Again, as with my TF2 question, it seams that so many people here hate MW2 multiplayer. Again, I agree with them, but why does everybody else here seem to hate it? I can't go one day with out seeing several threads about how bad the game is, what is that encites so much hatred on this site? Is it the horrible balance? The "get instant killed by every cough" gameplay? The amount of easily exploitable cheap tactics and the amount of camping? The amount of 12 year olds in every, single, game? A "win any game by getting enough kills" mechanic that the Nuke presents? Why does MW2 get so much universal rage from this site?

(Please don't flame me, I am just curios as to why the game gets so much negative attention here)

Really and truly I don't find it terrible at all. My only problem was that I paid 60 Euros and got a short, and may I say over-the-top and non-sensical, story and pretty average, unbalanced, multiplayer. I had the ability to return it luckily. If they lowered the price by 30 Euros I'd consider buying it, but for THAT price, it can burn in hell. Might as well just buy Halo 3 for a quarter the price and have a better experience overall or Its main competitor, Bad Company 2.

Because nerds are never happy with what they're given,
if they hadn't been given mw2 they would currently be complaining about having it rather then bitching about it

It's cool to hate it, along with Halo, Gears of War, religion and JRPG's. If you want to be loved even more then say you love TF2, Half Life and Portal.

While I am half joking it does seem that the above seems scarily accurate for a rather large amount of people on this site.
Then colour me uncool since I like Modern Warfare 2, enjoy Halo 3, have a lot of fun with a friend at Horde on Gears of War and enjoy JRPG's quite a bit. Even worse...I never saw Half-Life as anything special *blasphemy*

So on topic..I actually quite like Modern Warfare 2. I've never faced hackers nor had huge issues with them. Really I only find the Double Shotties and Commando Pro thing annoying.
me too i love halo, gears and mw2 :) ..back on topic
mw2-i adore the campaign.. the matchmaking got old fast for me simply because of the issues with connecting with a match.. especially if you're laying with a group of friends.. the damn thing boots out half of your group the second it connects to a match.. drives me crazy.

I don't hate MW2s multiplayer. I've never played it, I'm fundamentally disinterested in it. I didn't play MW2 full stop, because I was only ever interested in the CoD franchise due to the singleplayer element. It's been getting shorter and less significant since the beginning, and MW2s is the least impressive of the lot. Not to mention they put the price up on PC, which is an absolute joke.

Umm...
I fucking love the game, actually.
And I don't even play it online.
EDIT: Awaiting Furbs comment so I can rage at him.
I agree with you man, but i do play it online and i enjoy every minute of it. I dont let the wide assortment of glitchers, cheaters, and racist 10 yr olds get to me, I payed my sixty bucks for the game, and goddammit im gonna get my money's worth.

I like the multiplayer at the start. I felt great killing a couple rank 15's and maybe 20's when I first started. But those were the early days and the community has dis-improved since then and I've slowly lost patience for it. That, and I overplayed it.

First of all, it's spelt "seem".

Second of all, it lags, it's on a poorly programmed peer to peer network where the host selection is random rather than choosing the most suitable host. It also kicks parties from matches for no reason.
The community is mostly made up of loudmouth scouser chavs, or American fratboys, or whiney 12 year old brats, or elitist pricks who get so worked up over certain tactics.

Activision wanted to charge £55 rrp for it, shops charged £45 on average, I don't think it's even worth £30. The campaign is as short as an expansion.

Also let's look at DLC, 1200MS points (around £10) for 3 new maps and 2 revamped Call of Duty 4 maps.

Those good enough reasons?

I'm indifferent towards it.

One thing though: I played multiplayer at the weekend - Steam was hosting it free - and I've got to say, they should have listened about the dedicated servers.

Games pause for a minute randomly because the host has disconnected and major lag means that people have to change their names to change the host.

Personally I think the series has gone on long enough; it used to have some heart (look at the first CoD's trailer compared to MW2's) but now its becoming a yearly thing.

Multiplayer got old at a medium speed, the campaign (imo) was short, but pretty good, and I personally was apalled by the absence of Taliban zombies.

And co op campaign was the reason my friends and I kept playing WaW. So that getting the boot wasn't fun.

Aye mate, I was literally shocked at how good at was the first time I played it :D Oh Zeus, I'm so glad that BC2 is such a spectacular game. Best upgrade ever. You rock DICE
I would love it if I didn't keep getting paired with idiots that snipe of Offensive Rush >.>

That, and online multiplayer isn't really my thing.

*shrug* I like it. Sure some things are annoying, but overall it's not that hard to enjoy yourself.

I personally blame Yahtzee for this, he's a funny guy but too many people seem to take his word as gospel. I like JRPGs and don't care who knows it. Although I must admit I join in with the hating of religion... and atheists even more than religeous people

My 2p on this is that MW2 is over-hyped, granted it's a very good game but peeps were going nuts over it, when it's a pretty standard shooter on a gameplay front...Pretty graphics don't make a game

Cause they suck at it. It's pretty balanced if you don't play stupid.
Tell that to the sniper I killed with duel M1887s at a range only a sniper rifle should be effective. And of course, there's the choppers which I thought were an idiotic idea to start with and shouldn't have even been in the original. I have to admit though, I never had a problem with knifers that everyone else seems to. Also, BC2 is better in every way, at least in terms of multiplayer.

I don't hate the game.
I hate having to squint at a laptop moniter to find green grey uniformed people amongst grey brown scenary.
I hate the dust.
I hate the paper.

Other than that, it's a fun game.

I hate the hackers.

I don't personally hate it, but I am curious as to why nobody thought it'd sell with just spec ops and whatnot. I mean, the story is ridiculous, so why not just get rid of that and make a huge mission pack? The franchise is forged in pure gold anyway, its not like it wouldn't sell.

That may be a bit of a long shot, but IMO the story was a joke, but the gameplay was pretty fun. They could have focused on a multiplayer based game with more maps and made the "spec ops" section larger as opposed to trying to write a Bond novel. Course, I suppose the single player oriented folks wouldn't like that too much. Although, with the expansion of the spec ops, more single player opportunities would be had too.

Well my friend. Being a PC gamer I went quiet mad when I realized they had turned it into a complete console game. There was nothing left that makes PC games superior or just gives it that PC-game feeling.

Oh and IW stealing things from the moding-community of COD:MW and adding them to COD:MW2 and not passing any credit to the guys who actually did it. I mean a a tiny line in the credits would had been awesome. At least DICE, Valve, Bioware, EPIC, Bethesda recognizes the community.
Then there is the Activ/IW thing of treating the consumers as complete morons.
