Would you guys be pissing so much blood if it was being ported to the PS2?

I think it could port over well, we're not talking of a major graphics whore of a game here.
You haven't got a huge draw distance to worry about. It's dark and 5 - 10 enemies on the screen would be enough and if the motion controls are implemented well then slicing off limbs will have a new lease of life. Ok, so you'll get some jaggies. so what? if a games fun you forget about stuff like that. Are Okami, ICO and Shadow of the colossus any less of a game because of jaggies?

I have it for the PS3 and if it provides a different play experience then I will be picking up the wii version too.

For those people here that judge a console on it's "Power" acting like they're gaming equivalent of Jeremy clarksons love child I think you're going to be sorely disappointed with the next gen of consoles because I am betting we're going to see only a minor update in processor power and more involved control interfaces like motion capture.
Nintendo tried a different hardware approach to sony and Microsoft and it worked. You can guarantee they learnt some lessons from nintendos success.

People just haven't got the money to splash around now. Imagine releasing a 600 quid games console in todays market? People will laugh at you whilst your shareholders sell up. Aint going to happen any time soon, golden age is over.

Move along, you've had your concord moment.

Rant over, now to work.....
how did it work? because it got huge sales? notice how many sold theirs? also notice the hundreds of craptastic games on it?notice how it caters to casual while leaving us hardcore out in the cold?
Fuck You Nintendo
Seriously, its no wonder Nintendo has stepped away from the hardcore crowd. Its because hardcore gamers think they're entitled, like they've been done some sort of injustice. Get the fuck over yourself, you are not more special than the casual gamers. On second thought you ARE more special, the Down Syndrome kind special.

I keep briefly taking an interest in Dead Space and hearing this almost made it happen again when thoughts of making a quick slicing motion with a wiimote (hopefully with that motion-sensing wand upgrade thing by then) to lop off an enemy's limb entered my mind. But then I remembered its a horror game, a genre I don't mix well with. I dunno, might still look into it. By that time I'm hoping to actually have a job and be acquiring all three gaming consoles plus a quality gaming pc. Crazy, I know, but there happens to be games on all of those systems I'd like to get.

Hmmm... generalise much?

I'm actually kind of optimistic (Well... more optimistic than I am for Dead Rising Wii) since I didn't like Dead Space to begin with: I thought of it as an RE4 in space due to the controls and they're both equally overrated.

I couldn't really get into RE4 until it had the Wiimote and I'm thinking I'll feel the same way about DR: unless of course they turn it into a travesty (like Dead Rising: Dead on Arrival... sorry, I mean "Chop till you Drop.") as I'm sure they most certainly will.

Animaniacs much?

EDIT: Sorry, just saw that someone already pointed that out. FAIL!

Since I don't have enough money for a 360 or a PS3, I was disappointed when Dead Space was released, because I wanted to play it. I had to resort to watching someone else play the game on youtube. But this news makes me very happy. I enjoyed RE4 on the Wii, so if the controls will be similar in Dead Space, it might turn out well.

We'll never know until it's released, though.

I think it's great news that Dead Space is coming to the Wii. I'm totally going to check it out. I'm having a hard time understanding why so many people here think it's a bad idea. Sure, it probably won't look as good as on the other systems, but since when were graphics the sole determiner of what makes a game good? There definitely is a tone of "If it's on the Wii, it automatically sucks" here which frankly is disappointing.
I'll tell you what: You go ahead and play Dead Space on your system and I'll play it on mine. Deal?
THANK you. Dead Space could be great, it could suck. We should all just calm the heck down until - oh, I don't know - the game actually COMES OUT.

If they don't royally fuck it up like Nintendo always does and probably will do it could be a good game.
You are aware that Nintendo are not making the game, right? EA are making the game for the Wii. I'd also like to point out that none of Nintendo's games on the Wii have been "royally fucked up".
Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to this or not. All I know about Dead Space is garnered from this forum and I can't really tell from that if it's worth a look or not. Still, if they get the controls right, which I have confidence that they will, it's certainly not a bad thing for it to come to Wii.

It worked because they decided to try something new and people like it. And yes it sells loads.

You dont like the games? Then dont buy them. It's not like Nintendos firing mind control rays into your skull forcing you to buy the latest cooking mama or whatever.

As for the casual gamers, who are these people? Would they happen to be the same people that bought a sodding Nes and Snes and later a game cube? Are they supposed to give up gaming just because they've grown up and got families?

What is a hardcore gamer anyway? How are you particularly hard core?
I was gaming back in the sinclair days where if you managed to actually finish one of the games odds are the local paper would come round and interview you. 4 lifes, pixel fecking perfect jumps and about a hundred hours of gameplay. I've owned pretty much every console and and home computer and I wouldn't call myself hardcore.

Look at Nintendos back catalogue of first party titles. They've always tried to aim for the family market.
That's their thing. Even so we've seen some pretty no family friendly titles come out to keep peoples bloodlust in check.
You slate them failing to bring out non casual titles then get all worked up when they decided to bring one out.

Yes theres a lot of fluff in the wii stable. Some people like fluff, let those people buy what they're happy playing. It doesnt hurt you.
Part of the reason that there is so much casual games is that Nintendo decided to make a console easy to code for.
You may sneer at those people that buy these titles but they are keeping afloat one of the oldest games developers.
Would you prefer they go the way of Sega? Then it would just be a pissing contest between Microsoft and Sony who are trying to make the same games.

I am going to stick my finger in my ears and pretend this isn't happening.

But seriously, this is a SERIOUSLY bad idea and it will be terrible.

The controls could work pretty well if you ask me. Something like RE4 comes to mind, and that was an awesome port; of course the graphics would suffer considerably.

Care to elaborate? No? Sometimes I just don't understand what the hell people want.
Everybody moans about the Wii not having enough hardcore games, yet the instant one is announced it's instantly derided as a bad idea by the very same people. The kicker is that most of these people probably don't even own a Wii, so they're not even affected by it.

Well it might work or might fail, that's all we really know unless someone has good video clips of the game on the wii.

Well, I've always not liked Wii's, but bringing Dead Space is a seriously bad idea.

Hey, I never once complained about the Wii not having enough hardcore games. I just complained that bringing this particular game over to the Wii is not going to work.

Would the fanboy's kindly shut the fuck up? If a game YOU like is getting ported to a console YOU DONT like doesnt mean that you have the right to say other people are wrong for thinking the game will be good/buying it. NO-ONE loses when a game gets ported, except for fanboy's.

Also, the controls in Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition were perfect. Dead Space is the exact same kind of game as RE4 so as long as they stick to the controls of it they wont have any problems.

Quit getting butthurt over such petty shit you fucking retarded fanboy's!

Apart from the fact that it's not out yet, I think we're both right.
I'll drink to that.

Oh yeah, and happy first post.
