Yeah...About Dragon Age 2.

Am I the only one who is actually worried about the game being good? From the looks of things so far it kinda looks pants. We know little to nothing about the game so far apart from the protagonist being named Hawke and it begins with himself and his family escaping from Lothering after the Darkspawn invasions and the story spans 10 years.

Dragon Age: Origins is one of my favorite Bioware games but im afraid that the sequel might be crap.

That is also worrying.

Well, I'm excited. Not knowing a lot doesn't make it bad, and anyway, about the "no ancient evil thing", it'll be refreshing not to have to go and "saev teh wurld" yet again.
Plus, I like the new art style myself. Maybe we'll be able to avoid "the Bioware look".

I really don't understand your usage of the word pants(but I am American). The game doesn't seem that bad and apparently they're fixing stuff and making the game flow better. But I'm gonna wait til a steam sale comes out or the first few DLCs.
Edit:Also from looking at the pics I see they left the intense covered in blood look again after hitting a person once.

Lets start at the beginning.

1) Why is the name a sign of the game being bad?

2) "No exclusive organization. No saving the world. No ancient evil." (David Gaider). - So it won't be the same fucking Bioware plotline that we've been playing for the past decade? How is that bad?!

3) Those pictures are from an alpha build, a.k.a. a very, very, very early and unpolished version of the game. It will get better. And even then, graphics don't make the game. The way I see it, the worse the graphics, the more likely I can play it on my PC.

So yeah, needless to say, I disagree. About those points at least.

What I'm most worried about is that Bioware may streamline where its not needed, and the dialog wheel.

New Art Style? Bioware Look?

I dont really see anything different about the art style other than it looking like it was made with a really poor Texture Pack.

I dont really see anything different about the art style other than it looking like it was made with a really poor Texture Pack.

It's looking to be... exaggerated reality? I guess you could call it.
And the "Bioware look" is term used for Bioware's games where the humanoid characters tend to look a bit... off.

Plus, as Irridium said, those shots are Alpha-ish. The final game will be a lot more polished and nice looking.

I am a little bothered I am forced to play as ye-olde-shepa.....I mean hawke. But other than that, I hope they keep the tactics-esque combat from the first, that was the best bit.

Ummm... so the game sounds like it's going to be bad but at the same time we know little to nothing about it?

Anyway, I think it looks and sounds great. The only thing I've heard about it so far that I really find concerning is the use of the ME style dialogue wheel instead of actually picking exactly what your character says. Certainly some of what we know about the game makes it sound different (more localized story spread across time more than territory, story more focused on the player character with a more defined player character, tweaked more action friendly combat, etc.) but none of it sounds bad. Will it feel exactly like DA:O? Probably not, which I agree is unfortunate on some levels as I loved DA:O to bits, but just because it may be different doesn't mean it will be bad.

Gore is fashionable. Really.

I nitpick on this game. A lot. And on Bioware in general. However, I am really looking forward to it, despite myself. I have a vague feeling that I might get disappointed but I still want to play it. Mechanics and gameplay sound awesome and while the dialogue wheel will annoy me, I can live with it.

After I play, I'll dissect it and criticize it because all Bioware games have such potential and I hate the way it sometimes goes to waste.

Ultimately, I can't say anything until I play it or at least see the plot.

It'll probably be just as fun to play though.

Oh god. Those images. It looks like they were trying to get further away from the "super serious" art-style, but fucked up horribly.

Also it seems some walking into Bioware's offices and told them that "Curved swords and spikes are cool!!"

I'm glad I gave up Bioware after ME2.

I just got Mass Effect 2.

I really want to like it but it just feels like an average 3rd Person Shooter enclosed in a massive world with some slightly interesting characters. The bunch from Dragon Age: Origins are alot more interesting and they are fleshed out better. (Consider I havent gotten that far into the story but I have done Miranda's Loyalty Mission and alot of side missions)
There are some moments where I just go Wow that was awesome (Like Tali's Rescue).
