So I own a PS3 and it seems like it is getting shunned by the world of gaming. Everywhere I go there is always a Microsoft fan boy telling me how much the PS3 sucks. Don't get me wrong, I've met some PS3 fan boys and the are not any better, but why is the PS3 the scum of the universe? Maybe it is just demographics, or maybe I just don't know enough people. AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<
Simple; 360 fans don't want to admit they bought the wrong Console.

Hold your tongues, fanboys! There's reason to my claims!

The 360 is a joke. Seriously. Look at everything it lacks, then go wandering round your house. You'll probably find the missing components in common household items. Let us begin;

WIRELESS CONNECTION. Most phones can connect Wirelessly to the Internet without some uber-expensive / fuck ugly attachment. The DS can do it, the PS3 can do it, the PSP can do it, the Wii can do it, any PC / Laptop worth speaking of can do it... the 360 can't.

INTERNET BROWSER. Again, people's phones have Net Browsers on them now. So does the Wii, so does the PS3, so does the PSP, and I've been told the DSi can as well. The 360? It sits there slack-jawed and asks "Doubleyou Tee Eff is teh interweb Bowzer?"

HARD DRIVE. Eighty quid should buy me the 120GB 360 HDD. Forty quid got me a 160GB PS3-compatible HDD. I've seen 250GB drives for fifty, and 500GB ones for eighty. Microsoft are a bunch of thieving bastards.

X-BOX LIVE SUBSCRIPTION. People don't engage the brain, but if they did they'd see it's a ripoff.
360 Elite costs about £200. An 80GB PS3 is about £300. Call it £350 if we upgrade the HDD.
These consoles should last AT LEAST five years before they are ditched for the 8th Gen machines. That means you want at least five years of online play.
PS3 charges you nothing for that.
360 charges you £35 a year.
After five years, your 360 has cost you £375. The PS3 is still at £350, and that includes a non-standard HDD we bought separately. If we assume "out of the box" costs, then after just three years the PS3 becomes the cheaper console.

Oh, and if you don't buy 12-month subscriptions and use 3-month or 1-month allotments instead, it'll cost you even more...

I could go on about how the controllers eat batteries like crazy, or how DVD tech will be obsolete in a few years (making the 360 obsolete), but the point is made; the people who claim "PS3 2 expenziv lol!" are looking at out of the box costs, not real costs. When you buy the PS3, the only thing you'll need to buy are games. When you buy the 360, you'll need games, subscriptions to live, batteries, extra peripherals... and you're still buying a trumped up PS2, not a true 7th Gen machine.
let me start off by calling you a total fanboy, now on to my main argument

I own both the 360 and PS3. You know what I use my PS3 for? A really expensive DVD player. Thats it, nothing eltse, why would I buy CoD for Ps3 when I can get it on 360 witch has a way better interface and a far larger number of online players (and players in general). I've bought every one of the PS3 exclusives and relized I just wasted my moneys :(. The Xbox 360 never dissapoints me, I've gotten red rings 2 times and still love it.

I have an Xbox 360, but i decline this notion of fanboyism so prevalent in this thread. I do not "Hate" (too strong a word when talking about a games console for christ's sake. this is a word that should be kept for people who kill your wife, molest children , talk in the cinema etc.) the PS3. Dislike? No, not even. It's just too damn expensive. There comes a limit to what price im willing to pay for a game console, and the ps3 just surpasses it by far.

That and the DRM rootkit fiasco a year or two back was quite offputting of sony products. Personally i think that the attitude of that company towards it's customer base is nothing short of contemptuous.

I own a PS3 and a Xbox 360. As far as I can say I never paid much attention to people making oh so elaborate pamphlets against what game or what console is the better one. You should play what you want, not what other people what you to like. I may have less games for my PS3 than for my Xbox, but I like them all. When you can say that about your game library, you get somewhat invincible against people/fanboys wasting their time with telling how great their choices are.

Pot called the kettle black.

1) You provide no counter-argument.
2) You have both consoles, and favour the machine that has failed you twice.

That is Fanboyism.

Simply put, they are inferior to modern games in everyway. [...]
And old games do not provide dozens of hours of quality gameplay, but dated and usually either simple or frustratingly bad gameplay.

As for your RTS criticism, I don't think you're living in the present. It was the old C&C's that had the steam roll problem (mammoth tanks all the way)
Actually i just steamrolled the AI with a bunch of mammoths in C&C3 so that problem is still there with the base building RTS games. Perhaps dawn of war has less overall units, but remember that every unit has about 5-10 infantry in them.

Sim City 4 is hardly old, I'm talking sim city 3000 and prior to that.
Well SC4 was released in a time when the PS2 was still the shiznit, and since your first post was about the inferiority of PS2-era games i figured SC4 would be appropriate. Still, that doesn't change the fact that Societies doesn't present any sort of difficulty even to my dog.

"They don't make 'em how they used to". Ask anyone who knows anything about cars and they will tell you that's true, because now they are faster, more reliable and efficient.
Faster, more efficient, definitely. But the build quality isn't there anymore. Maybe that's part of the efficiency aspect, but let me give you an example. Here in Hungary, some of our 20-something years old Ikarus 200 series buses are still running strong, while the M.A.N.s and Volvos that were just acquired a few years ago break down more than i've seen Ikaruses break down in my WHOLE LIFE. They're not built to last anymore, they're just good enough to not go out of service untill the company comes out with the next model.
Putting all that in a gaming context, the graphics and AI are definitely nicer, but the developers only put in just enough effort to keep the players occupied untill the next game in the series comes out.
I bet it's the same with the taxi analogy i presented earlier, i wonder how much more frequently do companies have to replace their Crown Vics than they did with the Marathons.

I will agree that a lot of games nowadays do suck, are dumbed down for joe-average and have a medicore at best storyline
Glad you agree with that, at least.

I'm not saying the PS3 is bad, but by a long-shot I prefer the Xbox 360. And I don't hate Sony or anything, as I loved the PS1 and liked the PS2.
I have to admit though, I like the fact the PS3 has free online and stuff, whereas with the 360 you have to pay to play online and all.

Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
Thank you Hannahdonno for basically proving his point.

People don't like the PS3 because of it's cost (both of the console and to develop for it). Plus the lack of backwards compatibility killed it for a lot of people. I mean c'mon most of us own/ed a PS2 and remember it had amazing games. Fanboys are just blind followers, they feel they have to defend their console of choice.
Also Fallout 3 will not get any expansions on the PS3 because Microsoft paid for exclusive rights on the 360.
As I have just said to another poster, I was attatched to my PS2, but the PS3 made me want to hurl every Sony based product I own out of the window. If you actually take everything into consideration, the 360 is technically better.
From a technological stand point, no.
I will admit it has a majority of better games though. I actually don't see anything wrong with the PS3 other than it's being under supported (opposite of the Wii which is being over supported just not by very many good developers). Well I guess there is some bias in my reasoning since I have a backwards compatible PS3.
I didn't mean techincally actually meaning technically... I'm confusing mysellf now. Yes, the backwards compatibility was an added bonus, but now they are very hard to come by. And yes it may be technically quite good, but it could be argued its TOO good. No one can be bothered making games that use the PS3's true potential and is there any point having a really good console thats just going to gather dust, due to the lack of good, exclusive games?

And they could have made more of an effort to change the pad |:
Yeah it is very difficult to develop for. And I actually like the control pad, it's good for everything just not shooters. I'll admit that the 360 control is one of the best for FPS's.
Yerr, there is hardly any difference in the pad though, it kinda sucks. The PS3 has amazing potential, but there stubborness in reducing prices along with downgrading the console makes it unpopular.
They can't really lower the price without losing even more money. The Wii is probably the only console that can right now and still be making a profit. Everytime Microsoft makes a price cut, I worry and wonder what corner they've cut to cut the price and what error I will see in the news pop up. The PS3 original Sixaxis was more of a step sideways. Sure it lacked rumble, but the motion sensing worked (although no where near as well as the Wii's). With the dualshock 3 it was finally a full upgrade.

I love my PS3. My blu ray videos and sounds are awesome. My virtual memory cards are awesome. My hard drive is like 99% open still, because I haven't gotten around to getting any PS3 games.

They're all bitter that they can't afford one. Maybe they should get off their asses and work instead of gaming all day xD I joke.

The price is too high and the game pool is too small.

I own a 360 and have no issues with the PS3 other than the fact that I don't have one.

Donations are accepted, though!

I hate Blu-Ray, I hate Sony executives, I hate PS3 fanboys, I dont care for PS3. I dont hate the system, just what has come from it. If there were enough enticing games and the console price is not so bad, I would get a PS3, but I asure you it is NOT for a Blu-Ray.

Thank you for showing an example of 2 out of 3 of my reasons. Also I use a standard TV because its fine. People care too much about how nice something looks which is sad. I dont watch DvDs much, Id watch BLu-Rays less, and DvDs are more than fine enough to look at. I dont need to waste moe money for it to look slightly better and sound slightly better. The BLu-Ray is for cocky grahpic whores who dont appreciate a good game for its gameplay where it really matters.
