Because I'm doing so over games that I've actually heard about, and consequently care for, like Bayonetta and Mass Effect 2.

That reminds me, I gotta do laundry. Pardon me.

I got given a 3 day guest pass to play the full game. Its really just a tech demo, sure its very nice looking and fighting in 3 dimensions adds something new. But thats all there is, no real substance. Fighting in 3D actually becomes more a pain in the the arse then anything.

So I would say don't hype it up too much as you'll be left underwhelmed once you do play it. Sad thing is though during my 3 days playing it there were only like 2 or 3 populated servers.

EDIT: Also don't bother talking about games like this here. Most of the forum are only aware of games that have months long hype marketing all over the place.

It's from Futuremark, and I only have a 320MB GeForce 8800 GTS. I mean, what's the point of buying a game from a set of benchmark experts when I have a sub-par, increasingly old GPU?
While that is true I'll add that it runs well enough on my 9800 GTX+. By well I mean around 45 FPS with mostly medium graphics.

As for the game itself: It's awesome. It's hands down the most fun I've had since TF2 (which I still play) when it comes to multiplayer. While the player base is small at the moment it's enough to get a good game going at any time.

The zero G environment may seem gimmicky to some but I'll argue that it brings a completely different aspect to the game. For the first 5 hours I had problems adjusting and kept thinking in a limited 2d plane as in all other games. It took a while to understand that I had more attack vectors at my disposal. Once you get that, it a blast. Everywhere is a threat. The enemy can shoot me in the feet for crying out loud. And floating through space in silent running, the only sound my own breathing and my heart beat, looking at Earth is a great thing, and is a sweet setting for killing people.
As we speak FM are beta testing some DLC and dedicated servers are free so the game gets plenty of support.

So I'll highly recommend this game if you feel like a more fun and innovative experience than all the bog standard shooters that gets released these days. In a way the game reminded me why PC gaming is awesome after the whole MW2 fiasco soured me quite a bit. And at 20$ it's a steal.

I love the fuck out of this game. I want to futuremark to have my babies.. Seriously, this game is GOOD.

Pity the servers are mostly empty now. Such a shame. Could have been the next CounterStrike

My one question is, "Can I play and beat the game without a team?" If the answer's no, not interested.

Wow, never heard of it, but it does look fun. Good thing I have started on making a new computer, this looks like it would be pretty fun.

seriously, why is this game so under the radar?
Read your own post, you answered your own question.

It's a PC exclusive, steam-only, multiplayer-only FPS with almost zero marketing exposure in a market already oversaturated with higher-profile releases. Who exactly is supposed to be "jizzing" themselves over this game?

Take the general gamer population. Now remove the console gamers. Now remove all the people who actually want to play single player (you lose me here). Now remove all the people who don't like STEAM and digital distribution in general (again, you lose me here). Now remove all the people who don't like FPS games that much (you lose me here as well). Now remove all the people who aren't already hung up on 2-3 other multiplayer FPS games. You will end up with a very small group of people.

Now convince that group of people to buy this game instead of COD:MW2, L4D2, Borderlands, etc.

Premise of the game: Space exploration has picked up the pace. We're still stuck to our little rock but the energy crisis that we face was solved by going to the moon and mining... what was it. Hydrogen-3 I think. During mining there was an accident. Of the nuclear kind. Basically someone set off a big one deep in the moon, causing BIG parts of it to blast out into space and settle around Earth. No one knows if it's an accident or deliberate, all we DO know that there are two practically identical Organizations (a little wiki search, we have the ISA or International Space Agency, clever. And the other is MMC Moon Mining Cooperative) who dealt with mining and regulation of resources, and that because of the moon debris has settled around the Earth, they can't go back. That also means that supplies can't come UP, and so, these two organizations fight it out over the precious little resources there are to live long enough for someone get a bright idea how to get our little miners back home. Of course there's a story to hoe they GOT guns up there, ISA was tasked with finding the people responsible for this catastrophe, and the MMC are scared out of their wits of being killed or left for dead as punishment.
So they duke it our for the little there is worth keeping in the hopes to get back on the ground one day... in one piece at least.

Game itself: Since funds are as they are... I'll be keeping an eye on it. It looks fun, sure, any game can be fun if the circumstances are right, but in the end, a bit gimmicky, but so was the first FPS to put in a quick-use Com-Rose (for example BF2).
What throws me off about it, is that it is D2D only. And since I stopped using credit cards because they complicate the living hell out of everything, I'll be waiting for someone to get the bright idea and release it in a box.

It doesn't look overly great (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it looked bad, just that it didn't look particularly special) and I haven't heard of it until now.

Just because you're excited about a game doesn't mean everyone else will share your excitement, for example, I was really looking foward to Turok (360) when it came out and I personally don't get what all the anticipation over Half Life 2: Episode 3 is about.

I would be excited for this game, except for the Vista requirement. The gunplay looks like some kind of mash between Battlefield and Unreal Tournament, and the zero gravity looks really cool, and most people who have played it have said good things about it. But if it isn't coming out on XP any time soon, no real reason to get excited for it.

At least the people who bought Vista now have one reason to be glad they didn't stick with XP :p
