Here comes the hatred... 'America' and especially patriotic feelings about the country in general. It just makes no sense to me after all that's happened, the troubles there. The government... the rescission, all that and people can still somehow feel pride for their country? I don't have faith in humanity, to me six billion people on Earth are just an abstract concept, I have faith in individual people. Besides humanity as a whole is too sinful and too flawed a creature to create anything of eternal significance, our technological progresses have far exceeded our ability to use them morally and responsibly. Also I don't have faith in the world because I realize how insignificant human beings really are, if we were gone the universe at large would hardly notice our absence, my belief as a Christian leads me to believe that a more eternal figure known as God is worth having faith in.

"Most" does not mean the same thing as "all". I associate with smart and interesting people, but they are extremely few and far between.

your standards must be too high if you believe that most of the people you haven't yet met or hardly know are stupid and uninteresting.

I really don't think they are. Where I work is notoriously elitist about its employee's educational backgrounds and still I'm stunned on an almost hourly basis at how stupid the people I come into contact are. These are supposed to be graduates from some of the best universities in the world so I shudder to think how dumb the general population is.

even though you have probably heard this a billion times already the words knowledge and smart don't mean the same thing you could have all the knowledge of the future and still be too stupid to use it. and what you where saying about how you only associate with smart and interesting people is kind of a double standard as that may be what others think of you as well.
