Why do people relate "hardcore" gamers to pot-heads?

Because a lot of us 'potheads' (I loathe that phrase and all it implies, but I digress and rant) are heavy gamers. I think its more accurate to say weed smokers tend to play games, rather than gamers tend to smoke weed.

The two do go together well, except when some bullshit context sensitive bit masquerading as a cut scene kills you when your having a quick tootle on your joint instead of pressing X at the appropriate time (I'm looking at you resi5- is it a cutscene? Is it part of the game? Make your fuckin mind up because I want to put the kettle on!)

Plus, with the way I walk up to my similarly dressed, similarly attituded (i know its not a word) friend, and use the classical "I saw a mud crab the other day" conversation from oblivion with the blandness (and accent) of actual Oblivion npc's, I have to say that I cant blame them.

Ah man! I can relate! Oblivion is a such a wonderful game it's hard not to get lost in the real world.

I hear this rumor alot. Guess because the people who are Hard Core Gamers dress with big jackets and are "anti-social." I would know, people associate drugs + gaming + me because of how I act. Which is complete separation from most people.

Haha good to know I'm not alone with hearing this rumor.

On topic tho, I've never heard anybody say this is true but I've seen it a little bit. Mostly I think it's because people who refer to themselves as "hardcore" gamers clearly don't have a good grasp on reality and therefore are assumed to have some sort of drug-induced mental deficiency. Yes, that's correct, I just took a shot at "hardcore" gamers.

so what did you major in? I choose illusion.
I have found that I am more in tune with reality and my society/surroundings than the same people who look at me funny for being a gamer.

And your quetion is? My major is Illusion and Restoration. I use all other feilds though, but not as much.

In case you didn't know, potheads can be some of the most arrogant and pretentious people on the planet. They'll basically give call themselves anything to make them look more multi-cultural. Stoners, on the other hand, just don't give a shit.

When I think of hardcore gamers I think of people who are jumpy, get really angry when they die, that kind of thing.

Pot heads are the total opposite.. Easy going, calm.
