As long as they don't make it the selling point, I'd be all for that. There is a desperate need of gender and sexual diversity in games. I can only imagine what new and interesting things could come from it.

If you have no choice but to play a homosexual/bisexual/lesbian character, then no. I would not play the game in that situation.

All other things being equal, a well-drawn queer character would make me more likely to want to play a game. Especially if it was made clear that at least one relationship option was actually queer and not one of those hermaphroditic-alien-who-only-uses-one-set-of-binary-pronouns copouts. *sigh*

You're saying gay people are more interesting and straight people are 'generic'. Since sexuality shouldn't affect peoples personality, gay people can be just as boring as straight people.
And to answer, doesn't bother me. It doesn't (or at least shouldn't) affect the way the character climbs or drives or shoots or fights.

Unless it's one of those completely open RPGs, in which case it's just player choice.

The character could be lesbain also but don't say yes because you think it would be hot if the main character lesbain.

For me yes infact it would maybe make it more reason to play the game because then atleast the character would be interesting instead of generic spacemarine.

I wouldn't care, unless the game had erotic scenes. See, it's not gay people I find disgusting, it's MEN who are objectively disgusting. I enjoyed the movie Milk but don't have any desire to see the Greg Araki movie Splendor (the former stars Sean Penn as the first gay mayor of San Francisco; the latter is about a multilateral love triangle between two men and a woman and they apparently have sex the whole damned time).

So yeah. If it's not there for the naughty-naughty and it's not there as a "see! look what we did" bid for attention, sales, then it could be truly compelling storytelling, since gay people face more bullshit in their lives than just about anyone else on earth.

well lets say if it was a choice game like dialogue choice interaction so i could choose some other option if there was relationship choices but as long as they leave it tastefull and not too much detail then yeah i would play if i was genuinely interested in the other hopefully combat involvement of the game graphics and story yes but it all depends on many factors but id have to decide game by game i cant say yes to all but id give it a thought.

i played Oni so yes i would play a game if the main character was gay, as long as the game is good who cares. i mean i may be a little weirded out if i was playing a gay character who constantly flirts with every person he or she meets of the same gender but then thats not a real gay person as they are no different from anyone else.

First off I think this topic requires a poll and second yes I would. While not the main character one of the most interesting characters of Persona 4 was gay and I enjoyed that game.

If it was a RPG; I could not play it. I have to project myself onto a character to enjoy a RPG. It's the same reason I can't play as a woman in RPGs.

as long as you don't atcually have to do some side-mission where you make out/ have sex with a dude.

Depends: Is the main focus of the game that the protagonist is a gay guy? That'd just annoy me.

I wouldn't have an issue with playing a game in where the main character was a homosexual/lesbian. Just so long as they're not blatantly flamboyant and or exploited, I would actually find said character to be pretty endearing! Kind of like Kanji Tatsumi from Persona 4, (though I am aware he's not the game's main hero.)

Yes. Character sexuality doesn't make a blind bit of difference to me. It's the character as a whole I look at. Flat, lifeless, cardboard characters are no fun whatsoever, regardless of sexuality, as well-rounded characters are enjoyable, again, regardless of sexuality.

I wouldn't mind. Now, if they were making out or doing it, then yeah, I wouldn't want to play it.
