I already bolded it back in Post 67.
what glademaster is saying is that microsoft does make shoddy below standard products, but there is nothing stopping them from doing this becuase people like you sit there and ***** and moan about how evil microsoft is and then go out and buy a new xbox, giving them a huge profit from making these pieces of crap. if ms are spending less time and money making a crap product and still getting huge profits why would they ever even consider making changes that will cost them any extra time and money for the same profits (or even considerably less if you think about all the new console and repair money they rake in from these flawed consoles).

you keep going out buying ms consoles being fully aware of the issues they present. hell ive gone through two 360's and have learnt my lesson, but you dont see me here bitching about how evil ms is. instead i went out and gave them the big finger by buying a ps3. and if everyone that had issues with ms had this same attitude then they would be forced to get their ass into gear and fix all of these issues or face a considerable drop in sales.

now i dont know about you but that dosent sound like a very "fanboy" statement to me. and resorting to calling people a fanboy is simply a childish schoolyard style tactic that people employ when they know they have been outsmarted. calling someone a fanboy is about on the same level as "yea.. well ur gay"

See this is why I haven't bough kinect yet as I knew there would be trouble right from the start.
I myself don't actually see the big difference in HD gaming while my older brother seems to swear by it.

Were it not for the fact that all my friends are Xbox royalists and would never convert to the PS3 I may actually have bought one of those instead.
(I always wanted to play infamouse and killzone etc.)

One complaint from my friend's 360 slim is that it doesn't like older discs. It refused to play Call of Duty 4 but Bad Company 2 is fine. That or his 360 slim just prefers Battlefield to Call of Duty...

That's exactly what I have and why it has no audio outs. It's a Samsung LCD monitor.
Did you tried one of these to get the sounds?

I plugged audio cables from Xbox360 or PS3 into this thing and plug the cable from standard speakers for PC into the other end.
Sigh... I wish I had, instead of stupidly spending 25 quid on another lead :(

Not really my phone does not have any moving parts while it is on. In fact the only thing that does is my iPod that I carry around with me. .
..yet my old CD Walkman used to go jogging with me and never skip or scratch discs, despite having numerous moving parts... and that was 10 years ago.

The tech is there to avoid it.
Yes, either a clip for the disk, or one piece of foam.
But they were too cheap to do it.
Speaking of disc trays... I really hope ths one doesn't have the same problem I had with my old one where the rubber part in the middle wore off and they wanted 95 quid for a repair (which I fixed myself with some superglue and a screwdriver)

Why do you bring up the point that moving it breaks the games? Who in their right mind would move a game console or anything for that matter with moving parts inside. You're just asking for trouble. You may as well take out the game itself and get a key and go crazy on that bad boy.
People sometimes move things by accident. It happens. People have kids, pets, narcolepsy, stuff like that y'know?

And beside, I once dropped my Gamecube from a five foot high shelf, it rolled all around the floor and when I looked back, the game was still running perfectly. Consoles can be built to avoid this problem.
ehh your using an unrealistic comparison since nintendo actually makes things that last, Ive put my old nes controllers tho walls and they still work to this day

I still have my 360 Pro and I've heard that is suppose to have the highest chance to red ring, so the slim's red....dotting? already is quite worrisome

Okay honestly, is anyone surprised? If they told me that you could submerge the xbox 360 slim in water while it was running and it wouldn't break down, THEN I'd be surprised.

I'm not anti Xbox more than any intelligent person. If you're not criticising Microsoft for this, then you're an Xbox Fanboy. Hell, if you follow my other posts you'll see I like the PS3 and dislike the PSP, don't see much value in the Wii, dislike the DS, am interested in the 3DS, like Windows, dislike OS X, like the iPod touch, dislike the iPhone, generally like the Xbox and am split 50/50 over the 360. You can't just brush away my criticism of the 360 by claiming I'm anti-Xbox because I'm actually right with my criticism.

You do know you can just plug it directly into your tv and have your tv run to sound system. Or you can plug it into something else like a dvdo which is what I do. You really dont need to plug in both an HDMI and AV cable as the AV cable will be doing nothing at all. I have everything plugged into the dvdo and then that goes to my tv. Its a rather simple setup and allows me to have quite a few things hooked up at once.

Why do you want both HDMI and component cables plugged in at the same time anyways? Its not like it actually does anything extra, your just plugging in more stuff then needed.
What if someone want to hook an Xbox360,Xbox360 Slim to an LCD monitor that has HDCP? normally those monitor doesn't have sound system built in.

I have an Xbox360 and a PS3 hooked to the same monitor,I use HDMI to DVI cable for my ps3 and use its RCA cable for sounds, but i can't do the same set up for Xbox360,i have to rely on its VGA cable instead, and suffer a reduced Visual quality compared to the HDMI.
Yeah, the VGA cable is a good solution for being cheap, but it doesn't really compare to HDMI beyond that.

I don't, I gave them the benefit of the doubt initially because they rushed it out to compete with Sony, so the errors were more unfortunate. They were also steadily improving reliability, as well as offering an extended warranty, until the Jasper chipset which is very relibable, and the 360 was at a very reasonable price of $130. The VGA HD cable also allows me to use my hack job LCD HDTV in a way that's not possible with a PS3, so the value was there, and Microsoft was improving things. Then they completely undid all the work they did to improve the Xbox 360 quality with the S, and rather than making it even better they made it worse. I'm not going to go buy a new 360 by any means, and I'll naturally call them out quite loudly. It also does make a difference, as you'll see at least one person who was considering getting a new Xbox 360 S before is now reconsidering it. The bitching does make a different, and actually prevents sales.

you keep going out buying ms consoles being fully aware of the issues they present.
Who is this 'you' you're talking about? I'm aware of the issues they present and I'm also aware of the track record of Jasper 360s, so the one I have is actually a good quality (relatively speaking) 360.

hell ive gone through two 360's and have learnt my lesson, but you dont see me here bitching about how evil ms is. instead i went out and gave them the big finger by buying a ps3. and if everyone that had issues with ms had this same attitude then they would be forced to get their ass into gear and fix all of these issues or face a considerable drop in sales.
Thing is, they've vastly improved things up until this point, to the degree that people thought the 360 S would be better quality, just like the original 360, people are going to buy these things as unknowing of the problems as they were 5 years ago, and just being quiet about it won't help any of them.

That's about as far as I'll take arguing with you about this as you've very clearly created a straw man argument.

now i dont know about you but that dosent sound like a very "fanboy" statement to me. and resorting to calling people a fanboy is simply a childish schoolyard style tactic that people employ when they know they have been outsmarted. calling someone a fanboy is about on the same level as "yea.. well ur gay"
Defending Microsoft, even being remotely understanding of them in this situation is being a MS/Xbox fanboy. No two ways about it. No reasonable, unbiased person could do anything but vehemently criticise Microsoft for what they've done.

Yup, I use a wire for my controller to connect to my PC. The controller and mic work with games like Halo Combat Evolved.

(There might be a program for it or something)

I had the cable problem with my own, old-style xbox that I annoyingly purchased about a month and a half before the slim was released. I solved it by ordering an official xbox-brand cable from China on eBay for something like $4.

And to think it could all be avoided by $2 rubber stoppers that would prevent the disk from getting scratched...but profit over quality, amirite?

So many people on this forum are really smart, intelligent dudes and dudettes (such as yourself miracle) but when it comes to the 360, you all seem to a have a big, soft, daft spot for it.

The problems with 360's are infamously legendary and yet you all accept it and get another, when (I chose "when" 'cos "if" just doesn't capture it) they brake.

If a phone or car or something else had a problem like this it would be made an example of and rarely bought but how many people are on there 3rd/4th/5th 360? Or how many disks have been eaten?

Just strikes me as odd, every time I consider getting one I think "nah, it will only brake and I will be out of pocket and missing a console for a week or two".
Excuse me if a I ask, but is that really so terrible?
It's theft if you've paid $50 dollars for a year's worth of service that you could be playing for that time. And at times it's more than a week. Oh yes it is very petty to mention this, but the reality is most people have gone through multiple xboxes. Also many people have had xboxes since release. Xbox's service for *giving you a new xbox* became dramatically faster only a year or two ago. Previously a person had to wait nearly a month to get *their* machine back. So to calculate for me for instance ...

8 xboxes 2 of which I scammed walmart into exchanging so of the 6 remaining only 2 of them had a 2 week turn-around so ...

4 xboxes sent x 4 wks is 16 weeks which comes to approx. 16$ plus 2 from rapid turn-around is 18$

I never saw a return for that which could easily buy more games. Furthermore, with the degradation of game value, I had to keep games longer to complete them to my preferred extent and thus lost many dollars that way.

I wised up in 2008 and got rid of my 360. I recommend everyone sell theirs and get a PS3, go PC gaming or straight get a new hobby. Sometimes it's just not worth it to buy broken machines.

to op:

Listen to Omega 616

to Omega 616:

I completely agree. It comes down to people accepting the fact that things aren't going to work. It's completely unacceptable at the current rate. Nothing's perfect, but having fixed a few 360's after E74s, there is NO REASON m$ can't get this right.

The second problem was one I myself had. The component AV cable does not support HD, and it is cynically designed in such a way that a piece of jutting plastic blocks you from using a HDMI cable at the same time.
Why didn't you just saw off the piece of plastic then?

Nintendo makes their consoles out of motherfucking steel or something.

Ex. I was going to a cousin's house, when there's a sudden crash at an intersection. I was heading straight for it. Thankfully, I managed to stop in time. My Wii, however, went flying through the windshield.

It still works. A few scuffs, but nothing some white paint can't undo.
