Ok I apologise and I realise that my views are subjective and you must really like the name, I'm sure it means a great deal to you.King of the Sandbox said:Oh, look, someone else who hasn't read the thread. /facepalmtunderball said:It seems like a pretty bad idea to be honest. Everyones already mentioned the unlimited potential for bullying this possesses already so heres another view. You'll be naming your kid after something YOU enjoy, your kid will have to run a shit storm of abuse just so you can snigger to your self every so often and reminisce over that one time you killed a super mutant.
I apologise if this come over as incredibly blunt but its an incredibly silly name! Why not name him/her after one of the characters (one with a real name) then you get the refrence but your kid doesn't have to carry that burden for the rest of his life, I mean seriously what if he's born with blonde hair and a huge head.
For example I like the Beatles so 'John' or 'Paul' would be a potential name if I had a kid however I would never call him 'Eleanor Rigby McLastname' or 'Strawberry Fields McLastname' and I most certainly wouldn't call him 'Yellow Submarine McLastname'.
To be frank, no its a terrible idea and I hope your wife slaps some sense into you for suggesting it.
1. Kids make fun of anything. Names, faces, whims, that tree over there. Names get no special treatment, normal or abnormal.
2. I'm NOT DOING IT TO BE FUNNY. I like the NAME. The Fallout reference is a side bonus.
3. "Terrible" is your (rather mean) opinion, and is subjective.
4. My wife is on board with this.
However someone else posted up a really good idea, if you like the name so much change your name to 'Vault' even go one step further and change you middle name to 'Boy', hell change your last name to 101 or burrow a massive hole into the side of a mountain and call it vault 101, it's your life you can do whatever you want.
But you kid isn't you and its an incredibly selfish thing to push your own views and identity onto your kid who will suffer for it. Oh and to quote '"Terrible" is your (rather mean) opinion, and is subjective' you were totally correct everybody does have different opinions but whats to stop your kid thinking the same thing?
