Go Germany. I agree 100%.Rajin Cajun said:Germany said it is a cult and gave it the banhammer. I agree with Germany.
What exactly do you mean by banhammer? Can Germany simply ban religions it doesn't like?Rajin Cajun said:Germany said it is a cult and gave it the banhammer. I agree with Germany.
If you read the stories on a literal level, they seem absurd. If you read these stories on a symbolic level, they point to deeper truths. It is possible to draw wisdom from the Bible and other spiritual texts without needing the events to have actually happened. Was there a literal Prodigal Son? Is the point of the story somehow invalidated if he was merely a character that Jesus made up?electric discordian said:So some guy fed an hungry mob with four loaves and four fishes, turned water into wine, survived in a desert for forty days and forty nights without water. Some one was turned into a pillar of salt, a castle was destroyed by the use of jazz sorry obscure reference. To say that this is an accurate not fictional account of events in history is quite odd to say the least.Grand_Poohbah said:"Now one of the main thrusts of the arguement against scientology is that it's created by a fiction writer, this is rather valid as a criticism however most of the Torah, bible etc are fictionalised, none of it is literal truth but a series of instructional tales."
I have a problem with this statement(I also have a problem with the quote function).
This is a very opinionated statement because, while we know the creator of scientology to be a fiction writer, we do not know for sure about the creation of the Torah, Bible, Qu'ran ect. To assume they were fiction writers is both ignorant and not provable.
My wife certainly has had nothing to do with my ribs and nothing bad has happened when she ate an apple, Also I have never at any point seen anyone turn water into wine, perhaps the other way round in shop doorways on a Saturday night.
I use christianity as my example not because i have any particualar with it just that I know the bible better that any other religious book. I didnt go to an Islamic sunday school after all.
Yes every nation has the right to declare a religion a cult. It was supported by German High Courts so it is no longer considered a religion and its leadership is now persona non grata.Nevins said:What exactly do you mean by banhammer? This is way off topic, but so be it. Hell no. That movie was shot in the actual places that the real story took place in historically. I saw a show about it on the History Channel. They even went to the square where all the guys who were trying to kill Hitler got killed and shit. The Germans may just forgive Cruise for everything because of that movie. It is the one shining part of German history from WWII where some Germans did not disagree and run way from Hitler. These guys disagreed and died for it. Those men are heroes.Flap Jack452 said:Wasnt Tom Cruise's movie Valkyrie not allowed to be filmed in Germany because he was a scientologist and the germans are so against scientologists that they boycotted the filming of the movie?
They are not heroes what a load of bollocks they were a bunch of Prussian Elitists who got mad because Hitler hated the Prussian Aristocracy. Fuckin von Stauffenberg was a whiner who suddenly became a fake hero. The dude refused multiple assassination attempts against Hitler because he thought it was foolish. It wasn't till his dumb ass got crippled in North Africa that he became bitter and blamed Hitler for crippling him. The whole damn thing was just a bunch of Elitist Prussians who didn't want to lose another war and look like idiots again just like they did during WWI. Valkyrie made me sick it made heroes of men who cared only about their image and their own egos.axia777 said:This is way off topic, but so be it. Hell no. Your argument is fallacious. Essentially you are saying that for every wrong or distasteful element in Scientology you could find some variant of some religion that did that ergo all religions are just as bad. However that's actually irrelevant since some of these things may be intrinsic to Scientology but not intrinsic to other religions. Sure, that is your perceptive on things. Ask what many German think of them and what they tried to do. But what ever. It matter little.Rajin Cajun said:They are not heroes what a load of bollocks they were a bunch of Prussian Elitists who got mad because Hitler hated the Prussian Aristocracy.
