Ooooooooh, there's another one I hate. Just because I do some weed doesn't mean I have no self respect.
Sorry if I offended you. I agree that what I said was monumentally stupid. Can I re-phrase?

To me it seems that someone who purposely alters their personality and damages their own body in the process isn't thinking straight.

And it strikes me as a lack of self confidence to do drugs or drink alcohol at partys in order to fit in or to be accepted.

I also don't understand people who do drugs because it is fun since they are damaging their own bodys process. You can call me boring if you want but to me no fun is worth bodily harm.

I think that almost all drug users don't have a reason to do drugs. They are simply addicted and are trying to come up with all kinds of weak excuses for why they regurarly and willfully hurt themselves instead of facing the truth and seeking help.

That's my view on the matter. But I would be happy if you could prove me wrong :)

I get enough of legal shit from the VA for being a disabled vet.

Why else do I not do drugs? My mom died of cancer in 1995, before she died my dad cheated on her with a trailer trash heroin addict.

Mom died.

Addict moved in, stole tens of thousands from her work, forged my dads sigs on credit cards build up debt. When she got caught she shot up one last time...turns out the needle she had was old and infected with something.

Thanksgiving of 98, monday she was feel tired. slept all day Tuesday, barely was up through Thursday. Friday went to the doctors, Saturday morning hospital, Saturday night surgery, sunday afternoon DEAD.

The needle gave her a flesh "rotting" bacteria... they opened up her back and had to scrap out the dead tissue. Her body was so swollen they could not sew her back up. She died having her body open from the surgery unable to stitch her up. She was a drug using stick...her corpse was a bloated mockery of what she was a week ago...

I stick to the legal shit after that...

I'd say its a shame for someone to die like that, but she was 12 when he first got the drugs, was in and out of rehab for the next 26 years of her life... and she f'ed every one who cared about her for cash for the drugs. Had a son her grandparents raise (people so old, they thought you got real viruses from computers and talk about the 20's like it was the golden years not shitting)

That boy was fucked up....

Yeah...no matter how good a drug is...I'll stick to the safe shit,

I smoked crank a few times(crystal meth) and do weed ocassionally. I am also an avid cigar smoker.

I guess the reason I DO do drugs is because it helps me relax after a stressful day.

Weed is not in any way healthy. Drawing smoke into one's lungs will cause damage due to the heat and ash particles present. Drugs also throw off the chemical balance within one's body. This is not healthy.
Well, you don't have to smoke it. Also if you fags who like to force pepole to smoke, drink or whatever are reading. Fuck yourselves. People can make their own choices. I don't mean smoking, I meant like different ways. I just don't know what different ways D:

1)Because "everyone's doing it" & I'm not everyone.
2)Because they cost money.
3)Because I'm a tightwad. If I'm going to spend more than $10 on something, it had better last for years or be some sort of tasty meat.
4)I'm already a hypochondriac. I don't need REAL health issues to worry about on top of stuff that MIGHT be wrong with me. ::eek:h noes!::
5)Cuz I don't wanna.
Just want to say, fair enough for your reasons. And not everyone is doing it. I know only about 30 or 40 people out of a whole school who smoke, drink and do other things on a very dangerous basis. But the rest of the people in my school are all cunts anyways and they probably do it as well D:. Wow britian is broken D:

Don't have an answer for that actually. My guess is that, naturally, one day I woke up and didn't feel like smoking anymore.

Here's a flip side: I don't do drugs for no reason whatsoever! I've done them in the past. I don't do them now. They're available to me. The cost isn't the issue. In my career, I have daily access to some pretty strong stuff AND I know exactly what drugs do to a human body (go ahead; pick any drug and I will give you a credible peer reviewed article and a textbook to read on what it does to anatomy, physiology, psychology, sociology...).
I haven't done a drug in two years. Last time was about two years ago. I hadn't done anything for a year before that and I smoked twice on the same weekend and never looked back. I may in the future, but I may not. It just isn't the kind of fun I'm looking for right now.
Look, if you are in the camp "I don't need to get wasted to have a good time," or some other logical fallacy, you're probably just using that as shorthand for "It's not for me!" That, I can respect. I can have a good time and not get wasted. I can have a good time wasted. It depends on the situation.
Black and white thinking limits your viewpoint and makes it more likely you will be wrong (either side of an issue).
"It may surprise you to know but I've tried drugs. Oh yeah. Didn't rob anybody, didn't kill anybody, didn't rape anybody, didn't lose um ..... one fucking job, laughed my ass off ..... and went about my day" -Bill Hicks
BTW, Ritalin is a drug, ya hypocrites. Just because you think it helps you think clearer, which is often the clinical case, doesn't mean you are any better than someone who "needs" weed just to get through their day.

I drink when I'm at parties but not to the point of getting drunk because chances are my parents would notice when I get home and then I'm fucked. I still have fun though.

I think people who abuse drugs are pathetic. They lose control over their life, become stupid and are generally wrecks - and it's their own fault.
One question, would you consider everyone who does illegal drugs to fall into this category, or just users with no self-control?
I think he's thinking more of hardcore drug users than recreational drug users. While it's true recreational drugs can be a gateway to harder stuff it's rarely the case at least in my experience. I don't mind people who smoke weed, I ask them not to do it around me cause the smell is like curtains that have been in an attic for 100 years but it's not a particilarily damaging drug in controlled quantity.

If I found out that a friend used any other drug recreationally, like speed, cocaine, heroin I would not hesitate to slap them upside the head. Even weed in large amounts seem to detract from peoples quality of life. I have a few friends who are heavy weed smokers and in general they seem a lot more listless and do a lot more stupid things. It might just be bringing out an aspect of their personality I hadn't seen before but after seeing the mess drugs has made of people I've known I'd not touch the stuff.

Drug users also seem to find it hard to admit they have a problem, whether they're abusing asprin or heroin and I'd hate to lose perspective like that.

I don't touch drugs cause I don't need to get high to be creative. I just got to think weirdly. Plus, I don't want to age quicker and get cancer, or make a stupid mistake because I got drunk or high.

Plus, Drugs are Bad, Mkay?

I don't do drugs because I'm happy without needing a chemical to influence my body. I don't smoke, drunk (except on rare occasions and even then its just 1 drink) or anything else. I just have no interest and don't see the appeal of damaging my body over a chemical.

I like being in control of my mind. It gives me a sense of power. Being in control when everyone else around you isn't. Also, I'm poor.

I hate the argument that people take drugs to escape reality. Maybe on lots of acid, but pot, ecstasy, MDMA, small amounts of acid, they all enhance reality, not alter it. This is something I learned when I started taking drugs, generally they make good things great and bad things terrible. Of course, can't say the same thing for stuff like cocaine and the opiates as i've never experienced them.

Of course the amount of bias against drugs in positions of power in the UK and the US is ridiculous. I should make the choice, not them.

Well, I have seen how drug users can really hurt others, without knowing it, and if you buy them off the street, who knows what kind of shit the dealer may include. Also, no money, (well, not much) and I'm not that healthy as it is. But yeah, the only drugs I ever took were perscribed, or a bit of alchohol. Never even smoked a cigarette. I don't even know where to find drugs.

Pretty interesting thread. Seems from what i've read that alot of people think of drugs as bad and thats the end of it, and i guess that they can be, but the way that I see it is that everything in moderation is alright. If you have too much of anything it can be bad for you =].

OT: I have tried quite a few of them, normally just weed and alcohol, but i sometimes try interesting(scary as hell) ones, if you've ever heard of woodrose or had a salvia hallucination you'll know what i mean lol.
