It uses PayPal and Amazon. I don't use PayPal and Amazon.

I would be a pub-club member already if it used something closer to me.

Oh, and the benefits aren't that great, but, hey, with the amount of free content on here...

Why would I want to be? I don't mind about the adverts, since I get them on almost every site I visit now anyway, I think HD is a fad, and since I don't even have an HD laptop it makes no sense, and I don't particularly want another forum in which to discuss things. I have quite enough pointless chit-chat on the regular forums to contend with.

None of other benefits that I'm aware of seem worth anything either, why would I want larger avatar images when they just slow down my computer? Why would I want extra badges when I'm not an achievement whore? Why would I want to be able to change my title?

So in short, the Publisher's Club has absolutely nothing to entice me with. I view it in the same category I place 3D and Blu-Ray in. A pointless fad that I'm rather angry people are wasting money on.

Due to lack of cash, simply as that.
So the feature that would have to be there would for them to somehow give me the money to pay them, and that won't really work now will? =) Because trust me, I am well up for that deal lol.

I don't have a job and the stuff that comes with buying the membership isn't worth it for me.

Because i have become disillusioned with this site and even if i weren't i don't have money to waste on such trivialities anyway? $20 is a sizeable amount of cash where i live, i don't want to spend it on a bigger avatar and a title propagandizing how awesome Lombaxes are on a site that i hardly use anyway. Short version: it isn't worth it.

Well I really can't see the benefits.
Zero Punctuation in HD?
It is in yellow and black mostly... I don't think the monotone colors gain much more depth in HD, and so I got no reasons to get it.

Doesn't really offer me anything I want to be honest. Plus I generally don't ever spend money for non-tangible online stuff, and I really hate recurring subscriptions. There's already taxes and other bills I'll heave t deal with in life, I try to make all my other purchases one time things when possible.

I'd imagine lack of interest or funds. Personally, I enjoy contributing to the Escapist, and the custom title is real neat-o!

There really isn't a reason for me. For the most part, I don't spend that much money on non-tangibles. One could argue that $20 isn't that much but one of the reasons that my finances continue to be in such great shape despite life's occasional curveball is that I sweat the small stuff. You spend $20 here and there and that stuff adds up by the end of the year.

Even going beyond the money and the non-tangible reasons, I just looked at the benefits and they are all useless.

HD video: To paraphrase Yahtzee, I'm not going to think these videos are better if there is a 20% jump in resolution.
Podcasts and RSS feeds: Who cares?
Get a backstage look at The Escapist's production pipeline, including outtakes, behind-the-scenes, sneak previews, drafts, and members-only contests. : Don't care about the nuts and bolts of how they do it.
A custom title: I don't care about my title now.
Early access to upcoming site features: So I can pay to be a Beta tester?
Ad-Free: Meh. Some of the ads are amusing.
Shipping Discounts from SCIFIGENRE: I don't buy anything there.
A discount at Edges of Reality: I actually have two FULLY SHARPENED blades. I have no need for a replica sword that would be dull and useless in an actual panic situation.
Discount for New York Comiccon: Wouldn't go anyway.
Automatic Contest Entries: I don't bother entering the contests now.
Exclusive Member forum: So? Most of those people probably come out here now. Plus, while Gamefaqs may not be a good indicator of this, I find that most people in exclusive forums can be territorial wankers.
Ability to be part of a focus group and fill out surveys on the site's direction: Nothing that I would participate in.

In the end, I come here to watch the video and use the forums. If they put out a T-Shirt that I like, I may support them that way. But, even if I did spend money on intangibles, none of this would really entice me to join. I'm not saying all this to troll but that's just how I feel about it.

At the moment, it's because I'm short on cash. I have to wait for my paycheck on Friday before considering it. Not only that, but the only way you can subscribe is via Paypal or Amazon. I've never used them, so I don't know if my local currency would be supported, since I would not be paying in US dollars. I have a bank account here in USD, but it's one I have decided not to use besides as a way to protect my money in case the value of the Costa Rican colon takes a hit. Now, if I had the money, I would do so. I honestly want to support this site. If all goes well and either Paypal or Amazon works with my local currency, I'm pretty sure I'll do it next week.

Lack of money combined with figuring out how to actually pay for it produces procrastination. I will eventually but it'll be awhile methinks. The biggest attractions for me are the HD video, the personal title and the bigger avatar. I just have to figure out if it is worth it...

£15 isn't worth a big avatar, custom name thing and a bunch of discounts for a load of American stores I can't make use of because I'm in Britain.
Adverts are easy enough to ignore anyway.
