The anime, the card-game and the fact that there has not been an original Pokemon game in 10 years. Each new pokemon game is a carbon copy of the previous ones.

It's a cash cow, plain and simple, that has not adapted or improved in what is equal to forever in gaming industry.

I agree about the anime, after Team Rocket became comic relief instead of the bad guys it really sucked.

Becuase it's a childish, old game boy/cartoon fad that tends to draw in the most pathetic people that walk this planet?
Just because some of the people who like it are sad doesn't necessarily mean that it sucks.

And, yeah, it's partly because of the anime, partly because people don't think anything that was good when they were young can still be good, and partly because today's youth are too damn hip to think that anything popular can actually be good. Quit trying to be so indie and give something new a try.
If you think it's just the YOUTH that think that popular=bad you can't have ever visited 4chan.
Thankfully, no, I've never been to 4chan. I stay well away from that wretched hive of scum and villainy.

The show is terrible but the games are terrific and there aren't many games like them (To my knowledge) it's practically a whole different genre than regular RPGs, I've never gotten sick of them. The only thing I could say is that they try stupid gimmicks (Looking at you poke'blocks) that are just unecessary and they should just focus on the main aspects of the game. I'm okay with the kiddiness of it it doesn't bother me too much, I don't think poke'mon would work with serious characters and plot.

Colosseum turned out ok.

My take on the disliking is the repetition, there's only so many times you can "Catch 'em all!" and beat all the gyms, defeat the elite four, the battle tower or any other system which is basically "You beat me, another, stronger guy takes my place until we run out of guys."

It's a formula that's remained entirely unchanged, even with the addition of doubles battles, which is still just as repetative.

Don't get me wrong, I like Pokémon, as a concept and the original games were some of the greatest, although I don't overlook actual gameplay progression, but seriously, how many versions of the same game can they possibly put in front of us before we start to realise it?

I mean hell, they're even releasing re-makes of better, older ones. Which is worth getting for the sake of graphic improvement upon a classier game.

As for searing hatred, that shit is just not understandable in the least.

You mean except for the part where every knew gen brings new and more polished game mechanics? Yep, doesn't improve.
That is not improvement between games, that is called patching and/or modding. When has the story changed? When has the start of the game changed? When has the enemy changed in any other way but name? Have the fundamentals of pokemon levelling changed? How about fighting? Have the attacks changed in anything but the name? How about game objective?

As far as I'm aware, the answer to all is 'No.'

It's because we played Pokemon as kids, so most people feel that they are more mature than it.

In truth, quite a few people still like it. They aren't just willing to admit it.

I wasn't aware that Pokemon was frowned upon at all! Having grown up with it, I still love the First Generation of games. The only thing bad about it was the anime.

I like it so screw the ones who hate it.
Well now that's a little unfair to bash someone for not liking what you like. You know what I'll be honest with you, I liked it, it went old, I stopped liking it, and now they finnaly realized that the old games were the best. And as for you, if you don't like someone else's opinion, either deal with it, make a good argument against that opinion, or leave.
