I never stated anything about twice the performance, also technically the Durango won't have hyper-threading, it will use another name for having 4 logical cores to one physical since it being an IBM chip.Bad Jim said:No. Hyperthreading allows a single core to efficiently divide its' power among two threads, effectively allowing your 3 GHz 4 core processor to behave like a 1.5 GHz 8 core processor. It makes task switching quicker.
It's not a magic thing that can make programs twice as fast. It's just a small optimisation with a good buzzword. That's why you don't see any improvements, and also why it's in there regardless of whether you feel you want it.
Nothing will ever be stupider that the Wii or Wii U...lolVkmies said:If it will indeed be called just "XboX", it's the stupidest fucking name for a console ever. Yes, it's worse than Wii, or Wii U. Jesus christ people, use SOME imagination!

Theyve done a 360 you see, and now the cycle may repeat...SonOfMethuselah said:"The next-gen Xbox, which it speculates is likely to be called simply 'Xbox'..."
Um... you mean like the first Xbox console? Why on earth would they do that? .

It's Xbox World. They're not SUPPOSED to enthuse about things that aren't Xbox.Maxtro said:I like how the PS4 mention is given a minor footnote.

Standards for console power are a lot lower than PC. I don't know them off the top of my head, but the 360 and PS3's specs are basically garbage compared to a PC, yet they can play a lot of the same games.cahtush said:My now 5 year old computer is more powerfull than that. :/
Dont really see why everyone is so impressed.

So let's get straight to the point:

I'm stoked for this even though I'm a PC gamer, I can't wait to see devs releasing games for proper modern hardware without current restrictions. Good news all around!According to the mag's final 'exposé', the next-gen Xbox - which it speculates is likely to be called simply "Xbox" - will introduce Kinect 2.0, use Blu-ray discs and feature directional audio, a TV output AND input, 'innovative controller' and - at a later stage of the console's life - AR glasses.
Current codename 'Durango' dev kits boast a CPU with "four hardware cores, each divided into four logical cores" and an impressive 8GB of RAM, XBW reports.
