Why do so many people hate Naruto?

Why would you read the manga on youtube when there are perfectly fine sites to follow manga on that actually has something called image quality? :p

Aaaanyway, I can agree to that it's pretty childish (especially the start). I'm not even watching the fillers, but I can see why they put them there.

And to the people who says "there's so much better stuff to watch":
What? Please tell me what it is, I can't find anything I haven't watched that's better. Just because something isn't the best you've ever seen doesn't mean that it's bad. And nowadays it only takes me 30 minutes a week to watch it, plenty time for other anime/manga.

The FANS are why I hate it. Naruto itself is mediocre, but the FANS treat it like some sort of God-send that everything else, even things that came before it, must be held up to. There are people who think that there are spells to make Naruto real, there are people who think Looney Toons are horrible because the characters do not have powers like the characters from Naruto, and they wear those EMBARRASSING head-bands everywhere. I would now, one of my friends is a Narutard. His first thought whenever a ninja is brought up is Naruto.

NARUTO IS A CANCER. It makes me ashamed to be in the same age bracket as the target audience.
Ok, I'll admit... They're pretty crappy, and Naruto isn't really a ninja :p

I skipped the filler part and just read the manga. I liked a few of the characters, none of which were the main characters, so I dropped it. I don't hate the series, in fact, some of the parts were good. What I hate are the ridiculous fans, but there's fans like that for almost anything.

It's popular culture, so people hate it either because:

- it is popular and that automatically makes it inferior in the minds of elitists,
- it is "bastardised" by you name it: fillers, dubs, even subs for some,
- you cannot like both Bleach and Naruto in the minds of some fans,
- they believe there are legitimate reasons to hate it within subjectivity (this applies even when said belief is not true), or
- they are trolling you.

None of these "reasons" make people worth paying attention to when they start spouting hatred for a piece of work.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: fan arguments are nothing but a bunch of banter that has no meaningful outcome or intent past direct hormonal expression for teenagers. Pay no attention to this activity, past being amused at how stupid the amount of energy getting wasted is, and your life will noticeably improve effective immediately.

Myself, I like several things that count as high culture, and many that count as low culture, so I don't judge people on what they're interested in. If someone else thinks I should or shouldn't hate something, they are taking up more authority than they really have. It always looks silly.

A bunch of stupid reasons, really.

1) Because it's popular. People have an irritating drive to hate what they think everyone else loves.

2) Because of "Narutards." Some of the fans are morons, and apparently, to some people, that affects the quality of the show itself. Which is fricking stupid.

3) Because of the filler. It's easy enough to skip, and the filler in Shippuuden is actually really good, but people hate the entire show just for that anyway.

4) Because of the English dub ("Believe it!"). Yes, it's an absolutely terrible, horrifically bad dub, but it's just another lesson learned: never, EVER watch the dub on ANY anime (though there are a few extremely rare exceptions).

5) Because there are better anime out there. Well yes... but if "there's better stuff" was a valid reason to avoid something, we'd all watch nothing but Star Wars. Just because there is better stuff doesn't mean something isn't worth watching.

6) It's overhyped. Which is true. But this is stupid for a similar reason it's stupid to hate it for the fans: if the show is good, it's good regardless of the hype. Hype does not affect the actual quality of any given product, and to think otherwise is just stupid.

7) Because it's anime. And while it's okay to dislike anime (personal preference), to claim something sucks because it's anime is arrogant, closed-minded, and shows no respect for the very concept of art and storytelling. But I could write a paper on that: basically, "I don't like anime" means you are not qualified to judge, not that you can claim it sucks.

And yeah, that's basically it. I personally really like Naruto: it was a bit hard to get used to, but once I understood why the battles played out like they did and really got to know the characters it got really, really good. And Shippuuden has been better than the original series ever was (though I think the soundtrack for the first 220 episodes was better than the music in Shippuuden).

And for the record, Blue Bird and Hotaru no Hikari (both openers for Shippuuden, by Ikimono Gakari) are two of my favorite songs ever.

I don't like it because THE FLASH BACKS OMG WHY ALL THE FLASH BACKS!

As Mustang said as he was waking up from a dream, "Oh don't worry, just another boring flash back."

Because Naruto is to Ninja's, what Twilight is to vampires. Not to as much the same extent, i mean i feel that Naruto is a far lesser evil then the twilight franchise (I.E if given the choice of which one to read/watch, i'd pick naruto without a second guess) and has atleast some character development and plot (Which twilight has none of, regardless of what the fanbase says). But, really, i dislike it namely for the way in which ninja's are portrayed, and that is my opinion.

Man, I just got out of a Twilight flaming, ah well.

Yeah, it's a good point, a sort of bastardisation, although, I wouldn't say to the same extent, so much as people take Twilight more seriously (I haven't heard anything about Team Sasuke). They're both ripped off the legends and putting an inappropriate spin on it, ninjas are supposed to be about stealth, not shadow clone jut sues!

Simply put, pacing. Naruto has some great fight scenes and some interesting plot lines and characterization, and maybe the writer could be given credit for trying to create huge, epic story, but nothing in the series is good enough to keep me interested over 100 non-filler episodes. Pacing is necessary, and at times, closure.

Here is a question, has any series EVER been still good aftet 100 episodes, or maybe 15 volumes of a manga?
Well, there's Stargate SG-1, but you're probably just talking about anime...
Not familiar with SG-1, but I wasn't just talking about anime. The desire to make money is pretty much cross-cultural, and plenty of American shows have mired about in mediocrity long after they should have been shut down purely to wring some more money out of the fandom. 'House' and 'Scrubs' immediately come to mind, 'Law and Order' before either of those, 'Burn Notice' has seen some serious decline recently.

People hate it because it is the fast food of anime. But just because something is not a masterpiece doesn't mean it can't be any good. If you have a problem with the American translation, then download the subbed versions from dattebayo. I usually always prefer the japanese voices anyway. Maybe because I don't really have much of an ear for the language.

Scrubs went downhill fast after the fifth season. They just lost the magic. But yeah, I highly recommend SG-1. It's one of the few series that Hulu still has all the episodes of all the seasons for. They had over 200 episodes, and while many fans say that the 9th and 10th seasons weren't as good because Hammond and O'Neill weren't there, they were still entertaining and far more worth watching than 95% of what's on TV nowadays.

OT: Because of what it symbolizes, which is every cliche I (and others) hate about anime, ESPECIALLY the fanbase. Dear lord, the fanbase. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good anime series as much as a good live action series. But there are many overused cliches that never fail to annoy me. I don't think I have to make a list.

I hate it like I hate DBZ in english. It's bastardized and garbage, simple as that. I liked the manga plenty though.

Actually I hate DBZ too as of late, even the japanese one, compared to Dragon Ball Kai, DBZ is an ass sandwich.

Dragonball Kai: DBZ with all the filler cut out, so no 3 episode genki dama charge.

I only watch it out of habit now. The first 100 or so episodes where great and had potential. In todays episodes no one actually seems like a Ninja anymore. Too many super techniques and boring drama *rolleyes*

psssst watch one piece instead >:3

I'm not a fan, but I'll say this, it's better than Dragonball Z. At least Naruto doesn't take a whole season to get to a good fight.

I liked it. But then again, ive never watched the anime. I have only read the Manga, which is completley devoid of fillers. Which is a very nice touch.

Im not going to say its the best thing in the world, or even the best manga/anime in the world, but its pretty good and quite funny at times so i will keep reading it.
