Personally, I don't like the Uncharted series. Well, I suppose I shouldn't say that because I've only played Uncharted 2, and I didn't even finish it. However, from what I played I didn't feel any desire to beat the game, or to spend my time and money on the other two games of the series. Part of it is that I don't like third person shooters in general, but there's more to it than that. Whenever I played Uncharted 2 I couldn't shake the feeling that I was playing some Hollywood blockbuster movie, not an interactive game. I suppose parts of it were fun, but that feeling ruined the experience for me.

1) people like it cuz they like it, likers gonna like
2) paragraphs son.
3) the games are engaging, easy to pick up, well paced, action packed, etc. deep and intellectual they are not, but i played all 3 and had fun, not the best games i've played, but hell of a ride nonetheless
4) Metal Gear Solid 3 <3 (yes this is my thing of the month again. deal with it.)

I think Uncharted is slightly over-hyped. They are great games but have a very short life span and little replay value. The game gives plenty of incentive to revisit if you're an achievement hog, but for those of us who are not the games are short.

As a series I often hear it as a reason to go out and buy a PS3. I wouldn't go that far...but I would highly recommend the games once they price drop.

Personally, if I were to recommend a game series worthy of getting a PS3, I'd go with inFamous.

So can someone please explain to me why the Uncharted series is apparantly the Jesus Christ of videogames? I would greatly appreciate that.
Because we have our opinions, that we're entitled to. "You're entitled to you're own opinion, but you're opinion is just wrong." Or something of the sort.

Wow, you have a weird veiw on the world... i'd bet you pay attention to conspiricy theories too?

So you're saying that people only buy the Uncharted games to ignore the entertaining stories, the feeling of adventure that you get when playing a game, rather than watching a film, and the brilliant graphics. Yep, they only buy them so that the writer doesn't run out of money, so that one day she can return to writing a series that has a cult following... wow...

To be honest if you beleive that you would beleive anything! Don't get me wrong I can see what you are trying to say, but your arguement just sounds like you have put two facts together, that roughly fit, and now its gospel truth... it reminds me of the Pirates/Global Warming theory... That when there were skull and crossbones pirates there was no global warming, and because we now don't have those type of pirates, but we do have global warming, then somehow those two facts are linked...

OT: The reason people play them is because they enjoy them... people enjoy the stories, they like the progression, they like the environments, and the visual style, and they look forward to having more of it... that's how popular games work...

Also take a few notes from other threads around here, and how some people construct their arguements... A good arguement doesn't just sound like a rant... leave ranting for your posts, but a rant in an OP will instantly lose a lot of credibility strait away, and very few people will bother to agree with you...!

PS3 buy for uncharted is a no, I agree, Infamous is full of win though and Metal Gear Solid 4 is a must have for a PS3 owner in my opinion =]

I'm amazed by the amount of people on this thread saying basically "peeople like it, fuck off hipster troll" because I'm used to getting flamed on here for not being a gigantic PC whore :D

The games have a pretty awesome integration of platforming and combat that is rarely seen. But yeah they are no where near as awesome as people want them to believe.

Well I will admit the series has got some problems especially the third game anyone who says the third game is perfect is just being a fanboy.
I think the series as a whole is a solid experience. From now on though I'm going to watch the first trailer and thats it they give away all the best set pieces in the game

Well, yeah. They're generic characters. But they're strangely compelling generic characters. Some of the best I've seen. It got to the point where I ended up watching the third game being played on YouTube because I was more interested in the relationship between Drake and ... Sugartits?

The best way I can describe it is it's an average game that plays like a much better game. It's a very fun adventure game that screams Indiana Jones.

Oh, and it looks really good. Which adds up a lot more than people give it credit for.

People on the internet these days,if they just knew what opinion was.

he doesn't like a game,so he makes a rant and its his choice. he didn't like it,why force him to do so? I hate posts like this, they attract massive amounts of hate.just because he didn't like it, doesn't mean you should shit all over him. (Sorry for bad English)

Because I think it is amazing?

Yeah, that's it. I think it is amazing, so I call it amazing. Final answer, Regis.

This community seems to have some pretty serious issues with people displaying anything more than lukewarm enthusiasm.

Nathan Drake is one of the most unlikable characters in video game history, that doesn't mean the games are bad though.

Please tell me you don't think they're actually reviews...

On Topic:

Because I find it fun. There are flaws, yes, but I still find it fun. That's all you need to know, OP.
Of couse not. The point is not everyone likes uncharted as the OP implies. I thought it was obvious what I was getting at but obviously not.

Best... Typo... Ever...! This has set me off in hysterics... and my imagination is running wild! I am now completely switched on to a possible revolt of my cuppa in front of me...! :p

On to your point though, as much as I can see your point, the praticality would be diabolical! If people had to pay for good games, but anything that is 'mediocre' is free, then people will end up just stopping buying the good games! I agree that some people will still buy them, but most people, especially people not as into games as we are on here, will chose the cheeper alternative... This will devalue the games industry tenfold!

You could suggest that good games are higher price than mediocre games, but tha already happens, and is happening more and more with new games! Hell, some games don't even appear to devalue as fast as others any more!!

Unfortunately as valid as your point is, it is too impractical for an actual implementation!

I must have misunderstood. Looking at it now, I can see how that's what you were getting at. Sorry, mate.

You got me, I think those games are garbage to. I played half of the first game and only about 5 hours of the second. I wanted to finish them but I just couldn't take it, it was agonizing.

Here is the thing: I LOVE run and gun platformers. The first three Tomb Raiders still are enjoyable to play as far as I am concerned. Uncharted just took the tricky jumps and the shooting mechanics from Tomb Raider and nothing else... Those were the worst parts of the tomb raider series. What made tomb raider enjoyable was exploration and puzzles. I never get any sense of exploration when playing uncharted, and I don't recall a single puzzle. It was just awkwardly gunning things down and running from burning trucks. How utterly boring.

Tomb Raider also had that little thing missing from many games today.. I think people in 'the olden days' used to call it fun. Fighting dinosaurs and trying to stop people form bringing forth the end of the world with ancient magic relics and other enjoyable nonsense. Uncharted was just a smart ass killing foreigners. You could say the series qualifies as 'America porn'.
