I would lock all the doors and windows, then barricade the windows and doors. I'd have most of the lights off save those coming from the TV and Computer to keep current with what is going down. I would also be praying hourly till the rioting stopped. Hopefully they don't loot/kill me, them rioters.

The police probably wouldn't want any help to do their job, civilians would just get in the way. Especially since most people don't carry around shields and batons when a riot breaks out.

I'd go far away.
Plus police can't tell you're trying to help them so you'd get beaten and arrested anyway.

"I was trying to help officer" won't get you any sympathy. Also tear gas doesn't care who breathes it or gets it in their eyes.

I would probably board up my windows and sit on my porch with a gun (I live in a rural area where guns are allowed and I own some) and protect my stuff. People won't bother with your car if you shoot at them.

Join in or watch depends solely on what kind off riot it is. Sports, poltics, or money no that's stupid. if some people were protesting and the cops used to much force and it got ugly I'd join in.

To quote Sgt. Resnov, "Use your molotovs, let them burn in their posts!"
It depends on the topic of discussion, but the way things are going, I'd fire-bomb the protestors.

I'd do the same thing that my friends and I talked about doing while watching the Oakland riot (if you can call it that) 2 weeks ago: LOOT

I've been in a riot. Not fun. Trying to leg it away is hard work. And as one fellow mentioned looting is a mug's game. Trying to have it away with looted gubbins isn't easy.

It would be a matter of the target, but I've always hated the government, viva la revolution, I say.

Can I assume this is a riot in my neighbourhood? Cause I'm not exactly comfortable with forcibly pacifying dozens of 3-12 year old children in the name of peace and order...

I'd mainly just sit around and watch, although I do admit I'd probably loot a bit, just grab some inconsequential stuff, like some candy bars.

...I get hungry.

Depends. But I'd rather riot then support the police and laws and ideals that I don't support.

It all depends on how self-destructive you feel.

If there was a riot where I live you'd do best to run away before the cops mace you for murdering babies that happened to scamper away before they can make any evidence of it.

Not all that bad of a neighbourhood the cops are just........well they just like to be thorough

Depends on the reasons. If the riot had a good cause behind it, sure.

If it started because the Raiders lost(or won) then no, i got better stuff to do.

Lock my doors and stay at home safely.

Riots accomplish nothing, and if they do accomplish something, it's not good for anyone.
Helping the police is too dangerous, as they really have no way to tell you from a rioter. I would just volunteer with a cleanup crew after
