have shown time and time again that we as group are unreliable, violent, racists, and pig head. We are in world were a man who toured and kill innocent animals for profit is now honored and glorified. We live world were a man tried to wipe out a whole group of people he didn't like and his own people were fine with. Trust me if humanity just disappeared no one miss it.

Sure there's lots of terrible things in the world- but that just means we have to work on fixing them. I know it's hard, but things have steadily been getting better, it's just a matter of time.


Besides, (and this may sound odd to some people) but I have hope because I don't believe in religious teachings. It's a lot easier to be disappointed in humanity when you think of them as literally God's gift to the world, than as piles of protoplasm that have clawed their way to the top and must figure out their own way run the world.

That may sound like an insult- but it's not, I'm proud of the good our species has managed to accomplish.
