If anyone mentions Hellsing or Elfen Lied
Haven't read any other post, but i saw this thread and this post in particular and i felt tempted.

Sorry to break your bubble. Yes, hellsing is awesome, but Elfen lied isn't.

When i first watched it, i was told it was one of the best anime out there. The word i heard most was "Deep".

So it starts with a song sung in latin. Wow. Amazingly deep. In the meanwhile, you get lots of shots at one of the anime's other strong points: their constant need to show Lucy naked. You can almost hear the producers yelling "THIS IS AN ADULT ANIME. THIS IS DEEP. LISTEN TO THE LATIN MUSIC! SEE THE PERFECTLY DRAWN CLEAVAGE THAT YOU WON'T SEE IN ANY OTHER OF THOSE KIDDY ANIME FOR KIDS!"

I saw the anime a while ago, so the episodes aren't quite fresh in my mind. But the first episode was enough to make my mind:

So there's this chick with red hair and convenient cat-ear-shaped horns. She's walking around with nothing but a helmet. She goes around killing everything in sight in - i confess - pretty creative ways (pen to the face at some point, i think). Then this emo dude shows up and surprise! she'll kill everyone but him! I guess she's trying to say emos aren't worth killing, i guess. Then she takes a sniper bullet to the face and goes amnesiac.

Change of scenario, same old clichés. Two cousins talking about the past. Male cousin with a tragic past: his entire familly got killed and he doesn't know who did it. Female cousin clearly with the hots for male cousin. Hmm, incest! Another sensitive, mature theme that only mature people may talk about in their mature lives filled with mature anime.

So they go to the beach, more melancholy emo stuff about a childhood filled with the joy of innocence, with (probably) some violin playing in the background. Suddenly they see the genocidal psycho walking around. They decide to take her to their house for some reason instead of taking her to the police. What once was a killing machine is now a wide-eyed virgin that can only say nyu. Her "innocence" serves as another plot device for inumerous misunderstandings related to her being naked! haha! I've never seen that done before! Noting the latin theme song, the emo setting and all that, it's clear they've met in the distant past. This anime tried so hard to be a modern greco-latin tragedy that none of the spoilers surprised me. That bit about the clock in the final episode is unintencionally hilarious.

Rest of the anime has some good fights between more naked cat-eared pink-haired women (well... underage girls with a trace of cleavage), more drama, more jokes about a willing (if you know what i mean), naked nyu. Then the bad guys show up, she decides to trip on something and fall headfirst, transform into the crazy psycho form and kill everything except the emo kid and some other people.

Entertaining to an extent, but not as good as people paint it. Not exceptional, but not unbelievably bad. Watchable.

But if you're looking for something bad, look no further than... uhh i dunno. It's all a matter of taste, really. But i do wonder how can naruto and bleach be so insanely popular if everyone on the internet + their filosophy book think it's overrated and unwatchable.

Note: I'm not a naruto fantard. Just stating the obvious

spoiler alert
The deep part comes from the whole thing between the Humans and the Diclonii (those with the horns and vectors). Basically it is stating that humans can be right bastards, and that it's possible that the whole reason that theDiclonii are so damn genocidal is because of their treatment by humans as a wholw. And the whole incest thing, not even going to touch that one. The fanservice is a bot much, but it leads to some funny scenes that keep the series from being completley depressing.

I thought that Bleach was a very good and somewhat original show
Can you please explain to me how you thought that watered down cross between DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho was original?
I said I thought it was somewhat original, not entirely. I thought the story was great, once it got into Soul Society all of the twists in the story were amazing, especially the payoff at the end of that arc which I did not see coming at all. I thought the weapons were a pretty interesting idea, swords with personalities that have different abilities that can also change the environment around them(I would have liked to see more detail into that idea in the show though). The fights are what I loved the most about the show. It wasn't dragged on endlessly, and they were very intense and would be over within 2-3 episodes at most, and the animation was beautiful.(Even though the animation has nothing to do with originality.)

However, that's only my opinion, from my own personal experience. If I'm wrong then I'm fine with admitting that. It was just something different than I had been exposed to in the genre at the time I first saw it. I will admit that I never even watched Yu Yu Hakusho so I can't say anything about any similarities Bleach has with it. However, I will not deny the similarities with DBZ though, once everyone spontaneously gained the ability to fly with no explanation the show started going downhill.

Dragonball wasn't an entirely original idea either now that I think about it. It was based off of an old Chinese story called "Journey to the West".

I gotta go with the extremely overrated Naruto.

It feels like a whole bunch of badly developed characters not acting like ninjas. The action is crappy the story is crappy and the animation is OK at best.

Edit: By the way count the "best" version of the anime you select. Crappy Dub Job does not constitute an anime being bad.
i hate Naruto. And just to add in, my favorite, and in fact only one is Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
May I ask why you hate Naruto, and not DBZ? Yeah, I'm calling people out now.
Naurto is dumb. No 12 year olds are that incredibly awesome at martial arts or anything else or that matter. And DBZ while I can see how it could turn people off, I did enjoy the combat scenes and the story. But some of the power ups can be drawn out and pointless.

Wait wait wait, so Naruto is dumb because you applied real life logic to a fictional animated show? (which, by the way, isn't true at all about 12 year olds) What stops me from saying that DBZ is dumb because no one can fly, and yet they are doing so in the show?

I'm just glad to know that others find Naruto to be utterly pathetic. It's still not the worst, wanna know whats even WORSE. Steel Angel Kurumi. The premise was fine, it was just poorly, poorly executed with the most annoying characters and stupidest progression imaginable.

to be brutally honest, all modern/new anime is all bullshit.
there was a period in the late 80's/ 90's/ early 200's when anime was good. now it's all aimed at kids. there's not plot and the action is toned down

I read somewhere that dragonball with goku as the lead character was supposed to end with the frieza saga. Gohan would take his place as the protagonist and try to become a super sayan as well, but the editors weren't keen on that idea (and i can't blame them since gohan was a whiny *****. Replace him by kid goku in any of the arcs and it'd be awesome. Goku, picollo, yamcha, tien and chiaotzu wouldn't have to die thanks to that idiot gohan crying all the time)

Though i can't say the fighting scenes are good, at least compared with today's standards. i remember watching the fight between frieza's special forces commander (that guy that could change form) vs gohan and krillin and noticing the same moves getting repeated (a bunch of combos and a dropkick from gohan, iirc). Dragonball runs on nostalgia, at least for me. If i was a kid today and had to choose between naruto and dragonball, i think i'd choose naruto, as it's a lot easier on the eye :\

Ninjas from Naruto are about as much ninjas as vampires in twilight are vampires.
A ninja hides in the shadows and goes for a quick, silent and deadly attack. That means not getting emotional, break down crying or having flashbacks about your (ninja)highschool crush when you're being chased around by a man with a 5-foot sword.

Burst Angel's another, despite being nicely drawn it does still make you wonder 'is there such a thing as too much sexual suggestion in anime?' If yes then BA is is a prime example.
I believe this show also had a 10 year old with giant tits who wore very little clothes and always seemed to have a camera aimed at her crotch. Or maybe that was another show, all I remember is that it was something with teenage girls and giant robots. Then again there are about ten thousand other shows like that.

And all the card-game / summonable monster ones.
Although I agree with you on about 99% of those shows, one did stick out. Duel Masters I think. Besides just being the same old show about skinny kids with strange hairdos playing card games with as much respect as though they were martial arts, it did have an odd sense of humor. One time some guy with long black hair (whose name eludes me) says "I am the shadow, I am the night, I am bat- err I mean the dark card master".

Why all the hate on Naruto?

I can understand people saying it's overrated, but worst ever? It's just too average to be bad.

Apparently you people have never seen low budget hentai.
0_o ...No. No, we haven't. And I'm fairly sure... uh, hope most of us would rather not...

Probably Vampire D for me because my friends hyped it up so much. It was just bad, dialogue was just boring and I didn't see that cool animation I was hoping that would make up for it!

plenty of bad anime out there and some of the ones people are calling bad I like ... like Naruto, don't ask me why mind, it just appeals to me even though it is pretty bad - kinda like elevator music in anime form! Worst one I have seen got to be Uroksukidoji, legend of the overfiend - couldn't stand it!

I loved Duel Masters. From what I've heard, the humor is all in the dubbing, the original is just a bland card game anime. 3 cheers for good dubbing!

Ah Overfiend...sure, it may be a hideous piece of tentacle porn, but you can thank it for being one of the first few animes to gain worldwide recognition (or notoriety) for anime in general.

I haven't seen Elfen Lied (which is a funny name if you speak german by the way) and I never will but when I see this post I have to ask how is that deep? That's not deep in any way. We had and still have real life situations were something like that happens (maybe not exactly) and I don't even consider that deep.

I liked the first season of Naruto(till the extremely long! bridge battle) they were actually trying to be real ninjas-even with the whole shadow copies and crap- but boy...when giant snakes/toads/slugs started to appear and the creators making the show more about Sasuke then the actual character...it went a bit to far...it was like seeing a downgraded version of DBZ but without the fun random characters, blowing planets powers and Goku & Piccolo learning to drive...:(

My choise goes for Ghost in the Machine(think thats the name), its not bad...I just couldnt get it.

It's ghost in the shell.
naruto's graphics are pretty lame too much fillers they are fucking up the story badly although the manga wasn't so bad.
Also bleach is a big loop (also suffering from severe filler syndrome) It goes like this
Ichigo fights a strong guy->Ichigo get's his ass kicked->Ichigo trains for like 12 minutes(although for the real reapers it takes like five gazilion years)->Ichigo goes and fight again-> And AGAIN get's his ass kicked untill inoue(kuchiki or some other random chick)
yells something like ichigo u r deh best plz d0n't Die bby ichigo stops the (otherwise lethal) attack with one hand and BOOM he wins teh battle YAY!!!
what a load of shit :S

That was basically an excuse for hentai, so it doesn't count.
