I usually whisper my hilarious commentary to my friends but one time during Clash of the Titans 3D in one of the slow motion scenes when no one was saying anything and a giant crab or whatever was attacking I accidently shouted out: "PRESS THE X BUTTON!!!" Everyone around me started laughing even the people I didn't come with.

I enjoy sarcasm but unless its like they shout out something that is funny once I would be okay unless it is extremely boring I would get pissed if someone just kept shouting out stuff, if one of my friends was whispering comments I wouldn't mind.

Is this some kind of American thing? Because as far as I'm aware here in the UK speaking in cinemas is a big no-no. Don't clap, don't talk, don't laugh to loud, because for fucks sake your here to watch the bloody movie.
I live in the UK and I see people talking, clapping and laughing too loud all the time

Really? Huh, guess my cinema's just attracts a certain type of people.

(note: one of my friends did get the cinema to applaud a movie once. That was annoying, who the heck are you clapping for? The projectionist? The director can't see you.)

Not really cool, unless there aren't that many people, I guess.
I only did it once and that was during Resident Evil: Extinction, but I didn't want to be there anyway. I accidentally channeled Admiral Ackbar and shouted "It's a trap!" during one of the many obvious trap scenes.

When I went to go see the last Harry Potter movie, it was the standard midnight showing, except for one thing- when they showed the trailer for the next Batman movie, at the end some guy yelled out "Snape kills Batman!" and it was hilarious. Sadly, I've yet to experience people making commentary on movies I've gone to. I feel left out.

See, that's the thing that annoys me. Exactly what this person said, none of the people involved in the making of this movie can hear you. DON'T DO IT.

I generally dislike this, but it did happen spontaneously with some friends and the group of people around us at Spiderman 3, so I actually have a good memory of this movie, despite it being trash.

Watching the Seventh harry potter movie (Part 1) with my lovely girlfriend. Harry and Hermione are hugging in a friendly way and it's very moving and all. She yells out "Are they fucking yet?" Nearly pissed myself from laughing, and so did a few other people.

Usually I reckon it isn't okay to yell out stupid stuff in movies, but when it's your girlfriend asking if Harry and Hermione are fucking yet, you just have to go with it.

My favorite thing that happened in a movie theather was in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Spoiler'd for those who haven't seen it yet.

During the movie, people in the audience were talking, quietly, not distracting. When Ceaser first speaks, dead silence, for about 3 seconds. Then, from a corner of the theather, someone shouts "HOLY SHIT!" Everyone in the room was laughing for about 2 minutes straight.

Seriously though, if you liked it, whatever. But it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life.
I was willing to take you seriously, but then you said this line.

This is a bad line. It takes away all credibility as someone who thinks themselves as having taste in films. If it is the worst film you have ever seen, you have clearly never seen films that are actually bad.

I mean shit, have you seen cabin fever 2?

OP:

It depends on the film and the audience. I found that during kick-ass the audience would just laugh at parts of the film without needing a comment (such as the black guy picking up the bazooka).

In Twilight? I wasn't there but four of my friends went to see it "for a laugh" (I do not believe him for a second). That scene where the sparkly vampire is running slow motion shirtless through the grass?

Apparently the word "gay" was all that was needed to make four rows of audience start laughing.

Edit:

I do remember a time where I went to see paranormal activity two because I got dragged along (free ticket). There was a scuffle at the back of the cinema and everyone had turned away so I went "oh shit" really loudly.

Instantly the entire front third of the cinema was looking at the front going "what did I miss shit did we miss it?". That was fun. I dunno what the scuffle was about, I wasn't really interested because it was at the back.

My friends were more entertaining to watch than that film anyway. I mean, I had one guy literally hyperventilating next to me so much that a staff member actually came over to ask if he needed an ambulance. *rolls eyes*

Nope, you don't. Because she's spoiling someone else's experience. I do agree that it's funny, but just because you and I do doesn't mean that everyone else in the theater does.
Yeah, I do.

Because bewbs.

But seriously. Only about fifteen people in the theatre. About ten of them laughed. We knew most of them. Not a big deal.

"oh look at this guy here...CUT!"

Also, oh look that guy is all alone...I wonder if he will...hes already dead. X_<

No No No No, a hundred times No. I don't care if you're seeing Black Swan or Twilight, the people who paid for the movie deserve the right to see it without ass-hats providing their own commentary.
Agreed. People who go to see the newest Coen Brothers movie acting like they're attending a showing of Rocky Horror are like people who do speedballs in the bathroom while their friends are having casual drinks: they are soulless, unrelatable assholes.

It seems to mainly be an American thing. I've only ever had what you've described, apart from one or two people on one or two occasions.

No they do not. If you actually liked Green Lantern or Skyline or The Last Airbender or Fast 5 or Transformers, then you deserve to be viciously mocked. Your opinion is wrong, and you have no taste.
Because god forbid people having different opinions.

O.T: For me personally, even if a movie is bad, you shouldn't make comments when you watch it, unless just you and a group of family/friends are the only one's watching.

No, it´s not okay.
Because honestly, 9 out of 10 times, you are not as funny as you think you are.
Yes, YOU.

And most people don´t go to the cinema and pay money to listen to random douchebags, who are neither as funny or smart as they think they are.
That´s what Liberal Arts colleges are for.

I can't speak for elsewhere in the world, but the cinema that I frequent has fairly strict rules on talking. If you make a too much noise, you are outta there without a refund.
Of course, the occasional sarcastic quip to your friends is allowed, so long as you don't announce it to the entire theater.
