Why does everyone hate the PS3?

I think there are a few reasons why PS3's are widely disliked althought I think it's just as good (and bad) as any other console out there.

Firstly, the cost, of the three modern consoles out there the PS3 easily costs the most (the console itself is pricey, the games cost a fair bit in comparision and to get the most out of it you'll need a widescreen HD TV and surround sound) meaning that quite a large number of people simply can't afford a PS3 (it's cheaper than maintaining a top of the line gaming PC but still very expensive).

Also, we all know someone who has a 360 while not everyone has a friend who owns a PS3 so ask youself the following: would you rather get a 360 and play online with your buddies? or would you choose a PS3 and play alone or against a bunch of total strangers?

The PS3 also suffers from a comparitive lack of games compared to it's rivals (which means that not only will it seem less diverse and universal in appeal, it also means tha the extra cash you spent on the console and add ons will seem less worth it).

There are also other reasons (I can't be bothered to write a whole thesis here). Despite these though I still think the PS3 is a good console (even though I don't own one) just as the 360 and Wii are good in their own areas.

I prefer the PS3 to the Xbox 360 by far. I think MGS4 has a lot to do with it, and I know 6 peope with 360s that broke.

Its just because there isn't alot of games for it. I think its better than xbox,at least the graphics and the blu-ray.

...so I built myself a PC. Best decision ever...
I think building your own PC is like building your own lightsaber. I takes you to a whole other level. You get so much more for your money this way and it just gets better when you only have to swap out a few bits to stay current. I can understand why people like consoles over OEM PCs, but homebrew PC is it. Consoles have the PC beat on ease of use, but not power.

I have my PC hooked up via DVI and my 360 hooked up via VGA to a Dell 24" Ultra Sharp and it is a blast going back and forth playing the best from both platforms.
curse you! *shakes fist* I should upgrade soon, since everyone who's DIY'd their PC has a better one than me, so it seems. Probably gonna wait for windows 7, and of course after the inevitable "argh it don't work!" of everything before service pack 2 (see XP and vista) before upgrading (been eying up a GTX295, but the 300 series will probably be clear on the horizon by the time win7 becomes usable).

But enough off topic. Yeah, little brother has a Wii. PS2 is used more, but that's probably because he has about 2 games for his Wii.

Don't like the Wii. Then again, never liked nintendo. Was with the PSone back in the day, then the aforementioned PS2, but dropped out for cost reasons.

So, PS3 finally killed my love of Sony (this is from an ex-fanboy who bought a PSP on release day)

Fanboys, don't trust or listen to them. Also, if you want to see real hate against a console then check out the anti-Wii rants.

So I own a PS3 and it seems like it is getting shunned by the world of gaming. Everywhere I go there is always a Microsoft fan boy telling me how much the PS3 sucks. Don't get me wrong, I've met some PS3 fan boys and the are not any better, but why is the PS3 the scum of the universe? Maybe it is just demographics, or maybe I just don't know enough people. AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<
Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
Hello Mr Fanboy!
As I have said before:

MRS FANGIRL if you really want to criticise.

And I used to love my PS2. Love it. Adore it. But the PS3 came along and pissed on everyones parade, making me want to throw every Sony console out of my window. And then for it to rain so they were definately broke. What I said about the Xbox 360 is true... it IS more expensive and it DOES have less of a variety of games. You can basically choose through a stack of shoot em ups and Little Big Planet- which is a very good game I must add.

Because if you want to play a PS3 game, you have to buy-in to the whole Blu-ray thing. Which is lame because Blu-ray and games are two entirely different issues. Larger disks don't equal better games. But they do equal more expensive consoles.

Because Sony pushes their console as the "cheaper" console when you buy every 360 accessory. The truth is that the 360 Arcade is a logically complete console for $200 less than the least expensive PS3. It's logically complete and functional. You can't tell Sony to keep the wireless module or the Blu-ray drive. You have no choice in the matter, relegating the PS3 to gadget whores, not mainstream users.

Because Sony has gotten damned arrogant despite being in last place. They are turning into sore losers who despite running the worst race of the three, want's the same credit as the first place to keep them from throwing a temper tantrum.

I dunno. PICK ONE!

Why base buying a next gen console on its ability to play last-gen games?? I've never understood it, but frankly it doesn't make any sense. Apart from a few games on the PS2, there are all next gen sequels to them (out or due to be released) on the PS3 with better graphics, gameplay etc.
...
...
I'm speechless. I just don't know what to say here man. And i don't think your second sentence makes much sense either.

Oh oh wait i know!
The PS1 and PS2 have a vast game lineup, and the PS3 still barely has anything. PS2 games cost less than PS3 games. For me, the early PS3s were PS2s that i can use to play some next gen games when some come out. And now SONY took that potential away and all that's left is an expensive blu-ray player with a handful of exclusives and a bunch of JRPGs. I don't give two shits about graphics either, and what's a sequel worth without playing the previous games? Obviously with the exception of GT and such. But why should i pick up MGS 4 if i don't even know WTF happened in the other 3 MGS games? That's what doesn't make sense.

I own a PS3 and I can see both it's flaws and it's good points, but I still use it. Granted, it's space-consuming, but it can store music, photos, has internet access etc. as well as play games. While I don't own an xbox, I can still see that it has a better online servive than the PS3, but it's also more likely to crash. The Wii in my opinion is gimicky and can be tiresome if played for too long, but great for parties. While the PS3 has its problems so do all the other consoles, and any other normal person (not a fanboy) will tell you the same.
FLAWLESS VICTORY.

I hate the PS3 because of Metal Gear Solid 4. If that game didn't exist, I would respect the PS3. Maybe even like it.

You mean the rants about how Nintendo is turning the next generation of gamers in waggling lobotomists? How Nintendo is abandoning the hardcore genres for more kiddy junk? How Nintendo is repeating the same errors of the Gamecube generation by elbowing out the third-party? How Nintendo can't seem to see what's wrong with friend codes? How Nintendo broke the golden rule of game control by making controls inconsistently repeatable?

Nope, never heard 'em.

Oh-uh! Another flame thread.

*put on fire-secure suit*

That's better!

Micorsoft realised their console earlier and therfor won many followers (or fanboys if you will) in USA and Europe. This gave us Xbox-360 gamers the RROD in exchange. Not a winning trade.

The ones who were a liitle bit later in to the new gen found the PS3 to be the "newest" and therefor thought it to be the best. Of course what is the "best" will never be the same as we all are diffrent people with diffrent tastes.

I would say that many 360 gamers have gotten the wrong picture of the PS3. Big, overprised and lacking quality titles.

In order:
Nintendo tried something new with motion controls and everyone seems to hate it. Lack of trying new things is what causes stagnation and stagnation leads to the same mindless game repeated infinitly. Sure it may not be perfect, but they tried something new and interesting so lets applaud them doing that rather then creating another generic space marine.
Nintendo is applying to the core audience of "games" and "toys": kids. Shock, shock, Nintendo wants kids to play "games" and "games" are meant for kids. Honestly, if somebody doesn't try to make new gamers out of kids, no one will and then when the current crowd grows up there will be no gamers. Somebody has create kiddy games.
What? Elbowing out third parties? Aren't there more third party games on the Wii then first party games? You're going to have to explain that one to me.
Yes, the friend cods are unnecessary, but, once again, Nintendo is going for a young and casual crowd, so they didn't want to shell out the money for what would be a largely unused Internet system, so friend codes, although a pain-in-the-rear, are a quick solution.
Once again, it wasn't perfect... but it was an experiment into something new, at least they tried.

On topic, see? If someone bashes the PS3 then you can always create an argument to counter. Beware though as this can easily spiral into a flame war.

The thing is, if you buy an Elite for $400, you've got all the accessories you need and a much larger hard drive than the $400 PS3.
The people that use the accessory argument are idiots with no way to justify themselves.
There's plenty of good things about each system, both have pros and cons. The PS3, as everyone has said, is just too much money with too few games.
To all the people that say "when X comes out, you'll see"... Look me up when X comes out and we will see, but if the X you're talking about is Final Fantasy 13, the 360 is getting it too.
Check the videos on youtube of the children and adults acting like children freaking out over FF13 being cross platform, it's the funniest thing I've ever seen. PS3 fanboys.... You're a special breed and add a whole new meaning to the word "immature".

EDIT: Get the fuck off the RROD issue. It has been resolved, long ago. Yes the issue existed, but it was fixed over a year ago with a new revision of the 360.

I like my PS3. I just like my 360 better. I don't know why.
My point is, I love all consoles. They all have something good to offer.
