Same same. As much as I love The Escapist, I don't have a job. Which means what little money I have goes towards games and stuffs. For example, I think I'll have to get Trine. It's $5 right now.Offworlder said:I don't have the money. Even if it is cheap.
Hang on a minute...Sonic Doctor said:I'll tell you that the HD is a worthwhile reason. I see so many people here scoffing at it, little do they realize how much better it is. I even say this to people that are saying they just watch ZP, even ZP looks a whole lot better.
The title is awesome, I love being a Time Lord.
Oh and definitely one of the best things is no ads. At my university, the more a page has to load stuff, the more it racks up on the how much bandwidth I am using list that they have. The more internet I use the slower it gets. So not having to load ads is a great relief. My university's crap bandwidth rules are so bad, that it took me a week to download a game off of Steam. In a sense, it was like buying a game off of Amazon and waiting for it to be delivered.

So I put it to you my Non Pub Club Escapist Comrades! Why are you not a member and what would make you want to be a member?

This, preety much. Also, the benefits provided by the Publisher's Club aren't really compelling enough to warrant registration. HD videos aren't much of an upgrade from the standard ones and anyone who has spent considerable time on the internet has probably trained himself/herself to ignore advertisements (I know I have). The extra forum features are all trivial fluff and the discounts aren't worth much, especially if you live outside North America.Offworlder said:I don't have the money. Even if it is cheap.
Now why did you put those points I made in bold? I have a feeling that you did that because you are trying to point out that HD eats up bandwidth. It actually eats up far less bandwidth than people think, far less than loading tons of ads. If anything, the no ads cancels out the small extra bandwidth from HD videos and I still have a little extra bandwidth to spare.Aeriath said:Hang on a minute...Sonic Doctor said:I'll tell you that the HD is a worthwhile reason. I have the money to get publishers club. I have never looked into it before, but now that I have I can't say that that it is worth £15 to me.
Honestly, I've never watched a single extra video. Maybe I should go change that, I dunno.newuseforvintage said:IE: The backstage look at the production pipeline, out-takes etc.. That sounds boring as. What it really is? Extra videos, stuff that doesn't make the cut for ENN etc but is still funny as hell.
Most of the ads from the Escapist I see are still images (2 per page on the forums) so I find it hard to believe that not viewing them negates the extra bandwidth used by HD, but if that is your experience then I can't argue with it since I was just estimating. As for the value of HD, I guess I've never really seen it because I don't own an HD TV.Sonic Doctor said:Now why did you put those points I made in bold? Ever since I started using an HD TV for my computer screen, I have been watching everything online in HD. I get the bandwidth throttle down from my university only about a hour sooner than if I don't watch stuff in HD. Losing an extra hour is worth it for HD. No more fuzzy videos, they are all crisp and smooth.
