Why does everybody here seam to hate MW2?

While I am half joking it does seem that the above seems scarily accurate for a rather large amount of people on this site.

But everyone does love Portal, though.

yah i can agree with that, commando pro is way over-spammed, that's why i usually try to stay at a distance from people, though it has caused a blood-pressure rise now and then lol

People complain about the servers but rarely am I migrated and even then its faster than loading people's goddamn custom servers (namely CSS and the like) which people seems to think pimping out with quake sounds is awesome. I rather MW2 for that.

Aside from that, there are several infuriating aspects of the game, like people that camp with the riot shield because they don't know how to actually play. However I forgive those aspects because it actually is fun to play with people who can refrain from noobish tactics.

I don't hate it, I just feel its a mediocre game that is only fun if you have friends playing it with you. Also Battlefield Bad Company 2 is better in my opinion.

I personally blame Yahtzee for this, he's a funny guy but too many people seem to take his word as gospel. I like JRPGs and don't care who knows it. Although I must admit I join in with the hating of religion... and atheists even more than religeous people

My 2p on this is that MW2 is over-hyped, granted it's a very good game but peeps were going nuts over it, when it's a pretty standard shooter on a gameplay front...Pretty graphics don't make a game

maybe they don't take his word as gospel, maybe they you know AGREE with him. though I dislike the spliting of the RPG genre with this WRPG/JRPG BS. It's an RPG, if it's good it's good, if it's bad it's bad. Further more, everyone keeps saying Yahtzee is the reason for all the anti JRPG sentiment, but of the five he's reviewed he's liked four of them, and the fifth he didn't like not because it was a JRPG but because it was shit (I'm looking at you FF XIII)

Me thinks you misread my comment, I was saying the hatred of halo, gears of war, JRPGs etc was Yahtzees fault. Yes, some people may agree with him however I rarely seem to find anyone with a contradictory view point, one they've had all by themselves.

I can't go one day with out seeing several threads about how bad the game is, what is that encites so much hatred on this site? Is it the horrible balance? The "get instant killed by every cough" gameplay? The amount of easily exploitable cheap tactics and the amount of camping? The amount of 12 year olds in every, single, game? A "win any game by getting enough kills" mechanic that the Nuke presents? Why does MW2 get so much universal rage from this site?

(Please don't flame me, I am just curios as to why the game gets so much negative attention here)

Ok the fact that you say EVERYBODY i think that alone gives a bad impression on your topic since some people like MW2.

I like the multiplayer and I guess the assault rifles in the game are a little to good, but you can just use the assault rifles too good effect. The game has its problems, but find me a game that doesn't have some kind of problem. I'll give you this if you don't connect well to the host you may as well quit because of lag.

The single-player game is nothing more than shock moment after shock moment wrapped into a political conflict which makes little to no sense. The multiplayer game can be summed up in three words: no dedicated servers.

The multiplayer is just about the only thing that stops me from throwing it out, it's okay for a quick match to pass the time but other than that its abit meh. Servers tend to lag even when most people hav full bars, the amount of small chilren screaming down mics is just plain silly.

And don't get me started on kill streaks, I mean come on get your own kills!

Even with all of this though i don't hate it I just think it's over rated, nothing special.

personally I am not a fan as much as I was of COD4, mainly because the community's first impression....and to be honest you can't really enjoy playing a game with people you do not enjoy playing with. Normally I don't give 2 stanks about that.....but in this case the majority (no offense meant to the people who play and are not loud mouthed obnoxious little brats) of people I have come across online are just plain jerks. like I said normally community doesn't phase me, hell in Halo 3 I come across fellow laid back slightly high peeps who just wanna kill shiz and have fun....not foamy mouthed little rabid children who try to sass you first chance they get.

Then colour me uncool since I like Modern Warfare 2, enjoy Halo 3, have a lot of fun with a friend at Horde on Gears of War and enjoy JRPG's quite a bit. Even worse...I never saw Half-Life as anything special *blasphemy*

So on topic..I actually quite like Modern Warfare 2. I've never faced hackers nor had huge issues with them. Really I only find the Double Shotties and Commando Pro thing annoying.

hackers on the PC version exist and suck major balls. except one of em. hes so bad that even with a wall hack he got 10 deaths.
and double shottys are only a problem cuz u get way too close to them. fight any shotty at distance and you will own them.
as for commando pro, they had to give up another yellow perk, so at least you can hear em coming when they knife you

honestly? I don't care much for MW2, because I'm not into multiplayer skirmish/competitive/deathmatch stuff, I'm all about co-op and single player, and I have this to say: single player in MW2 is barely a walk in the park, you sneeze you missed half of it, and co-op feels like a last minute add on, it's kinda fun but they could at least tried to tie it up with some sort of story. I have played in multiplayer maybe like 2 times and I stopped short of falling asleep in front of the monitor

You missed the big reason and why people actually hate it on this site. They left out Dedicated Servers. that is why most people hate it on this site.

Cause they suck at it. It's pretty balanced if you don't play stupid.

Tell that to the sniper I killed with duel M1887s at a range only a sniper rifle should be effective. And of course, there's the choppers which I thought were an idiotic idea to start with and shouldn't have even been in the original. I have to admit though, I never had a problem with knifers that everyone else seems to. Also, BC2 is better in every way, at least in terms of multiplayer.

1887s have been nerfed twice for a while to where they are useless, helicopters are easy to kill stinger+cold blooded.

Everything in the game has a counter, its just not everyone uses them. Hence the appearance of lack of balance.

I imagine the stinger would work if I had one, but the game thought it'd be funnier to deny me that until I hit some idiotic level.
