Chirst, why the hate?
Would you guys be pissing so much blood if it was being ported to the PS2?
I think it could port over well, we're not talking of a major graphics whore of a game here.
You haven't got a huge draw distance to worry about. It's dark and 5 - 10 enemies on the screen would be enough and if the motion controls are implemented well then slicing off limbs will have a new lease of life. Ok, so you'll get some jaggies. so what? if a games fun you forget about stuff like that. Are Okami, ICO and Shadow of the colossus any less of a game because of jaggies?
I have it for the PS3 and if it provides a different play experience then I will be picking up the wii version too.
For those people here that judge a console on it's "Power" acting like they're gaming equivalent of Jeremy clarksons love child I think you're going to be sorely disappointed with the next gen of consoles because I am betting we're going to see only a minor update in processor power and more involved control interfaces like motion capture.
Nintendo tried a different hardware approach to sony and Microsoft and it worked. You can guarantee they learnt some lessons from nintendos success.
People just haven't got the money to splash around now. Imagine releasing a 600 quid games console in todays market? People will laugh at you whilst your shareholders sell up. Aint going to happen any time soon, golden age is over.
Move along, you've had your concord moment.
Rant over, now to work.....
how did it work? because it got huge sales? notice how many sold theirs? also notice the hundreds of craptastic games on it?notice how it caters to casual while leaving us hardcore out in the cold?
Fuck You Nintendo
It worked because they decided to try something new and people like it. And yes it sells loads.
You dont like the games? Then dont buy them. It's not like Nintendos firing mind control rays into your skull forcing you to buy the latest cooking mama or whatever.
As for the casual gamers, who are these people? Would they happen to be the same people that bought a sodding Nes and Snes and later a game cube? Are they supposed to give up gaming just because they've grown up and got families?
What is a hardcore gamer anyway? How are you particularly hard core?
I was gaming back in the sinclair days where if you managed to actually finish one of the games odds are the local paper would come round and interview you. 4 lifes, pixel fecking perfect jumps and about a hundred hours of gameplay. I've owned pretty much every console and and home computer and I wouldn't call myself hardcore.
Look at Nintendos back catalogue of first party titles. They've always tried to aim for the family market.
That's their thing. Even so we've seen some pretty no family friendly titles come out to keep peoples bloodlust in check.
You slate them failing to bring out non casual titles then get all worked up when they decided to bring one out.
Yes theres a lot of fluff in the wii stable. Some people like fluff, let those people buy what they're happy playing. It doesnt hurt you.
Part of the reason that there is so much casual games is that Nintendo decided to make a console
easy to code for.
You may sneer at those people that buy these titles but they are keeping afloat one of the oldest games developers.
Would you prefer they go the way of Sega? Then it would just be a pissing contest between Microsoft and Sony who are trying to make the same games.
