Why are you not a member of the Publishers Club?

I hate the name, "publishers club" suggests a reward for saying something of some worth not paying for the privelege.
I am unaware of the benefits of private forums, namely forums where I can only read a minority of peoples opinions as only a minority of people can contribute. If $20 is designed to keep the trolls away I think the mods do a good job in the pub forums and troll threads are easy to avoid.
I don't watch any of the videos since ZP no longer amuses me and my netbook can't show HD.
Ad's are annoying but not $20 worth of annoying, if they annoyed me that much I wouldn't use the escapist.
While the escapist is a good way to pass time I don't want to give money to a website with banning/suspending/probation rules that I feel are a bit daft.
I don't want to give money to a website that (unfortunatly) acts as a platform for unpleasent people (as is the nature of any forum I guess).

The Escapist has suffered a large drop in quality lately (my opinion) so I wouldn't bother paying for it to look crisper.

or watch ZP or unskippable but even by paying the subscription i wouldn't ever get any use of it which the normal escapist doesn't already offer

I'd just be repeated what others have said but primarily; the sites content [as in the whole inclusive package, including forums] isn't worth paying money for - there's nothing on this site you can't find better elsewhere; particularly reviews and columns regarding the industry of which there are an abundance of better sites...
Add in the ludicrous moderation system and the fact no decent videos on this site would be substantially improved with HD quality [and by decent I mean Zero Punctuation because the rest of them are awful] and I can't see why anyone would want to pay...

I just dont think the Crummy benifits justify the cost (Which would be combined with a credit card fee which would be considerable. Also the adds are so small, I rarely even conciouslly notice themselves, Puls I can still watch ENN, ZP, Etra Credits,Unskippable Etc.
add another to the 'i dont have the money to spend on it when ive got other stuff to buy' list
plus the escapist is perfectly fine being free, for what i want to use it for, i.e watching the video's reading the articles and posting occasionally,

Reasons for why I'm not in the Publishers Club even though I want to:
1. I'm a student. (which basicly means I got debt over my head as it is)
2. I don't have a proper bank card yet that I can use on the internet. ('Cause if I got one I doubt I'd have any money at all left...)
3. I like the ads the Escapist shows and don't want to pay for them to disappear.

So far I the service hasn't appealed to me. I love the escapist, but everything I want I get for free. Keep up the good work guys!
Don't have money to waste (no offense) and they don't really offer anything I'm interested in. The adds are nicely constructed and not really intrusive (the ones in videos suck a bit, but I don't rage over 10 seconds of adverts), HD videos don't interest me at all, it's just extra time wasted waiting for a video to load instead of watching it when normal quality is more than acceptable and... well all the other extra's aren't even worth mentioning as far as my interest goes.Kouen said:

Just like with a million other things in life for that matter, just because something is cheap/worth the money, doesn't mean you instantly throw your cash at it

HD Videos wouldn´t make anything better, I think the videoquality is fine, thank you, also my PC would lag up when attempting HD videos. Also I mostly look ZP, MovieBob, ExtraCreditz and the like, they do not improve through HD.
