I don't hate the PS3 as bad as I hate any time it uses the Sixaxis motion controls.
Talk about horrible.

So I own a PS3 and it seems like it is getting shunned by the world of gaming. Everywhere I go there is always a Microsoft fan boy telling me how much the PS3 sucks. Don't get me wrong, I've met some PS3 fan boys and the are not any better, but why is the PS3 the scum of the universe? Maybe it is just demographics, or maybe I just don't know enough people. AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<

Why does everyone hate the PS3?

Because everyone would rather get a reasonably priced console and lot of games instead of a really pricey console and only a few games... Because they don't have deep enough pockets to spend wildly on playing video games. Also people aren't loaners... they listen to their smart friends and buy whatever console they have because then they can LAN and also go to LANs. In most cases the friends will have an Xbox 360 because of they asked a different friend.

PS3 will not get a break until they lower the price even more (which they already have but have made no difference) and get more exclusive games then heads will start to turn.

Well, the PS3 was my first real forray into next-gen console gaming, since I was all PC before. I went halfway with my little brother and got the MGS4 bundle.

All in all, Ive been very satisfied with it for the entire time Ive had it. I like the controller, I dont have a problem with the library (I dont do halo or gears of war, and I got Mass Effect for the PC.) Deadspace, drake's fortune, GTA4, Fallout 3, all good games I was able to enjoy without that Microsoft POS.

Killzone 2 can piss off for all I care. When will people learn that, if you cant come up with a decent setting and characters, there's no shame in bumming some off someone else? (ie: they should have just made a 40K game and have done with it)

I am not a sony fanboy. the years of the PS2 completely passed me by. But now that I find myself being screwed over by the Fallout DLC, and the realization that it will take a long-ass time for Mass Effect 2 to come out for PC, I'm starting to get a little angry.

But, at least I still have MGS 4

how times do change. It seems like only yesterday that the original Xbox was the poor country cousin to the all-mighty power that was the PS2!

I loved my original Xbox, but was always a tad jealous of the multitude of titles available for the PS2, even though technically, the xbox was a far superior machine (in my eyes).

Fast forward to today, and the positions could almost be completely turned around.

The PS2 came out before the xbox and had a much better selection of titles.

The Xbox 360 came out before the xbox 360 and has a much better selection of titles.

I love both the PS3 and 360, but if I had to choose one to have for ever, it would be the 360.

I don't hate the PS3, if I had the money I would buy one. What I hate is all the PS3 fan boys that talk shit. I hate the 360 fan boys just too but as I only have a 360 I hate them less........all the people who rant and rave are just trying to justify their purchase by trying to destroy the one they didn't buy, I did the same thing when xbox and PS2(which I had) where out, but then I grew up

I also don't understand the complaints over price. Sure it's expensive, but it's cheaper than buying an XBox 360, a wireless adaptor, and a Bluray player seperately.quote]

who actually buys the wireless adapter? just get a extralong ethernet cable. I own an elite which cost me £204 and 12 months of xbox live for £35 not long ago. I am very happy with my purchase I did think about getting a ps3 at one point, but then decided i didnt like the games or the price, not to mention the thing looks like futuristic george foreman grill.

I dont hate it. It's a solid console, it's just that i think the 360 is obviously a better choice as the ps3 IMO only boasts 2 good exclusives right now (littlebigplanet, MGS) and its online isnt as good as the 360s. As for wii, nintendo just has a bunch of brainwashed fanboys who will fight for that company to the grave for no apparent reason other than they grew up with nintendo.

Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
I'm sorry, I just had to reply on this.. The 360 is a cheap console IF you don't buy any extra equipment to it at all. If you do, I belive the price will be about the same as the PS3..
I like my PS3 very much and is a regular user of the black monster <3

In Japan this thread would be flipped.

-English speaking developers have decided, for love or money reasons, to back the 360 so it has more exclusives.
-It has been out longer than the PS3.
-The 360 has a strong online setup with a lot of easily accessible options like Netflix and every system is sold with a headset.

I own both, but find I use my 360 to game more online and offline. The only PS3 games I own are Uncharted and Disgaea 3, but it is my first choice to watch a movie on whether it is DVD or BluRay. It automatically up scales 480p DVDs so they look better on my HDTV.

GT2 was great, but now it is crap in comparison to it's sequels. Driver was great, now it handles like a cart full of rocks with awful AI.
I said with the exception of GT and stuff. You're not even listening to what i'm saying. And as i said some (many) people DO STILL ENJOY old games, why won't you acknowledge that not everyone needs DirectX11 UE42 graphics to have fun? And reading a 2-minute plot summary on Wikipedia does not equal dozens of hours of quality gameplay.

So if today's games are so much better, how come Fallout 3 had less endings than the DEMO of Fallout 1? How come you can now win any mission in any RTS game just by building a bunch of strong units**? Why do games have so many training wheels that the challenge is gone now? Whenever a remotely challenging game dares come out, every review puts it down as too difficult(Red Orchestra, STALKER: SoC for example) Did you ever have to sit down and think about how you should proceed, in a modern game? How come there are so few unique ideas in gaming nowadays**? I just played a game from 2001 where you pilot a flying island. How awesome is that? How come Sim City Societies is so mindblowingly dumbed down i had to go back to Sim City 4 after half an hour because playing Societies was just pointless?

It's like cars mate. "They don't make 'em like that no more" Have you seen the bumper on a Checker Marathon? It's massive. And they have quick-swappable quarter panels. Now look at current taxis, they're just good enough to get the job done (in the case of games this job is to entertain the player) Or take guns for example. At one point the .30-06 was the main round of every US armed force, and it could fuck shit up at 800 meters no problem. Now they have the 5.56 that doesn't even go through a thicker piece of concealment at 2-300 meters.
(this latest analogy about firearms is by no means factual or accurate, but it's close enough)

*with the exception of Men of War
**with the exception of Portal.

Why base buying a next gen console on its ability to play last-gen games?? I've never understood it, but frankly it doesn't make any sense. Apart from a few games on the PS2, there are all next gen sequels to them (out or due to be released) on the PS3 with better graphics, gameplay etc.
...
...
I'm speechless. I just don't know what to say here man. And i don't think your second sentence makes much sense either.

Oh oh wait i know!
The PS1 and PS2 have a vast game lineup, and the PS3 still barely has anything. PS2 games cost less than PS3 games. For me, the early PS3s were PS2s that i can use to play some next gen games when some come out. And now SONY took that potential away and all that's left is an expensive blu-ray player with a handful of exclusives and a bunch of JRPGs. I don't give two shits about graphics either, and what's a sequel worth without playing the previous games? Obviously with the exception of GT and such. But why should i pick up MGS 4 if i don't even know WTF happened in the other 3 MGS games? That's what doesn't make sense.
Playing PS1 games nowadays would only be for nostalgia; the gameplay, graphics etc suck. For storyline, save the cash and hit wikipedia or a fansite. Why trudge through dated gameplay and crappy AI just to find something out which a 10 minute read would have enlightend you on?
After replaying Devil May Cry, I realised that good games then are not good games now, and should be left in the past. Playing them now is either a test of patience of laughably bad.
A handful of exclusives? Same amount as 360, maybe a bit less, but better quality. Not to mention every single multiplatform game which is the vast majority of games nowadays. People say it is lacking in games but thats nonsense; it has the majority of 360 games and vice-versa.
Okay this is where i'm leaving this conversation, as it's not going to get anywhere. You apparently don't understand that some people DO like older games. I play games from all the way back in the late '90s, and i enjoy them to death. In fact i enjoy them a lot more than the majority of shallow dumbed down cash-ins that are modern games. I clearly stated that i don't care about shiny graphics, so you shouldn't have brought that up as an argument afterwards. I honestly pity you, for you can not appriciate these old masterpieces like Fallout or Soldiers of Anarchy. You're missing out on a lot of fun mate.
I mentioned graphics once, but mentioned gameplay more. What is there to like about older games? Apart from the storyline, absolutely nothing! If you want just storyline, read a book. What is there to appreciate in games which have terrible graphics and handle even worse? Games are not books and rarely are art. As they are made using technology, they are going to become worse with age. I have a stash of PS1 and PS2 games, and I don't ever play them because I will just realise how times have changed and how they are now crap. There is no fun to be missed out in games which have no challenge due to buggy gameplay and AI. GT2 was great, but now it is crap in comparison to it's sequels. Driver was great, now it handles like a cart full of rocks with awful AI. Morrowind was amazing, but now it's combat system is painfully repetative.
Games get worse teh older they become because technology gets better. Simple.
Come off it , man! Give me the choice of replaying Contra or playing the newest Halo clone and I'll take Contra every time.

As Yatzee puts it, "the PS3 has the top of the range hardware, but because of this all of its games must have top of the range hardware as well so they take longer to release." However, the longer something takes to release the more anticipation there is for it and greater expectations, and a bigger dissapointment when those expectations aren't meet. You want an example of this: Watchmen the movie was hated by the critics, despite being an awesome film.

And in response to DragunovHUN, I agree with you about why are the games getting worse and less challenging, but the reason why they aren't as original anymore is simply because there have been too many games before, and there are very few original ideas to come by so they just decide to forget about it all and make another Star Wars game or another copy of Oblivion or another racing game.
