Would you buy a Call of Duty game if you got to play as a Nazi?

I wouldn't if it was COD but the concept itself yes. It would be interesting to play through and experiance the victories and see how close they came to finishing their goals, then watch it all slowly crumble.

hmmmm? Play as a Nazi? Maybe if it was a Valkyrie style, doublecross thing where you try and assassinate Hitler (Yes, I know Stauffenberg was not a Nazi). But that wouldnt go well with CoD.

How about just switch between a German Army solider and an Allie solider, rather than two Allies.

(I dont want a WWII equivilent of No Russian)

That sounds quite fun, but the most fun part would be watching the controversy.
It was actually a planned last (or maybe first) mission for Call of Duty: WaW where you wake up on Normandy and you get to take control of a Nazi machine gun. I think there was going to be some kind of cop-out where you really were an American but were being forced to fire due to the nazi gun pressed against your head (why the guy holding the gun couldn't fire the gun himself or why the dragged an American to shoot at his own guys that might be resistant to the idea I don't think was explained) and no matter what you did, you would die in the end from the Americans breaking in and turning you into swiss cheese. It was dropped at the first sign of conterversy (yet the Veterans day trailer release got by), but as we all know, Activision wouldn't dare ponder a mission about pretending to be a bad guy gunning down people with a machine gun where you die in the end no matter what for the conterversy filled free news.

You could definitely do a good, controversial single player campaign as the Nazi's in the spirit of Modern Warfare 1/2 - jump back and forth between like an SS officer and some grunt in the trenches etc - SS officer does things like throwing switches on ovens and covert missions, and most of the action requirement comes from the grunt in the trenches. Then I dunno, toss in a mission as a jewish resistance fighter or something and after a couple missions you all get slaughtered etc like the nuke on the city in mw1. Maybe you play as just a normal jew or something and get to deathmarch and then die.

That would all be suitably controversial.

I wouldn't buy it because it was a Call of Duty game.

But I'd probably rent it to see if the inevitable controversy was warranted.

Would I? Sure. Would I get a game just for that? No.

I've said it before and I'll say it again;

I don't care what race, gender, nationality, age, or species my character or my target is. I don't care about their religious views and beliefs. You give me a weapon and a target and I'll blow it away without a thought.

Hold on, I only get to kill one Jew? Blasphemy, that's only a 1 k/d, I think you'll find I'll need more than that.

Honestly, it's CoD, I couldn't care less who I'm playing, whether it's the Nazis, or the Imperial Japanese raping the Chinese, or us British raping some of our colonies, or the USAmericans raping some natives, couldn't care less. It's CoD, I'd buy it.

It'd be an interesting prologue to every WWII shooter out there, but I think that the game would be slammed by the media straight out of the gate. I don't really see a game like that getting released. Like, ever. Well, maybe in a few more decades, as WWII becomes a more distant memory and anyone assocated with it are dead and gone. But like I said, it'd be interesting. Just no Death Camp simulation. Strictly military.

I would, to this day I replay the airport level in Modern Warfare 2 continuously to see how efficiently I can kill the civilians.

But in all honesty, I think it'd be a cool idea for a game, not just a level, but a game. The controversy would be endless, but you could show the other side of the story, the soldiers who LOVED killing them Jews, but also the ones who didn't have a choice. To this day, I think most people playing a WW2 game just think that the entire Nazi regime are stone cold killers who want all the Jews dead, when it wasn't necessarily the case. Could make for a cool game..

Isn't there an FPS game coming out where you play as the Nazis? Anyway, to answer your question, no. I'm done with buying Call of Duty games after greedy shit they pulled with MW2 and now they're doing it again with BO.

I would pre-order that! It sounds like it would be a amazing concept for a game.

Why does it have to be CoD? Why not any FPS?

Anyway, I would, because it would be interesting. Concentration camps? I'm more interested in the fighting in Europe.
i agree with your first point.while it would be cool to be a member of the ss for six hours, think about if they let you play as a brute for a couple hours in halo(or at least someone besides arby)? but the thing is the game could have multiple campaigns.lets just pull a quentin tarantino and rapidly shift perspective pulp fiction style.one minute you ARE torturing a prisoner in a concentration camp, the next, you are operating a gatling gun on the beaches of normandy, the next playing as an american running up the beach and avoiding said gunner, and you end up shooting the guy who was at the concentration camps.this could actually make a well rounded and multifaceted storyline and it doesnt just have to focus on one character, and it would give a master chief style character(a blank slate)that would actually allow players to identify with the character.plus i like the ww2 hunting rifles more than modern day machine guns anyway:p

I dont like the idea of buying a CoD game, that franchise is dead to me.
But a Nazi game does peak my interest. Even if it is simply because it hasn't been done before.
