this doesnt surprise me at all lol..i think nintendo are trying to appeal to the male market rather than mums and grannies trying to keep fit.

the whole ''family fun'' can only go so far and would soon end up being boring...

Dead Space on the Wii, huh?

I think it sounds like a good idea, just look at re4.

Now if only I could get Fallout 3 on the Wii - then I could do slow motion poses with my wii remote when I use VATS! :D
Yes, that would be awesome.

I'm trying to imagine the gameplay with the motion sensing controls.

Pull back to use the power to grab and pull items too you. Or use the motion sensing as primarily your aim. So now you actually do spin around when you hear something which will increase tension and immersion.

Instead of using a joystick to point at something so you can see it you wave at it's direction, you game screen turn into the direction and a monster pops up. You get scared and wave the controller. You lose sight of the monster for a second and then get a hold of yourself while you back pedal and point the controller back at the monster so you can get the kill.

I have never played this game. I do not have the Wii. The implementation of this game with the Wii controls excites me enough to be tempted to buy the Wii. The fact the Wii has so many interesting games in it's library is threatening to turn the temptation into reality.

Forget this Wii sucks debate. Talk about the controls. Did you guys and gals ever see the Blair Witch Project and other movies made in that style? These controls can give you that perspective. The ability to control your viewpoint in a more natural way is a far greater immersion tool than pretty graphics ever is.

Does anyone actually remember when console wars were fun? When you and your mates would debate the merits of the consoles, and then both enjoy what you have while at the same time enjoying the other guys choice as well? Good times. What's going on these days? Companies being accused of 'selling out' in an economic crisis, jeez guys these companies should just make games for one console so it doesn't net them more money so they can release bigger and better games. Yeah that makes sense.

Nintendo is trying something different, but they get crapped on because they aren't 'catering to your tastes.' Seriously, fanbrats, get over yourselves. These companies aren't loyal to you, you are loyal to them. Nintendo should be praised for showing people the good in gaming, they should be cheered on for getting older people into games. The whole concept behind the Wii (even its name implies it) is that everyone should play games, no matter what the age. Nintendo's plan did work, they are selling gaming machines to those people who would never game. Are they having fun? Yes. So why do you want to spoil the party for them?

As I see it 'Hardcore' gamers with the mentality that gaming should be only made for them, with a side of online multiplayer, are the real problem here. You guys are a joke. You delibrately troll on forums such as these to rag on games that you have no interest in, calling people that enjoy those games 'idiots' and ranting on and on about how companies like Nintendo, Capcom and EA are 'selling out' based on the fact that they are trying to reach new audiences. I've said this before, and I'll repeat it: You guys are scared. Scared of the fact that gaming is becoming more and more mainstream, scared that your 'niche' past time will stop being that. But most of all, I think you are scared that your 'hardcore' games like Gears of War, Call of Duty and Halo will somehow disapear and all that will be left is the 90th iteration of Peggle and Mario Party. This isn't going to happen.

Gaming companies constantly lament how they want to continue satysfing the 'core' gamer, and I don't see that mentality ending any time soon. The Wii has its place in the market, it as well has its share of 'Hardcore' titles, but as a machine for everyone it will continue getting games that are easy to play and don't cost much to make. To the Hardcore: The Wii doesn't affect you, continue buying the games you like and play them. There is no need to rave on about being 'betrayed' just move on. By the way, I think it's great that Dead Space is coming to the Wii, let's see if they get the controls right.
The day the "new consoles" develop a gimmicky control design like the one on the Wii is the day i completely stop buying video games. I see what you're saying here, and I think you have a point, so well said there. I mainly disagree with one thing, that we are loyal to the game companies. This is false, the customer is always right and if we decide to stop buying the games they make then they will cease to exist. I'm not suggesting this is going to happen (that's impossible) because there will always be a market for Nintendo and Microsoft etc. It's more of a hypothetical on my part more than anything else.

I think these are interesting news, although I'm not going so far as to saying that it's good news.

But, yes, if EA fulfill their promise to up the quality of their games, and don't get lazy like Capcom are with Dead Rising Wii, then this could turn out to be a decent alternative to the original version of Dead Space.

What they have to do is redo the game rather than scale it down. They have to keep their priorities straight and know what will work and what won't, while not sacrificing the solidity of the gaming experience itself.

It's apparent that you didn't like Metroid Prime Corruption. On the same level of bigotry as your own post, this has lead me to believe that there is something lethal working it's way through your brain, starting at the common sense area. I'm very sorry.

Uhh, yeah, it's not a first-person shooter. Yeah, I know. What a bugger, eh?

But yeah, I don't think it's such a good idea.
People who would want "commitment" from EA, and Dead Space, wouldn't buy Wiis, or atleast would ALSO buy another console (PS3 or X360).

And yeah, there's also the graphics, but I don't think that's that bad of an idea.

mmm... Regrettably, I just sold my wii... So I don't have to worry about it? Congrats to them for getting some decent games aside from De Blob and Mario kart though...

Yeah, but game manufacturers don't understand that considering they keep making games for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
I'm not even quite sure how to respond to that. The PS3 and the 360 have great graphics and good controls.

Oh wait, you're a strictly PC gamer. That explains it.

I'd like to see if I can aim in this game. Also if they keep their version of the gravity gun, seeing as the wii might not be good for physics. I say it's worth a shot, and the onyl downside being that there might be graphical glitches.
