They'd probably make Mirror's Edge into a side-scroller...

But hey, this is pretty cool.

Now bring us a Mother 3 for Wii! Dammit!

I don't get this. Every other thread here is basically the wii sucks it has no hardcore games and blah blah blah. So a company takes one of thier hardcore games announces they are porting it to the wii (with no other real info I might add) and people are still bitching?

This is war pick a side!!!!!!

Is there some kind of Firefox plug-in I don't know about that alerts idiots to any thread on any message board with the word 'Wii' in the title?

This place is going down the fucking tubes.
My thoughts exactly Jag, you read my fucking mind.

I can't believe the amount of bullshit that gets spewed on this website now. I used to think that this was a utopia of a forum that people weren't dirty trolls that stink of fanboy-ism and malice when the word 'wii' or 'rap' is typed but obviously I was wrong. A Downhill slope is where his website is on.

Okay guys, if they made Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, then they sure as hell are gonna make dead space for the Wii.

It will probably just get quickly ported, in other words it will be bad. Not sayin that games like this arent possible on the wii. Res 4 is a good example (the graphics is still really good).

The game could actually work on the wii, in spite of the obvious limitations in power available. The controls do trouble me somewhat. Given the perspective and control inherent in the game, I cannot imagine that a direct port would result in an intuitive control scheme. On the 360, the controls worked just fine under normal circumstances, but from time to time when grabbed by one of the giant tentacles in a wall, where your perspective was suddenly and wildly shifted, control became a nightmare. I would think that the problem would be worse in general for the Wii, if it kept hte third person perspective.

Umm, let nintendo do what they want. If they fail epic then they fail epic. At least they'll have noone but themselves to blame.

So, are you all saying that Dead Space's sole redeeming quality is pretty graphics? Thanks for the heads up.
Nope its a truly unique game in that everything it does it does really well. Bar one or two frustrating on rails sections it's as close as I've seen to a technically perfect game since Super Mario World.

And it's such such fun blowing limbs off necromorphs... think Resi 4 on the nostromo with added amputation.
Everything you said, and them some. I loved this game.

Seriously, its no wonder Nintendo has stepped away from the hardcore crowd. Its because hardcore gamers think they're entitled, like they've been done some sort of injustice. Get the fuck over yourself, you are not more special than the casual gamers. On second thought you ARE more special, the Down Syndrome kind special.
Hmmm... generalise much?
Not really. Every thread about the Wii is like that: bitchy, whining, hardcore gamers, complaining about a console most of them don't own.

Well, I've always not liked Wii's, but bringing Dead Space is a seriously bad idea.

I am going to stick my finger in my ears and pretend this isn't happening.

But seriously, this is a SERIOUSLY bad idea and it will be terrible.
Care to elaborate? No? Sometimes I just don't understand what the hell people want.
Everybody moans about the Wii not having enough hardcore games, yet the instant one is announced it's instantly derided as a bad idea by the very same people. The kicker is that most of these people probably don't even own a Wii, so they're not even affected by it.
Hey, I never once complained about the Wii not having enough hardcore games. I just complained that bringing this particular game over to the Wii is not going to work.
And yet you still refuse to give any real reason why.
Can anybody actually give a real reason why this is a bad idea, beyond it just is?

Allow me to reiterate. Nintendo aren't making the game. Ever heard of third-party publishers?

Since when has this place become such a shit-hole? It used to be full of intelligent conversation and debate.

In my opinnion, the wii does a few games pretty well, and a lot not very well at all. Zelda and Wii sports work well out of the games I have, but some look awful and play worse (the force unleashed in particular) Some of this could be down to treating the Wii's controls as something to overcome rather than embrace, but I think really Nintendo went after the casual market sales over much. It's hard to criticize this, who doesn't like a big pile of cash?

how come everyone seems mention 2 things; graphics and controls?
a) graphics are a minor part of a game, for me anyway. it's more about the game play.
b) people said the controls for Force Unleashed was bad but for me the light saber swinging worked flawlessly, i don't see what all the complaints were about

I own a Wii and a PC...

Anything that I want for graphics, I use my pc.

Anything family, I have the Wii.

Now if only I could get Fallout 3 on the Wii - then I could do slow motion poses with my wii remote when I use VATS! :D

Well, how about instead of presuming it will be shit, we wait for the first screen or video. Anything could work on the Wii, but it would take time and effort, which is why most games get rushed.

every time I hear of a ps3 or 360 game getting ported to the Wii it reminds me of the ports of games from the snes/ps1/ps2 to the gameboy. They ended up stripping out anything fun about the game till all that was left was some shovelware trying to sell itself on the name

Porting to the wii/ps2/portables isn't as simple as just turning the gfx to low, they have to deal with physics and AI ment for systems with 5-10x+ the horsepower. A poor port reflects badly on the game, developers and the console

I never played dead space myself, and I don't doubt that if they really tried they could make a fun version for the Wii, but this just screams of shovelware hoping to sell based on reviews of the 360 version

Most people have tried the Wii at least... I thought it was fun for ten minutes (or longer if drunk at a party) but for more involving gaming experiences it just doesn't seem to cut it due to the awkward controller and gimmicky feel to most of its titles.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just meant for different things than a 360 or ps2. But people who have grown up playing Doom, Prince of Persia, Half Life, Bioshock etc... are obviously going to see it as a trifle frivolous by nature and therefore feel it is in many ways (technically and by way of immersion levels) inferior to the more gamer driven consoles.
