I find myself watching both bleach and naruto rather in spite of myself, I mean I know bleach had the first 10 or so episodes actually being genuinally funny, but why am I still watching like a hundred episodes after the funny stopped and the generic shounen started...

Yeah, I found Bleach pretty entertaining until it came to the arcs it's on now, the Bounts or something. I mean there are sometimes just some characters that are so bad (evil bad not the other kind) that you just want them gone. Some, no rather nearly all of them are pretty iritating in the way that even if you seriously injure them, they bounce back.

You know, I never thought about people only seeing the anime, and not understanding that the filler arcs were just that.

I do also like the characters a lot, but when you get further into the manga, you find that he doesn't do enough with the characters, mainly because he has too many of them. I guess as we progress further, we may see them do a bit more.

And yes, an episode is supposed to be about 2-3 chapters from the manga.

DBZ however, attempted to solve the same issue we are talking about, but rather than stop altogether, it stretched each episode beyond all belief, which I could care less about at the time, I was just thinking 'ZOMG AWESOME HE'S SUPER STRONG WHAT'RE THEY GONNA DO NEXT??'.

And all of those anime you listed were superb, The castle of cagliostro being my favourite Lupin the 3rd.

Well, for me, DBZ was alright when I was still in the 4th grade, but now that I look back, it seems as though that show just kept going and going without end. Back then, it was something entertaining to look forward to after school, but I bet if you look at it now, I bet you could slim the entire show down to about 100 episodes flat instead of the seemingly over 500 that it is.

Anime's a form of entertainment, same as just about anything else, including whatever you enjoy. It's just something that a lot of people enjoy.

yeah, it wasn't really those game-based shows that drug me in, but I enjoyed the monsters and whatnot that the show was based on. Back when I watched them, I really enjoyed drawing things similar to the creatures or whatever that those shows exhibited. Some were really inmaginative and had completely new concepts to me.

Oh certainly. You know Akira Toriyama never even wanted Dragon Ball to go into Z? He wanted to end it at Ball, but it is said his wife pressured him into doing more, because it was making so much money (I'll leave the opinion of her to you).

Also I think he was originally going to end it at the Frieza saga originally, but kept going, then he was going to make Gohan the main character after the Cell saga, but thought he wasn't suitable for the part (that part is cold hard truth, for sure). But yes, the anime team definitely could have condensed it into less episodes than it was, and I personally think it should have ended at the Cell saga.

Another thing that peeves me about anime-haters is that they say the storylines are unoriginal, but when you think about it, is really anything totally original. I mean, all of the original works ended several hundred years ago, some animes are bringing back old concepts and giving them twists from other sources. If that isn't original, then nothing really is.
And I doubt that if someone made something totally original, how did Yahtzee put it? A Taiwanese chef riding a giant stick bug with a shotgun that shots velocoraptors. That's pretty original but do you think anyone could actually watch it for too long before finding it a little boring?

I'm sad to say I actually bought a copy (used, thank god) of Dragon Half... It almost scarred me for life. Basically, the entire two episodes that slipped out of Hades' cornhole were a string of stupid, pointless jokes, cheesiness waaaaay up the wazoo, and poorly-proportionate tits. Its only entertainment was in how poorly it was put together, along with squeaky-high voices on almost all characters (or bravado-stupid for a select few male ones).

Sadly, I have to admit that the ending theme song was actually a redeeming feature, even though it's about the most random, retarded thing I've known x-o A song about eggs sung to the theme of Beethoven's 5th Symphony, I believe. The anime was actually so universally bad that those two episodes were the only ones that ever escaped. Thank God for that.

My second most hated would have to be DBZ. Seriously... from the episodes I caught when it was still running at regular hours on Cartoon Network (many, many years ago), half the fight sequences were these glowing monkey-men or w/e floating in midair, screaming at the top of their lungs for no other apparent reason than to scare the tits off the other person, and then the battles were over in about five seconds after that. Or they dragged on, and on, and fucking on... ye gods!

If you want a fight, it has to either be over quickly with as few awkward moments as possible, or if its going to drag out for longer than the end of an episode, put some nice sequences in with near-misses, bodies flying, or whatnot. But for the love of God and all that is holy, standing around and talking your opponent's head off is NOT a good method of battle. More likely to get you killed than anything else...

Also, the Xenosaga anime that came out weren't that great. Its just not the same watching it as it is playing the real game ._. idk, but that's just me...

Finally, the last episode of Gunslinger Girls just left a sour taste in my mouth, like one of those games that acts like it'll have a sequel and never gets one (although if my research is correct, they seem to have done one >.>) And usually, anime handled by AGV are fairly well done, but not this time... Very poor, AGV, very poor indeed.

On the flipside, some of my favorites include Noir, Elfen Lied, and Submarine No. 6 (<333 Mutio).

Well...it was a parody...sort of. And funded apparently by the Yakusa (Japanese mafia) no less.

Speaking of which, any anime with regenerating people (and I mean fastly regenerating, not get them regenerate that missing toe tommorow, and not they fastly regenerate from attacks made out of X or Z, I mean they're either almost or completely invincible) deserves to be mentioned here.

I gotta go with the extremely overrated Naruto.

It feels like a whole bunch of badly developed characters not acting like ninjas. The action is crappy the story is crappy and the animation is OK at best.

Edit: By the way count the "best" version of the anime you select. Crappy Dub Job does not constitute an anime being bad.
I really never saw the big thing with Naruto tbh.

I personally enjoyed Naruto, at times it was humorous, others it was actiony, I enjoyed the characters because each of them are different from one another making them easy to remember. But I think what makes people hate it a lot is because there are a lot of filler arcs. But if they did not have the fillers, then we'd probably be waiting several years in order to get enough story from the mangas in order to make a single episode. At least it's kind of better than DBZ, at least the characters did not spend 3 to 4 episodes gathering enough energy to blow in 15 minutes. I also enjoyed Lucky Star, its a slow-paced easy to understand show that's a bit more down to earth than most others. I can't really say which anime out there I hate the most is, but I do remember seeing something in one of those anime weekly magazines about [ 4 guys that look so much like girls it made me queasy. If you know the name of whatever it is, give a shout.
Among other animes I enjoyed, there would be Lupin the 3rd, Samurai Champloo, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Desert Punk, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Trigun, and Ghost in the Shell.
That would be Saiyuki. Kinda sad, cause it had potential (I felt sad at Hakkai's back story: wife got abducted by demons, got raped then slashed her own neck in front of him WHILE HE WAS TRYING TO RESCUE HER. He finally mustered up enough courage to raid the HQ all alone and that was what he got). Too bad it turned out to be just another bishounen type to appeal to all the yaoi fangirls.
The manga is a hell of a lot better than the anime. Just letting you know

Luckily having not seen the Tekken movie I need not list it.

But then, I've seen something else that almost makes up (down?) for that:

Ninja Ressurection

Orginally marketed as the sequel to Ninja Scroll but actually has nothing to do with it. Besides this bit of miss-marketing it is also bad. Really, really bad. For your own sake avoid this thing, there's not even any sarcastic laughs to be had here.

No wasted episodes? Seriously? The first series has a beach ep, a shopping ep, a christmas ep, a hotsprings ep. They're all filler, story goes nowhere, characters don't change, status quo is retained. It's been a while since I saw it and I only saw the first season but I particularly remember being annoyed at its slow pace.

I definately agree this series gets too much flak. What it is is mediocre, probably a bit better. Frankly its the people telling others that the series is 'godly' that makes others mark it down. Same goes for Evangelion. I think it also gets a lot of criticism for what the series represents; Gonzo's breakthrough. Its the series that opened the floodgates to the mountain of dung that studio has produced.
...Hotsprings ep? When? I don't remember that...nor do I remember a beach ep...or a Christmas ep. There may been episodes taking place around the time of Christmas, but that's about it. Shopping ep...well, I remember in one episode they went shopping for towels...but only for a brief time near the beginning of the episode. FMA has no filler! Each episode does something to characterize or significantly advance the plot. There's some comedy relief, but nothing I'd call 'filler'.
There was that episode where Ed and Al take Winry shopping, but that constitutes about maybe 3 minutes of the whole episode, the rest of which is really good

Beach episode? unless you're counting the one where Izumi leaves Ed and Al on that deserted island, which certainly isn't filler, then no

Wait a sec... hotsprings episode? Beach episode? Story that goes no where? Gonzo?

This may be a stretch, but I think you may be confusing FMA (Full Metal Alchemist) with FMP (Full Metal Panic). And you are also confusing the first season, with Fumoffu (a spin off season not made by Gonzo).
