Hey now, if a girlfriend enjoys my pheromones so much that she wants my shirt, I won't begrudge her the privilege.

However, how about a little reciprocity here? About how many shirts to a bra? ;)

(And no, contrary to what you might have seen in a phrat movie, you really don't want used panties. Not unless you have a thing for yeast.)

No clue why they do it, but I think it's kinda sexy/cute when a girl wears my shirts.

Or anything of mine really.
You're just a little narcissist, aren't you? ;)

-it's not that the shirts smell like BO, they just smell like you in a way that only those intimate with you know. It's the same thing with why slept in sheets are way sexier than fresh clean ones. The sense of smell is the sense of memory, after all.
-marking territory
-it's a 24/7 hug.
-it's sexy, mostly because of these reasons and the fact that these shirts are often worn with little else.
-girls can cross dress.

idk why they wouldn't give them back after a breakup, though, or why you wouldn't ask for them back...

Interesting, I've been unaware of this phenomenon until now. By the way, does she steal them and wear them or could it just be that she don't like them and don't want you to wear them and thus steals them. Because my mom and sisters and female friends do seem to be unnaturally interested in what T-shirts I'm wearing, so it might just be that.

Because our men don't stop us, lol ^__^ But honestly, I find it comforting during the nights when my guy can't be with me, but I do try and return his shirts and hoodies in the same condition I find them (clean and folded although I wish I could fix the holes in sleeves)... so I guess would make me more of a barrower then thief

I've *borrowed* a sweater or two from my better half (especially when he's away on a business trip, then the cat and I curl up around it and inhale the scent). However, I've never borrowed, much *stolen* anything from my boyfriends.
So I'm not sure if I can really help with your query. Logic would dictate that they would borrow one or two t-shirts, and most importantly, that they would return them after the break-up...

Am I the only one who gets creeped out by this? It's dressed up as something all cute and sweet and such, but think about it...the woman wants the clothes so that she can cuddle up with them and continually breathe in your scent. That's a behaviour I'd associate with creepy sex offenders!

Reverse the genders and it's horrifying. Picture a guy cuddling up with small pink shirts, bras, underwear, what have you, nuzzling into them, inhaling deeply to catch the woman's scent...does this not disturb anyone? I don't see the difference just because you flip genders.

And yes, taking my first girlfriend as an example in which this phenomenon was the most predominant (was with her for over 3 years). Over time she took the only two sweaters I owned, several t-shirts, and many pairs of boxers. The idea of her holding these articles of clothing up to her face and sniffing it like crack doesn't exactly make me go "D'awwwwwww!"

She never wore this stuff in public so the whole "making a statement" argument is out.

A number of years ago, my best friend (who is a woman) was going on and on about how her boyfriend left his shirt there and how happy it made her to just hold it up and smell it. Throughout the conversation, my thoughts oscillated between "Ew" and "Just WHAT exactly is wrong with you?" EVERY girlfriend I've ever had has always commented at some point that I "smell so good." I remain tight-lipped and impassive so as to not betray my misgivings.

I don't think I'll ever be able to understand this disturbing phenomenon. Can anyone think of a common male equivalent? I'm trying, but nothing comes to mind. It's not like I steal her lip gloss and put it on when she's not around to remind me how pretty she is.

Yea my girlfriend just said "I can't explain it, it's just nice." Then as an afterthought "it has your smell on it and it's comforting". That's the best she got for an answer to your question man.
^ this.
Then again, right now my boyfriend has stolen my COD:MW2 shirt. >____<

Don't know, but I would imagine it's so they can feel closer when the boyfriend isn't around. Plus, large t-shirts make for awesome pajamas.

SO if you ever run away, they can give the shirt to their sniffer dogs and track your ass down!

That's an excuse for nabbing one or two. It's not an excuse to make off with half my wardrobe.
Now, this may sound like a fairly radical concept, but she may like your clothes.

This is not unusual. Women have been stealing clothes for decades, and it's likely that they will steal your clothes because it is generally acceptable, and they're more comfortable.

She stole my favorite hoodie, i dont care how much she liked me, that hoodie was too awesome to smell of sweet sweet cherries...god she smelled good...

Right then...
But... she's making your hoodie smell BETTER... how is that a bad thing?

Because they look hot while wearing them obviously.

Actually saying that it does annoy me when I buy a new shirt, my girlfriend swipes it and tries it on and because she looks so goddamn good while wearing it I can't bring myself to ever claim it back. And so the cycle continues.

What you do is buy two of the same shirts, but one a much smaller size. Then simply swap them without her knowing - that way she'll put one on, realise it fits her really snug, and then go on a weight loss program. That'll teach her.

I always thought it was because we steal their panties..... you know, a revenge thing.

I actually read somewhere that it was the pheromones that were on it.

Yeah, I think the smell thing's important.
Also, it might be like a status symbol. Like "look at me with my man's shirt. this proves i have a boyfriend. HA!"
