I love the world cup, it means 4 weeks of football everyday, sure they'll be some crap games i.e france Vs. U-r-gay but on the whole most games are good, plus there's the excitement of promising young stars emerging.

sadly my team scotland have failed to qualify for the 3rd consecutive time so we have to put up with a massive amount of media aimed at english fans on tv and radio in the build up to the world cup. So with a healthy resentment aquired i will be supporting usa, algeria and slovenia during the group stages.

with england safely out in the group satges i can move on to enjoy the rest of the tournament with no more half-time trips to the england camp

You should come to Ireland for the month, we don't have to hear any of that shite about the English team!

I don't really care who wins. I'm Canadian, so obviously we suck and we don't care. I'll watch the final game and that's it.

I couldn't care less because Canada isn't involved, and neither is Scotland. But I hope England or South Africa wins. If not, France, South Korea, or Japan.

"ALL HAIL BRITANNIA!"

GO ENGLAND!

Who's psyched?

I love the World Cup, have since I was a little fella watching Gascoine, Schillichi, Maradona and Cascarino...

I'm hoping for a win from Spain or Holland, I enjoy both those teams. I also hope France get knocked out early and Thierri Henri gets booed off the pitch (apologies French Escapists... Irish man here, I still love your country)

So who are the Escapists rooting for?

Who do you want to win? Who do you want to make an early exit?

Will the South African team do well? And will thier fans ever stop blowing those feckin' horns?
Thank you for your noble support of holland!!!
We will certainly win the world cup and the Netherlands will go insane with a nation wide party.

But the world and european cup are the only moments i watch sports on tv and i love it. Dressing up in team colors and watching the game with the whole street.

If you dont laugh, you'll cry.

The commentators said his save off the post was good, but it just looked pretty damn lucky to me. But then I dont know as much about football as them.

Still, a bit anti-climatic. Stevey-G said after the game "well the idea was to win this match really" ... yeah no shit Steve.

Unlucky from England tonight, they played very well and the Americans can count themselves very lucky that they had Green on hand (ho ho) to help them out. I feel for him, it was a bad mistake at the worst time possible, but he's still a decent keeper.

If only we hadn't been playing Heskey... yeah, he set up the goal and created a few chances, but how many chances did he ruin by straying pointlessly offiside constantly? And as for his shooting, ugh.

Robert Green; it's dipshits like him that justify the death penalty.

Still cudos to the US team for averting the impending defeat, but their performance has reinforced my belief that they won't make it far in the tournament (if they progress at all).

And England all the way.

Green tends to make those kind of saves. I'm annoyed by Green's mistake (although a little glad, as it means less teams may be interested in buying him off my team now) but I reckon the USA would have scored anyway. We weren't great after we scored imo until the second half when we improved for a period of time.

I kind of blame Capello for his mindset though. By leaving the No 1 decision so late, he hasn't allowed the keeper to feel secure and he was instead constantly under pressure from the other three keepers. Add that sustained pressure of the last few months to the pressure of a world cup finals... Also...I blame the ball too. And the surface. Sorry, I like Rob Green. Seriously, I do hope he doesn't get dropped for the next game though as James is just as capable of making a mistake and isn't as agile as Green anymore.

I don't get what was happened with Capello though. Started out saying that only fit and in form players would get into the team, but now King and Milner start and need replacing, leaving us with only one sub available to try and change the game with. And why oh why did SWP come on, or even make the squad? I thought Cole had done enough to start, and Johnson had been in good enough form to get in the 23.

Regardless, we'll go out as we left out Scott Parker. Or, more accurately, a combative central midfielder. Preferably Hargreaves, but noooooo, medical science isn't advanced enough yet.

I do like the world cup, watching the SA/Mexico game right now, all I know is that after 20 minutes of it, those bloody horns are really starting to piss me off, its just constant, dont South Africans breathe in?
Wait, that noise is the plastic horns? I thought it was a fucking foghorn for god's sake!

Hoping for an English victory, of course if we're stuck with Green I don't know about it..

Holy shit England. We dominated the second half....just awful at finishing though. And fucking Heskey needs to look up the offside rule again.

Americans definitely deserved a goal in the first half, but fucking hell Green that was the worst possible way to concede.

Awful fucking game, in fairness. I'm Irish and even I was cringing on the goalie's behalf willing the poor lad to make a few saves after that disaster.
